Up to date guide/information Sendmail SMTP Auth
Hello all,
I've been googling my brains out since yesterday looking for up-to-date
information on this matter, and have found information that is anywhere
from 15 to 5 years old. I'd really like some information that much more
up to date on the subject. Specifically configuring Sendmail SMTP
authentication (_no smart host stuff_).
I've got Sendmail 8.14 installed on a CentOS 7.3

mails from this machine under cron. The SMTP relay i need to use

Disabling Spamassassin on outbound email
Does anybody have a good method for disabling SA checks on outbound
email under sendmail running the spamass milter? Some of our Vhost
accounts are getting flagged as spam on the way out due to being on a
dirty ISP network.

running tomcat as non-root user.. (/var/run pidfile issue)
hey folks, we are migrating our tomcat setup over to centos 7. Im
converting init-scripts over to systemd services and whatnot.. One thing
that Ive noticed is that my systemd startup script cant seem to write to
/var/run as a non-root user to drop a pidfile.. If I create a directory
in /var/run owned by my user, it gets wiped out on reboot.
Ive searched and found this

Stupid Question I know...
I'm wanting my Centos 4.0 box to boot up into TEXT mode, like all of my
other Linux servers do. Unfortunately, it only boots into graphics
mode and there's some issue with the keyboard (it controls the mouse,
very poorly). I can SSH into the box so I can re-config it.. But just
don't know where to look in this new version. I tried GRUB.CONF and
even the SYSTEM_CONFIG programs.. No

Constant disk activity
Hi,
I am running centos on a laptop and the HD keeps on making noises every
so often, even when I go to runlevel 1 and stop everything that could
be doing so (hotplug, smartd, cron, anacron, atd, syslogd...).
Is there any way of finding out what is accessing the disk? Not only it
shortens battery life, it is annoying while working in a quiet room.
Thanks

SMTP auth with Sendmail
Dear All,
I have two machines, a Centos 3.4 machine and a Centos 4.1 machine.
I have used the same sendmail.mc file on each, and 3.4 machine does
plain SMTP auth with no problems, compiling the same mc file on the 4.1
machine gives this error:
xxxxx [x.x.x.x] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
in the logs, it doesn't even try to authenticate, the cyrus sasl rpm

Problem with timezone configuration
Hello,
I have a problem configuring the timezone on a CentOS 5.5 server.
I would like the timezone to be Europe/Paris.
I have followed the steps described here:
http://www.wikihow.com/Change-the-Timezone-in-Linux
I think I have changed the appropriate configuration files ( /etc/localtime, /etc/sysconfig/clock ), but the output of the ?date? command still indicates the timezone is EST.

selinux prohibiting sssd usage
I've got a CentOS 6 machine that's slated to go into production
providing some web and development-repository services.
Part of the environment is gitweb, which works as expected with one
glitch: SELinux doesn't allow gitweb.cgi to query sssd to display who
owns the repositories.
The audit log entries are pretty straightforward, e.g.,
type=AVC msg=audit(XXXXXXXXXXXX): avc:
