How did I Break ssh?
Every attempt to connect to anything from a new FreeBSD
system results in a "host key verification failed."
ssh 127.0.0.1 even fails this way.
I started with a new FreeBSD4.7 installation and
un-tarred the contents of another 4.7 system to essentially clone
this one.
My tar ball purposefully did not have the /etc/ssh
directory in it so as to not overwrite any of the files in the

What is this Very Stupid DOS Attack Script?
We have been noticing flurries of sshd reject messages in

Macintosh + Samba integration
I have been searching through the docs and on the web to no avail.
I work at a university and we are moving our fileservers to new
hardware.
The problem is, nothing seems to integrate Mac's and Win box's happily.
We have a large user base using samba already, but when mac's pick up
the same share via CAP, CAP creates files to deal with the dual 'stream'
nature of files from a

Can u prevent a macintosh from leaving it's of trash files on the shares?
I recently installed DAVE on two of the office Macintoshes.
(running 0S9.2 and OS8.6)(DAVE is mac to windows(samba) filesharing
utility)
I use SAMBA from the testing version of DEBIAN.
The mac's leave alot of files on the shares that i find annoying.
Is there a method I could use to prevent the mac from leaving it's
"trash". (filname filtering perhaps)

Backing up from windows to macintosh
I want to backup from a windows machine to a Macintosh. All of the
guides that I've seen describe the other direction.
Worse, they all seem slightly different, or inconsistent.
The first thing that I'd want to do should be simple: an rsync -az
--delete of the entire drive, to back up all of the files.
But that's not everything on the windows machine. And this is what I

passwords and NIS+
Hello,
I'm new to samba. Trying to get it running on Solaris on Intel
using NIS+. I configured it with the --with-nisplus --with-nisplus-home
and --with-automount. I don't seem to be able to get authentication
to work.
I've created the smbpasswd file from my nis+ tables, set the perms
per the docs (encryption.txt to name one) and when I try to run
smbpasswd to set a password for

stable libmilter leaks kqueue descriptors?
A few weeks back I upgraded my mail server to -STABLE from a 4.2-STABLE
incarnation that had been running for years. Part of recompiling
everything on the box involved disassociating my use of the
sendmail port I was using and to use the base sendmail in -STABLE.
-STABLE builds with libmilter, so I simply recompiled one of my
milter clients with the milter headers, objs, etc that were produced

Macintosh binaries; was: Rcmdr and Macintosh
I am a Windows user and trying to make life easier for my Mac-using students. After investigating the Mac situation more, it appears that the key to easy use is having precompiled binaries. However the packages I am interested in (Rcmdr and its required package, car) do not have one. I do not have easy access to a Mac, so I have a plea to Macintosh users: could someone please create them if it is

[PATCH] Request for testing: BSD kqueue ioloop handler
Hello,
attached patch adds experimental ioloop handler which uses BSD kqueue API.
It compiles and survives my small test program, but not thoroughly
tested because I have no suitable BSD machine to torture.
Brave owners of (Free|Net|Open)BSD please test and report results :)
Best regards.

PATCH Add support for kqueue in ioloop subsystem
Hey,
I noticed that there was an ioloop "module" (if we can call it that) for
select and poll and decided to add one for kqueue (aka kevent) BSDs high
performance descriptor multiplexing API. I haven't done any of the
configure glue stuff but the code is complete and works well. kqueue is
available on all recent versions of FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and Darwin
(and therefore MacOS

Patch: ioloop using kqueue/kevent for FreeBSD
Hi,
I would like to submit the attached patch. It implements IO loop using
FreeBSD's kqueue/kevent syscalls. It is based on snapshot of CVS HEAD as of
2005-12-12.
I could only give it limited testing on FreeBSD 5.4 but it works fine so far.

macintosh's and I don't know how to play speex files on macintosh,

Samba And Macintosh(netatalk)
Hello,
Anyone out there running a production network supporting PC and Macintosh
clients using samba and netatalk. we are currently using NT 4.0 with
AppleTalk-IP software. Sharing the same files with the Macs and the pc is
a must.
I read someplace that samba 2.2.2 supports Appletalk. Is this true?
Thanks,

freebsd 7, panics - kqueue?
Hi,
We have a issue with a server pretty much just running dovecot, there's
about 250gb of maildirs which has about 200 simultaneous connections to
it running on freebsd 7. The machine has stayed up for about 8 days before
it panics but sometimes panics after about 24 hours.
We are running a PAE kernel (with ULE scheduler) as the machine has 2 (4
core processors) and 8gb of ram, dovecot is

[LLVMdev] Dynamically adding exception frames in the macintosh OS X
Hi
I am porting a JIT compiler to the Macintosh. This software runs under
windows and Linux. In both systems there is an interface for adding
exception frames dynamically when you add code compiled on the fly.
Under linux the (not documented) gcc function __register_frame_info does
the trick. Under windows, Microsoft has added an official API for this,
that works without problems.
