CONDSTORE + QRESYNC extensions
I wrote a mostly-working CONDSTORE support for Dovecot today. You can
try it with:
hg clone http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-condstore/
There are a few problems left:
- STORE FLAGS.SILENT should be sending FETCH MODSEQ updates
- When SELECTing a mailbox while CONDSTORE hasn't yet been enabled in
the session, Dovecot returns a higher HIGHESTMODSEQ than what's used
after CONDSTORE is

Thunderbird caching problem
Using a fairly simple dovecot config (which obviously needs some max limit tweaking) we have problems with IMAP synchronization between thunderbird clients.
Two TB clients in the same IMAP mailbox will, from time to time, show different views of the same INBOX folders, when TB caching is enabled. The only fix is to right-click on the folder, go to "Properties" and use the "Repair

IdentityFile vs IdentitiesOnly
Hi folks,
I've got a moderate number of keys in my ssh config file.
Problem: Very often I get an error message like
Received disconnect from 2001:db8::8077 port 999:2: Too many authentication failures
Authentication failed.
AFAIU the ssh-agent is to blame here, trying out all keys
he has ever seen. This conflicts with MaxAuthTries 6, set by
default on the peer.
The solution seems to be to

Capability info in hello message not complete?
Hi,
one Fedora user complains about not some troubles after update to dovecot 1.2.
He suspects wrong capability information given by dovecot 1.2
In dovecot.conf he uses imap_capability= option. While response to 'A
CAPABILITY' respects imap_capability value, the capability info in hello
message does not.

using RedHat binary packages?
Hi folks,
AFAIK CentOS uses RedHat's source RPMs for building the next CentOS
release. I am not sure about the bootstrap procedure and the infra-
structure packages, so lets put these corner cases aside.
RedHat's "regular" binary and source packages are based on open source
(GPL2, GPL3, Apache license, whatever). For building the binary RPMs

question about pubkey and passphrase
Hi folks,
Since Docker can bind-mount every .ssh directory I am looking for
some way to forbid unprotected private keys.
AFAICS it is currently not possible on the sshd to verify that
the peer's private key was protected by a passphrase. Can you
confirm?

Capability problems dovecot 2.0
Hi,
I had some problems connecting TB 2.x with dovecot 2.0. TB2 complained about not being an IMAP4 server. TB 3 worked.
It seems that dovecot 2.0 doesn't return capabilities when queried. Maybe some wrong config, thoug?
Here are the debug logs from TB2 comparing dovecot 2.0 (not working) and dovecot 1.2 (working):
Dovecot 2.0:

public folders grayed out
Hi folks,
I have configured a public folder as described on the
Wiki (more or less; see below), but in TB3 I see the
"Public" folder grayed out. I cannot subscribe. Toggling
the subscriptions flag doesn't help.
What did I miss here? Any helpful comment would be highly
appreciated.
If this is a TB3 problem: Which MUA would you suggest?

Problem with Dovecot and BlackBerry
Hi all,
i've got a strange behaviour with a BlackBerry Classic Phone (BBOS
10.3.2.2876) in combination with Dovecot 2.2.13 while trying to fetch
mails.
Before burying myself into debugging sessions, i try to get an
understanding if the following is a Client- or a Server-specific error
in the behaviour:
CIGA8 UID FETCH 10009:10035 (UID FLAGS) (CHANGEDSINCE NOMODSEQ)

Dovecot 2.0.rc3 Capability response
Hi
I have a question regarding the IMAP CAPABILITY command behavior of
Dovecot 2.0.rc3.
While connecting to a Dovecot 1.2.4 server and requesting the supported
capabilities, Dovecot returns all capabilities:
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE
STARTTLS AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot ready.

I have a question : i've upgrade dovecot from 1.1.4 to 2.0.9 and
everything is fine except thunderbird clients , that no longer show a
popup when new mail arrives. Anyone know why ?

BINARY capability not working correctly?
Hello,
I have trouble with some attachments not working on Horde and
Roundcube. I made a ticket to Roundcube webmail and they tracked down
it to Dovecot not responding correctly to BINARY FETCH:
http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1490532
What is causing Dovecot to answer NIL? Is there an issue in Dovecot?
If I want to disable to BINARY capability in Dovecot I need to use

Assertion failed with imapc after upgrading Dovecot from 2.1.7 to 2.2.9
Hi !
I have an old Courier IMAP and in front of it, I have put a proxy cache
with Dovecot/imapc.
I use Debian Wheezy (stable) which package Dovecot in version 2.1.7.
I have tested the upgrade to Debian Jessie (testing) which package Dovecot
in version 2.2.9 but an assertion is thrown :

HIGHESTMODSEQ tracking
Hello,
I'd like to follow up on someone else's old thread:
http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-April/082624.html
I understand that Dovecot (that 2012 discussion was about version 2.0.18)
can return "HIGHESTMODSEQ 1" upon SELECT if persistent modseq tracking was
never enabled for a mailbox.
I'd like to get a clarification on how to enable proper persistent modseq

incremental backups of maildir via rsync
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi folks,
I would like to do incremental backups of the users' maildir
directories to a dedicated backup host (using "rsync -SHa"
and rsnapshot).
Problem is: Dovecot bloats the incremental backup by changing
the file names again and again.
Is there some way to tell Dovecot to keep meta information
separate from the file names?
Any
