MDBOX DSYNC error: Broken physical size in mailbox
Hi All,
I currently have a small Dovecot server (Server A) and I've installed a
second dovecot mailbox server (server B) and am trying to sync mailboxes
from Server A to Server B.
Both servers sit behind two dovecot directors on separate hosts and have
identical config files (doveconf -n output below). Mailboxes on Server A
are on an NFS mount.
Server A has been working fine with no

1.1 master auth not expanding static userdb variables
Can dovecot-1.1 deliver work with static userdb? I'm currently running
dovecot-1.0.12 and postfix-2.4.6, with virtual users' maildirs all owned
by vmail and mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/%Lu. The following
definition of the dovecot transport in postfix/master.conf works fine with
dovecot-1.0:

FTP DNAT not working - "Server sent passive reply with unroutable address"
Hi all!
I am a long time lurker, but have not posted until now.
My old trusted firewall machine broke a couple of weeks ago and I replaced it
with a XEN domU that is using DNAT and has two interfaces. The firewall domU and
the FTP server domU are both guests on the same dom0. All three machines are
running Debian/etch (stable) and Shorewall has version 3.2.6.
I can''t get FTP to work

little submissions feature request
Hi!
I'm using dovecot for a while now and really like it. Actually dovecot
1.5 on
Debian AMD64.
Now I have to use a cifs mounted maildir directory and found it to be
quite slow,
though I already tuned it a lot. The only way to get it fast was to put
INDEX and
CONTROL files on the local disc and so outside of the maildirs.
Performance is
great but the problem is with submissions to

Design details of high performance dovecot cluster
Dear All,
Currently we are running a mail system for 10000 users each 2GB mailbox. At
present we have 5 mail servers where users mailboxes are distributed almost
uniformly. We have a HP SAN Storage (HP EVA 6400) where mailboxes are
stored. We partition the storage into five vg and each is mounted on the 5
servers. We are using postfix and dovecot.
The system was running fine but currently we

Load Balancer setting for Public Servers
Hello,
I have finished setting up the load balancer with IPROUTE ... also patch the
kernel to support DGD and now it''s working fine with the valuable guide at
LARTC website, Julian Anastasov, and the kind people in this mailing list.
Now I would like to launch a web server and a ftp server to the public but
I''m stuck into a problem and really need your help.

deployment survey
Hello Mongrels,
Building on the last messages about Fastthread, can we get a detailed
survey of the different ways people are deploying their applications?
It will help with near-future Mongrel development.
Please include the following things:
* Framework, if any (Camping, Merb, Rails, Nitro, Ramaze, IOWA, Rack...)
* Mongrel version
* Mongrel handlers used (rails, dirhandler, camping,

We had been using a loadbalancer with persistence to reduce the
problems, and today I switched to everything running on a single box to
avoid any cross-node contention. Unfortunately, the problem still
happens, even when they were all running

4sec latency when using director
Hi,
I've been running dovecot for many years, but now i've hit a strange
problem.
when retrieving imap there is sometimes in 1 of 4 imap requests a 4sec
latency.
* notes:
- connected directly to the backends this latency disappears
- removing a director from the loadbalancer(lvs) so i'm the only connected
to the director
this latency disappears too
I would appreciate some feedback

Samba using Virtual Servers (load balancing)
Hello fellow samba users,
Our company uses samba for all fileshares/printing/PDC on
two SUN E3500's. We like to replace these with about 10
Linux 19" XEON (pizza)boxes. The question: Are there
any implementation out there using a loadbalancing cluster
doing samba?
A simple diagram of the setup I have in mind:

Hi all,
i''m having a somewhat stupid problem I can''t get rid of.
we''ve a server that accepts incoming world connections
from a load balancer (10.10.10.4) to port 80,
and we still want to serve incoming ssh/http from the firewall (10.10.10.1)
routed to this host (10.10.10.90) and their reply packets of cause shall be
send out through the firewall.

Performance based choices
I've stopped trying to find a HowTo that suits me right away, and
instead I am happily trudging thru the Dovecot wiki, article by article.
I have right up front thought of one question, a general one, and some
detailed versions of that same question:
Generally, is there much general performance and reliability background
data available for making the basic choices?
Say: 1st.

Expuning & Purging doesn't fully remove emails?
But is that not adviced in the manual[1]? I am also in the process of
setting up dovecot behind a haproxy. Still testing with this. I was
wondering why one would choose haproxy and not eg dovecot proxy (with
director)

Single bandwidth pipe
Hi all,
Can someone help me in creating a single bandwidth
pipe out of two or more bandwidth providers.
Say, I have 2 internet connections
1) 128 K
2) 128 K
I want to use both of them on a single linux box.
Is there any way to do so.
Of course loadbalancing can be done, but I don''t want
loadbalancing. I want to have a single pipe of 256 K.
Some time back I was suggested to use squid on

dovecot authentication Local + MySQL
Hi Friends
I am facing an issue with dovecot configuration and i am describing it in a
nutshell.
We have a dovecot setup under ultramonkey load balancer and in loadbalancer
we have a check defined for pop service which queries mysqldatabase for a
particular user name/password after every 2 minutes to check if service is
live or not..
Things are fine till here .
Now The catch is if somehow that

Switchtower for production?
Hello,
The company that I work for will be developing a large webbased survey
(for a government institution) somewhere in Q1/Q2 of 2006. I''m
investigating the technological possibilities and Rails is certainly a
candidate. The survey application will have to perform under very high
peak load, and the exact specifications of the hardware are not known
at this point. I''m assuming
