slow squat fts index creation
Hi all, ive been playing with squat indexes. Up to about 300.000 emails in a single mailbox this was working flawlessly. The search index file is about 500MB at that time. Ive now added some more emails, and at 450.000 or so emails im seeing a serious problem with squat index creation. It takes...f o r e v e r . The .tmp file is being so slowly, it will probably take 2-3 hours to create. Upto

2 problems
Hi all, im testing dovecot as a replacement imap server and noticed 2 problems in 0.99.10.5. if you use dovecot/pop on an account who's quota is fully used, dovecot will ungracefully stop. This will only happen when the account is first accessed by dovecot (for instance, when offering IMAP to an existing userbase using dovecot, or when the index files have inadvertently been deleted). +OK

What causes dovecot to rebuild dovecot-uidlist?
Hello, In what situations will Dovecot 1.2.11 rebuild its uidlist? I am using the maildir storage format, and I am also modifying the uidlist manually (so it's possible I could jack* things up). I have found some related code in maildir-uidlist.c: maildir_uidlist_next. 1) Blank filename or UID 0 2) Any UID not being greater than the proceeding UID 3) Any UID being greater than ~4 billion. 4)

Hi, I have dovecot 2.0.20 running (its an old version, I know, it came from the stable archive at OpenCSW) with Solaris SMF integration working fine. It enables and disables okay. dovecot-uidlist is not up-to-date
Hi, ?Am using dovecot-2.2.10-8 on Centos-7 and everything seemed to be totally fine for many years. Now am trying to migrate our on-premises mail server to the cloud and I had to get some statistics. I was doing that using the doveadm utility. Unfortunately I found that the numbers don't match if I check the real messages in my Maildirs. For some account doveadm was reporting number of

Dotlock dovecot-uidlist errors / NFS / High Load
As of late our four node dovecot 1.2.13 cluster has been experiencing a massive number of these dotlock errors: Created dotlock file's timestamp is different than current time (1295480202 vs 1295479784): /mail/user/Maildir/dovecot-uidlist These dotlock errors correspond with very high load averages, and eventually we have to turn off all but one server to stop them from occurring. possible nfs issue
Hi all, we've started receiving complaints from users that seemingly use more quota than they actually have. We noticed that these users have (in some cases many) .nfs files in their mailspool. Some of our admins checked their own dirs, and noticed them there as well. This could of course be unrelated to dovecot (kernel issue, netapp issue) but maybe somehow has an idea about if dovecot could

dovecot-uidlist is not up-to-date
Tried that. It rebuilds index based on dovecot-uidlist. But not the dovecot-uidlist based on actual mail data. :( Fil On March 21, 2018 11:58:21 PM EDT, "@lbutlr" <kremels at kreme.com> wrote: >On 2018-03-21 (17:15 MDT), Dmitry Filonov ><filonovd at enders.tch.harvard.edu> wrote: >> Now the question is if there's any way to tell dovecot to rebuild

Dovecot deliver uidlist issues
Hi all, Lets say I have a maildir which doesn't contain any dovecot files but has some emails lying around in it. If I add a message to this mailbox using deliver, dovecot creates the uidlist file with a single entry (the message that was just delivered). When I then log in to the mailbox, all the other messages are added into the uidlist file in the normal order (directory list order I

Hey all, I upgraded some servers today from Debian Lenny to Debian Squeeze, and after the upgrade I started getting dovecot crashes. I was on 2.0.13 but got these there as well, and hoped upgrading to 2.0.16 would help. It didn't. Anyone have an idea? dovecot-uidlist locking
Hi all, I've a dovecot server setup and occassionally clients cannot get mails from their inbox. When I inspect the maildir for that user, there is stale dovecot-uidlist.lock file, and imap process keeps waiting for release of the lock. Is there any other method to perform locking on dovecot-uidlist instead of using dotlock mechanism? It is creating maintenance problems if I need to remove

Clients and dovecot-uidlist
Hello, I'm trying to figure out what exactly (and why) are the consequences of a lost or removal of the dovecot-uidlist file on an IMAP client (Thunderbird for instance). I took for granted that it was that the client would download all messages again since it might be confused by some UID changes. But I don't really see why (on the IMAP protocol level) and I don't know how to
