Improvements to "Authentication failed" error
Probably one of the most commonly asked question is "Why does Dovecot just say authentication failed"? It would be nice to be able to get rid of these questions by having Dovecot itself point out the http://wiki.dovecot.org/WhyDoesItNotWork link. But how to do this? There are two groups of people here: 1) People who look at logs after seeing the "Authentication failed" from a

Startup info message
Hi folks, I'm using the latest Dovecot 1.16 with Postfix for my FreeBSD box. Since v1.1.4 (if i remember correctly), the following message is displayed whenever starting Dovecot. "Info: If you have trouble with authentication failures, enable auth_debug setting. See http://wiki.dovecot.org/WhyDoesItNotWork" Besides that, Dovecot works great but I wonder what this message is all

smbclient problems
Hi I am having some problems retrieving files from a particular share on an NT4.0 server using smbclient. Other files from shares on the same server transfer correctly. I first noticed the problem when my AMANDA backups stopped backing up this particular share just after xmas/new year. Some investigation revealed the problem was always with the same file/group of files. There is no problem

dovecot-auth failed: Not enough space
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear all, I've been trying to get a Dovecot IMAP service running under HP-UX 11.23, IA64. The system has 6GB of spare space under /var and at least the same amount of RAM free at the current time. I've compiled from the latest source (1.2.4), using the following options: # CC="/opt/aCC/bin/aCC" ./configure --prefix=/opt/dovecot

Dovecot 2.1 stable packages for Debian?
Hello all, it is strange, but Dovecot 2.x still didn't make it into Debian (not even backports). It exists in testing, but that's still a long wait. OTOH there are official packages built every day (referenced from the download page). This puzzles me: why isn't there a build created from each stable, released version of Dovecot, so that users of Debian Stable could benefit from the new
