LDAP & static userdb
hi..
im just testing 2.0 before upgrading to v1.2 :)
in auth-ldap.conf.ext i found
# If you don't have any user-specific settings, you can avoid the userdb LDAP
# lookup by using userdb static instead of userdb ldap, for example:
# <doc/wiki/UserDatabase.Static.txt>
#userdb {
#driver = static
#args = uid=vmail gid=vmail home=/var/vmail/%u

Authenticate Postfix through Dovecot with slightly different LDAP settings
Hi,
I'm setting up a server with Dovecot (2.2.2) and Postfix (3.1.0).
Dovecot authenticates against LDAP and Postfix uses Dovecots SASL. That
already works fine. But I would like to have slightly different LDAP
settings for Dovecot and Postfix. Current setup:
passdb {
driver = ldap
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf.ext
}
userdb {
driver = ldap
args =

Maildir + quota + listescape = wrong dir location
I've just stumbled across a strange thing which seems to be a bug.
It happens in 2.0.9 as well as 2.0.11 in which I tested it.
dovecot -n output:

dovecot permission denied problems.
I am trying to setup dovecot on a FC4 machine. Access to the machine is
provided through pam. When I login to the machine my home directory is
mounted over nfs from a central file server. I have dovecot installed
and running but it can't seem to access my home directory. When I try
and access my mail I get the following three lines in /var/log/maillog:

Master user and missing folders
Hello again.
I am trying to use a master user. The login works. However, a LIST
command gives me only the INBOX. Is this to be expected? When logging in
normally, I do get the full list of folders.
(using Dovecot 1.1 rc3.)

Separate quotas not displayed correctly
Hello all,
My system is set up to have quotas both on /var/mail, where emails are
received, and on /export/home, where users' homedirs are.
But the client (Thunderbird) shows the same /export/home values both for
the Inbox and for the folders in the homedir, so a user cannot know
where she stands on her /var/mail use.
This is Dovecot 1.1.5. As per the wiki, the dovecot.conf file contains

Problem with multiple ldap passdb
Hi mailing list,
I'm currently running dovecot 2.2.13 from Debian Jessie, all is running
fine. However I am attempting to merge 2 LDAP authentication sources.
I would like to attempt to authenticate against the first authentication
source, if that fails either by password fail or user not found,
then attempt the next LDAP server.
I've added the a passdb and userdb entry for the new

MailCrypt: Encrypted user keys configuration with LDAP & cryptokey generate
Hi, I try to use the MailCrypt plugin with Floder encryption and
encrypted user keys, using LDAP. I use Dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0)
I follow the wiki: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailCrypt
doveconf -n and dovecot-ldap.conf.ext attached to this message.
I well configured slapd to let dovecot's dn query the userPassword
(hashed password SSHA). I use fusiondirectory-mail plugin:

Courier migration and vpopmail with dovecot-lda
I've been using Dovecot in some fresh installs lately and have found
it fairly easy to configure. However I'm starting on a migration
that involves moving from some very old software (ancient vpopmail,
qmail and Courier).
On the Courier front, I've reviewed the migration page in the wiki,
and it looks like the main concerns are just matching the namespace
and then using the migration

is there a known exploit of Samba "reply_netbios_packet()" Buffer Overflow Vulnerability please ?
Hi,
We're running samba 3.0.25a as a PDC on FreeBSD 6.1 in our office and
few weeks ago, our samba PDC (and soon all the service hosted on this
server) stop responding suddenly :-/
Everything went back to normal as soon as we disconnected from the
network, all the hosts that were in the same room as the 10.0.0.20
host (after asking the domain user connected at that moment to this
host, do

Authentication/Penalty disabled (socket mode=0) introduces constant 5 sec delays (2.27 on debian 9)
Hi,
I can confirm that in the bad behavior, the 5 second delay occurs at
each AUTH in our case. I think the configuration we have kill auth
process at each end of AUTH (and fork a new one for next next AUTH). I
think the "disable" flag is local to the process that is killed / respawned.
A collegue of mine, Laurent Guerby, has found a workaround for us and
it's findings seems

Creating a contended section of bandwidth with HTB and IMQ
Hi All,
I''m trying to create a contended section of bandwidth using IMQ. I have the
imq0 device up and running, with traffic passing through it.
Firstly, I need to throttle the entire device imq0 to 2mbit/s.
I would then like to add throttle rules for individual IP addresses, allowing
them to pass up to 512kbit/s each, as long as imq0 has not reached its
2mbit/s.
The configuration
