SharedMailboxes in a distributed environment
Hello folks, I'd like your thoughts on the following problem: If one is using v1.2+ IMAP ACLs to allow users to share their mailbox and uses SQL as dictionary backend, every dovecot server would know which ACLs to enforce. But as the wiki states here "http://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Shared" dovecot needs access to the other mailbox. Does that automatically mean that one

sieve 0.1.14: vacation encodes Subject twice
Hi! I noticed the following problem in dovecot-1.2-sieve-0.1.14: The following vacation causes trouble with the Subject line: if not exists ["List-Id", "List-Post"] { vacation :days 7 :addresses ["test at netcologne.de"] :subject "=?utf-8?b?w4TDlsOc?= sadasd" "Bin gerade nicht hier."; } As you can see, the Subject is already MIME encoded

Wrong behaviour in pdb_get_set.c: pdb_get_pass_can_change_time?
Dear List, we have several server installations in local schools serving files with samba. The users are stored within an ldap database. We then tried to set the smabaPwdCanChange time somewhere in the future, but had to see, that samba didn't honored the given value. I then got the source, looked at the logs with an high log level and searched my way though it to two important functions,

expire plugin doesn't find mail location
Hi! After searching for hours now, I give up and have to ask here. I try to use the expire plugin but it always tries to expire my mails instead of the mails of the user. I read about the "Mail location setting problem (v1.1-v1.2) and configured a "mail" extra field in the userdb, but that doesn't have the effect I want. I have not idea, what I could try out more, so I ask

Options mail_nfs_storage and mail_nfs_index not in 2.2(.13) example config anymore?
Hey dovecot-users, did I miss anything anywhere about the configuration variables "nfs_storage" and "mail_nfs_index" being removed from the example configuration in 2.2? In 2.1 they where both in 10-mail.conf commented out and set to their default "no". But with 2.2 they are not in any of the exmaple config files anymore. doveadm is still showing the variables and

Can you "doveadm search" with mailbox location instead of a user (-u option)?
Hey dovecot-users! doveadm import offers to use i.e. a maildir as source and then import into a users mailbox referenced via "-u" option. If one wants to import only certain emails from the source a search-query can be given as well. I was wondering if doveadm search also does offer to search a mailbox referenced by filesystem path i.e. doveadm search

What is that error all about: "Timeout leak: 0x4bd230"
Hey dovecot-users, we are running dovecot 1.2.15 and are seeing some odd errors in our logfiles: --- dovecot.log --- 2010-11-22 12:34:56 imapserver local2.warning dovecot dovecot: IMAP(username at domain.tld): Timeout leak: 0x4bd230 --- /dovecot.log --- Those errors only appear if connections are done using IMAP (via Horde's IMP Webmail). With POP3 we don't see any of those errors. We

Managesieve AUTHENTICATE with IDN using UTF-8 or encode into ACE?
Hey dovecot-users, clients that speak telnet based protocols like http, smtp usually encode IDN (International Domain Names) containing UTF-8 characters into ACE (ASCII Compatible Encoding) punycode. I am wondering what the case was with managesieve (RFC 5804). For example if I was using a username like "user@???.example.com" with the AUTHENTICATE command. Would that need to be encoded

Defer email via LMTP when there is 'no space left on device' instead of rejecting it
Hello dovecot-users, (This problem was being discussed a little in this thread from 2011: http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-May/059009.html) I noticed (using LMTP) that Dovecot handles 'no space left on device' just like an 'over-quota', if I read this part of method "static int client_deliver(struct client *client, const struct mail_recipient *rcpt, struct mail

Sieve puts incoming message into inbox on any problem with submission_host
Hello dovecot-users, I have a question/suggestion regarding the submission_host feature of the lda (either via dovecot-lda binary or lmtp) in combination with sieve. When trying to deliver message to a mailbox and this message has a sieve redirect action applied to it, dovecot is using the configured smtp server to forward the message just fine. Unfortunately, if the server configured for

rc18->rc19: read/unread/reply flags broken
Timo, This might be a bit vague, but I have noticed that rc19 seems to have broken the read/unread/reply flags in imap. My officemate has had problems with messages that are read and marked as read then mysteriously get remarked as unread the next time email is checked. I've had problems where I reply to a message and it does not get marked as "answered". We didn't see this

read/unread flags broken in rc19 ?
Hi, I'm posting to relate that on debian unstable dovecot imap 1.0rc19 I'm experiencing exactly the same as seen on this thread: http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2007-January/018937.html All mail dating from last sunday (only that day it seems) gets reset to unread after I mark them as read after a period of time. This with thunderbird. Thanks for any help on this topic :) -- St?phane

Retrieving unread message count
Timo, I'm working with a webmail client that periodically polls unread message counts for a list of folders. It currently does this by doing a LIST or LSUB and then iterating across all of the folders, running a SEARCH ALL UNSEEN, and counting the resulting UID list. Eventually I'd like to see it using RFC5819 LIST-EXTENDED, but that requires a fair bit of work. In the mean time I'm

2.0.7: emails read emails become unread
Hi My users are reporting that in public folders, emails that were past read suddenly got unread, sometimes even after marking them as read again. Didn't have such problems with 2.0.6 I think.
