RPM questions about trying to build php-ldap --with-ldap-sasl
Hello CentOS People,
I'm trying to build the php-5.0.4-5 subpackage 'php-ldap' from the
centosplus repo --with-ldap-sasl. Strangly the stock php-ldap package
is linked with libsasl2 et al but the ldap_sasl_bind PHP function
is not available which leads me to conclude that it was not built
--with-ldap-sasl.
To this end, can anyone help with the following questions:

CentOS as Development Laptop?
Hi,
Is CentOS good for a desktop machine?
I have been using Fedora but the whole GNOME 3 debacle has me
scrambling for something else. I have a few "minimal" CentOS servers
but does anyone here use CentOS on their laptop?
Does wireless and suspend work ok?
Are there packages for the usual desktop stuff like libreoffice,
sylpheed and so on?

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

Affordable KVM over IP switch
Hello,
Are there any KVM over IP switches that are not thousands of dollars?
Ideally a 3-4 port switch for a few hundred seems reasonable to me.

No suspend after update
I have two suggestions about how to keep - for a while - the 388 kernel.
First - Use DNF to remove the bad kernels. Then when a new one comes in
it will take one of those slots.
Second - Increase the number of installed kernels. That change is in
yum.conf.

If the number is too high, you may run out of room in /boot

Correction. The Dell Latitude 14 7000 has RJ-45 on the back. It is
very comparable to the Lenovo T460 actually. Anyone run CentOS
successfully on either of these?

CentOS 7.5, Apache 2.4, Kerberos
Hi List,
My goal in sending this email is to get some direction on where to start
looking to solve my problem. Thank you all in advance for reading through
this and providing any guidance!
I'm working on moving to new servers, upgrading from CentOS 6.7 to CentOS
7.5. In this move, we are also upgrading from Apache/2.2.15 to Apache/
2.4.33. Our servers are all sitting behind a load

Corrupted transaction log file, dotlocks..?
I'm new to Dovecot but I've been able to get it up and running on a test
basis without too much difficulty. I'm running dovecot-stable-20050508
with maildir, under Linux (an old Gentoo setup that's been stable for
about 2,5 years). Mail client is Thunderbird.
However, in the course of experimentally copying the accumulated
household email (95000 emails from the last 10 years)
