Hello list, after upgrading dovecot from 1.0.15 to 1.2.2 (and carefully reading through the upgrading notes in the wiki), I got sieve, quota and fts up and running, but I'm now suffering some kind of performance problem with the STATUS command. Symptoms: Reading mail on the IMAP server itself with "mutt", no TLS/SSL, connected through loopback interface. Whenever I idle a bit and

Why is direct invocation of dovecot preferred over inet inclusion?
I'm used to putting things in inetd and, 1) should dovecot crash, I'd think it would get restarted if it was invoked from inet's imap-login 2) it would get started well after the boot ...wouldn't that be preferable. WINS and INet~Services name
Hi, I've posted before about the problem with WINS and the INet~Services name IIS uses. (http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2005-August/110189.html) The problem I get is when any host running IIS tries to renew its names with the Samba WINS server (e.g. after the default 5-day period) the renewal fails for *all* names for the server. As I understand it the problem is with Samba's WINS

BIND9_FLATFILE to BIND9_DLZ | Error parsing DNS data from '/opt/samba/private/dns/th01.inet.zone' ()
Hi all, I got some issues with adding DNS records. I still use BIND9_FLATFILE on my first DC. Maybe this is the problem? What I would like to try is to change from BIND9_FLATFILE to BIND9_DLZ. I change the backend from BIND9_FLATFILE to BIND9_DLZ twice (in the past or other servers) but I don't remember how I did this anymore! What I did try is the following... and that didn't work. I

FYI: issue with arpa/inet.h on SunOS 5.9 (old gcc?)
This just information of my experience installing R on SunOS 5.9 today, not a request for help. (in case anyone cares, and if not, I apologize for the distraction) I am building R 2.6.0 (patched; svn revision 43319, 2007-11-01) and encountered the problem described below. I believe the problem is an old gcc (version 3.0.4, built some 5 years ago), because the warnings do not occur when I

Sieve - multiple cores/CPUs
Hi All, I have a quick question about the Sieve in Dovecot. I know that this is a plugin so probably it depends on the Dovecot itself but: is it able to use multiple cores/CPUs when doing the filtering? does the filtering for each mail user run on a separate core? Thanks, Pawel
