got a listener on 993
Hello, Before I get in to my question is ssl on 993 or starttls on 143 better from a security perspective? I've noticed that I've got a dovecot listener on port 993, below is my doveconf -n output I don't have an imaps listener uncommented should I do so and set it's port to 0? Will that disable the 993 listener? Thanks. Dave. # 2.3.10 (0da0eff44):

Listening on multiple ports
Many thanks - it doesn't work for me, however. There must be something in my configuration somewhere else, perhaps nothing to do with Dovecot, that prevents this. :-) On 27/04/18 18:55, Aki Tuomi wrote: > Yep. > > Aki > >> On 27 April 2018 at 09:50 Derek Harding <rev.derek.harding at gmail.com> wrote: >> >> >> I appreciate your suggestion.

How to use dovecot only as POP3 server / prevent it from creating .imap directories?
Dear all, on our mail server, I let sendmail deliver incoming messages to a file in mbox format called "inbox" in each user's home directory. Now I would like to use dovecot as POP3 server so that users can let their MUA download their messages via POP3. I do not want to use any IMAP functionality. The POP3 part works with the configuration shown below, but nevertheless there is a

All, Just move our mail servers over to a new mail server running postfix 2.11.1 and dovecot 2.2.13 and getting the subject line errors in my /var/adm/files. People are complaining of loosing their connections to the mail server. I've been able to google this error but haven't found fix for this yet. NOt sure where to put the drop-priv option in the config files either. Any

Turn off IMAPS?
Hi I've upgraded to 2.1.7 and finally decided to turn off imaps and pop3s because these days everyone uses tls over 143 anyway. But it's on and I can't figure out why. I only have non-ssl versions specified: protocols = imap pop3 I've stopped and started and the ports are still open and netstat says dovecot is listening on them.. mail:~# netstat -tulnp | grep dove tcp 0

Dovecot 2.0b4 configuration issue, listen config option?
Hi, In my 1.2 setup I have pop3 running on ip x.x.x.2 and imap on x.x.x.7 In 2.0 how do I say listen x.x.x.2:110 x.x.x.7:143 so that pop3 is not listening on the .7 ip? I tried putting a listen = ip in the listener section but it complained. I cant figure it out and cant seem to find any 2.0 specific documentation, trying to search in the wiki directory of /usr/local/share/doc/dovecot/wiki but

How to configure dovecot imap to listen on multiple ports?
I need my dovecot imap server to listen on ports 143, 993, and also 30143 and 30993. What syntax do I use in (I presume) the /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf file to do this? Thanks! Rick

Listening on multiple ports
Hi, I want dovecot to listen for imaps (ssl) on both 993 and a non-standard port 8839. I've tried using variations on the inet_listener entries in 10-master.conf as shown in a couple of threads on here but none of the attempts have worked. Can someone provide me with a cut-and-paste solution and confirm into which file it should be placed (i.e. is the dovecot.conf format using the

Upgrade 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
Hi, After upgrading Dovecot from version 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2, we are sporadically seeing lots of these errors in the error log on many of our servers: imap-login: Error: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable - http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SocketUnavailable The issue is causing significant delays and/or timeouts on login. From what I can tell, this

Changing the imaps port #
Dovecot 2.3.4, FreeBSD 11.2 Due to comcast buisness ISP intercepting imaps I need to have my clients connect to non-standard port (9999). Previously I had been using stunnel to receive the imaps connection and forward it to the imap port over 127.0.0.1. But I would like to retire stunnel and have my imap clients connect remotely. I have configured the imap-login service - service imap-login {

IMAP Folder Mail Separator
Hi, I have a fedora21 install with dovecot-2.2.18, and when creating a new subfolder with thunderbird, the actual folder name is "Folder1^Folder2" with a carat as a separator, instead of creating Folder2 in the Folder1 directory. Is this a thunderbird problem? I don't recall having this problem prior to upgrading to fedora21, so thought maybe it's a dovecot problem. Maybe the

Contradiction in documentation
Hi, I'm reading the tinc documentation [1], chapter 4 Configuration. I notice an apparent contradiction, and I wonder which part is correct. [1] http://tinc-vpn.org/documentation/tinc_4.html In part 4.3 "How connections work" this is stated: "If it [tinc] sees one or more ?ConnectTo? values pointing to other tinc daemons in that file, it will try to connect to those other

two listeners with different "driver = " configs

I know I can do this: > service imap-login { > inet_listener imap { > port = 143 > } > inet_listener imap2 { > port = 144 > } > } But I'm unsure how to configure imap/143 with "driver =
