Postfix / Postini question
I have a mail server that handles several domains. One of these domains has decided to use Postini. For those not familiar with Postini, you set your MX records to use their mail servers. They filter mail, and deliver you only the clean virus/spam free mail. The idea is to only allow incoming mail from their mail servers so spammers are unable to send to your mail server directly. List delays
Is it just me? After the mail list server upgrade, the average delivery time for messages to the users list is between 4 and 5 days. The Dev list seems fine! Some POP3 questions
Hi everyone Been spending the whole day on the wiki and in the list archives on using dovecot for POP3 mail. I'd like to present my findings and ask for some feedback. Our current software setup: * Courier-IMAP running POP3/IMAP * Postfix MTA * MySQL backend for user and login info As for the system layout, it looks like this: * NFS server which is the same server that houses single

Questions regarding Dovecot's POP3 implementation
Hi all I'm considering moving over my POP3 service from qmail-pop3d to Dovecot for the following reasons: - Support for Maildir++ which I have yet to implement - Already using Dovecot for IMAP, so makes sense i.t.o Maildir++ - Support for SQL based user authentication My primary concerns are performance and security. Before I go down that route of migrating away from qmail-pop3d, I'd

Echo from a mail loop in list
Every time I post to the list I get the following response indicating that there is a mail loop. the recipient maxx@digital-system.it has some problems with looping. Hi. This is the qmail-send program at smtp.register.it. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Migration questions...
Hi All, We are soon to migrate our mail server from one piece of hardware to another and we would like to take this opportunity to optimize things. As a result, we would like to replace "uw-imapd" and "qpopper" with "dovecot". The version we will be installing is 1.1.13-2, as this is what is available through the latest Debian stable backports. We will also be using

smtp question
Correct me if I'm wrong here but when a message bounces and the mailer/mta generates a bounce message shouldn't the from field have <> in it instead of an email addres (ie. MAILER-DAEMON@domain.com). The list was nailed with over 13,000 bounce messages(and they keep coming) from ONE list subscriber and I wasn't sure if their smtp server wasn't doing what it should. I

Installing from source (git, hg) on a fresh debian box
Oye 3 days on this now, my head hurts. I have spent what seems like 40 hours in the last 3 or 4 days reading, and I realize xen is in the middle of this transition of getting into mainline kernel, issues with dom0 etc etc. Ok, so i have come across a few howtos/tutorials on installing xen dom0 kernel, using git to download a patched? kernel tree, and getting xen source from mercurial. Below is my

Issue with exim and auth protocol
Hi, I'm trying to set up exim (4.83) as a submission server, and need to set up the dovecot authentication in exim. I'm having an issue with that (documented at <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=756258>) The problem is that exim doesn't follow the handshake as described here: <http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Design/AuthProtocol>. The wiki page says that the
