[PATCH] appliance: touch /etc/fstab when enabling the network (RHBZ#1224795)
Sadly, the dhclient-script shipped as part of isc-dhcp-client in Ubuntu unconditionally reads from /etc/fstab without checking for its existence. Since no package holds /etc/fstab, this file will not exist in the appliance, cause dhclient to fail (actually keep looping calling the failing dhclient-script) when the network is requested. As a workaround, touch /etc/fstab just before enabling the

I'm trying to add a long list of mount options in my fstab, and break the entry over 2 lines, as it goes off screen. Taking this as an example: # This works # #/dev/hda9 # original settings # LABEL=downloads /downloads ext3 defaults 1 2 # This doesn't work # #/dev/hda9 # new options LABEL=downloads /downloads \ ext3 defaults 1 2 Using the '\'

pam_mount: /etc/fstab or suid root smbmount?
I recently got to set up a Linux workstation in a mostly-Windows environment. I'm trying to use pam_mount from: http://bazar.conectiva.com.br/~epx/pam_mount/ to automatically mount smb shares from a Windows 2000 server at login. (pam_mount is a pam module that grabs the passwd you use for login, xdm, ssh, or any other pam module and uses it with smbmount to automatically mount shares when

[PATCH] kinit: Add ability to mount filesystems via /etc/fstab or cmdline
This patch adds the ability to mount filesystems via an embedded fstab or via the kernel command line. When using the kernel command-line, the following format is required: 'kinit_mount=<fs_name>;<fs_dir>;<fs_type>;<fs_opts>' Multiple mount options can be specified; they are evaluated in the order they appear in the command-line. [mntent]: line x in /etc/fstab is bad
Hi ! I'm having trouble trying to mount a win2k share from my linux box with the mount command. My linux box is a RH 7.2 and samba version is 2.2.4. It is part of the windows domain 'VALBONE' and the smb.conf option "winbind use default domain" is set to yes. So when the user slautier log into the machine, it does it without specifying the domain name. slautier is a member

/etc/fstab and windows share problem
Hi, I`ve got a problem with samba and /etc/fstab. I have a second computer running Windows XP SP2 with Western Digital MyBook USB2 external hard disk attached. The Disk is shared over windows network with a label "My Book (J)". I can manually mount this samba resource by typing "sudo mount -t smbfs -o fmask=777,dmask=777,guest '//win/My Book (J)' /media/MyBook", but

passwords for Samba mounts in /etc/fstab
I am trying to create a samba mount to be mounted automatically on a Redhat 7.2 machine. I can mount the drive from the command line, but would like to have the drive mount on boot. I have added it to /etc/fstab, and get prompted for a password when I run mount on it from the command line. I know it is possible to pass the "password" option, or the "credentials" option to

[PROBLEM] setting data=writeback in /etc/fstab for /
Hi everybody, I had a problem which you may be interested in. I set data=writeback in /etc/fstab for each of my ext3 partitions (because it complains on "mount -o remount, data=writeback" with "ext3: journal mode can't be altered on remount" or similar) and rebooted. Problem: / was mounted read-only, I couldn't remount it (because mount appends the options from fstab,

[PATCH] NFC: Cleanup iteration over fstab entries in inspect_fs_unix.c
Select non-comment labels using an augeas path to return the correct nodes in the first instance, rather than applying a regular expression to all results. Iterate over returned matches using a char** iterator. Use asprintf() to ensure the path string buffer is the correct size. --- src/inspect_fs_unix.c | 50 +++++++++++++++++++++--------------------------- 1 files changed, 22 insertions(+),

Should fs_passno in /etc/fstab be always set to 0
That seems to be the indication given by this webpage http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/ext3-usage.html However, default install of Redhat 7.2 setsup fs_passno(6th field of /etc/fstab) as 2 which asks you if you want to run fsck after an unclean shutdown The question is, is fsck required after an unclean shutdown or should one just rely on journal replay. What does fsck do when it sees an

[PATCH] inspection: Fix parsing of btrfs subvolumes in /etc/fstab.
The code to parse btrfs subvol entries in /etc/fstab failed if the entry had more than one comma-separated option, for example: /dev/sda4 /home btrfs rw,user, subvol=foo 0 0 This commit fixes that code to use Augeas correctly.
