Unicorn + RUnit Rails Not Killing Old Master
Hi,
I''m deploying Unicorn on a Rails application with RUnit. Technically
I''m using Chef''s deployment tools, if any of you are familiar with it
(https://github.com/opscode-cookbooks/application_ruby) but to be clear
they aren''t doing anything magical, so this is purely an issue with
RUnit and Unicorn.
The TL;DR of the following post, which has lots of

ANN: capistrano-runit-tasks 0.2.0
I''d like to announce the second release of capistrano-runit-tasks,
available from http://rubyforge.org/projects/cappy-runit/
It now supports:
* File based templates
* sv as the service control command in addition to runsvctrl
* A much simpler interface for creating additional services.
More work still needs to be done though!
== TODO
* Allow add_service to create more than one

logging to stdout
Hey,
I''m using mongrel supervised via runit. I''d like to capture mongrel logs with
svlogd, which just requires logging to stdout/stderr. But, the Rails app is
logging in its own log directory.
Is there a way to make both mongrel and Rails log to stdout/stderr?
Thanks,
Mike

dovecot/imap-login TLS?
# ps auxwww|egrep -i imap-login
dovenull 11879 1.4 0.9 83484 77656 ? S Nov20 19:12 dovecot/imap-login [822 connections (822 TLS)]
What exactly is TLS in this context?
All connections from imap -> imap-login?
All clients connecting to an imap process?

Windows XP and Samba 3.0.22 -- don't mix?
All,
I desperately need a resolution to this issue. I've asked once (about a
day or two ago), but I haven't heard anything back. The only reason I
press the issue is I may because without a quick resolution, I may be
forced to switch over to AD (cry!). I submitted a request via Bugzilla
but I saw a slightly similar problem with 3.0.20a that still hasn't been
resolved, so I

Hello
Does anybody have any advice, or even some ready-made configuration, for running logcheck on svlogd log files? svlogd is the logging daemon provided by runit, a replacement for sysv init with service supervision.
svlogd, and thus runit, are incompatibile with vanilla logcheck, because svlogd logfiles are rotated when they reach a certain size, not at a certain time. Therefore when logcheck

CTDB node stucks in " ctdb-eventd[13184]: 50.samba: samba not listening on TCP port 445"
Hi Martin,

no,
root at ctdb-<HOST>:~# ps auxwww | grep smbd
root 13192 0.0 0.0 12780 940 pts/0 S+ 13:05 0:00 grep smbd
There is no smbd, nmbd is running.
Ahh, but the log says:

Sieve-scripts won't replicate
Hi,
I am trying to use dovecot replication for a two-way sync. And whatever
I do, sieve-scripts won?t replicate. Mails replicate near
instantaneous. When I disable the sieve-script in roundcube, the other
server will create in the home of the user on the other side a folder
sieve/tmp but enabling won?t create the roundcube.sieve and the
symlink .dovecot.sieve -> sieve/roundcube.sieve

mail_max_userip_connections
What is the appropriate setting for mail_max_userip_connections ?
My POP3 connections seem to be mostly 1 at a time, but my IMAP
connections are often 3 per user per IP. Is this appropriate?
If I change the IMAP setting to mail_max_userip_connections=1
will it break things for the user?
I am trying to improve this situation:

Problem with process_limit
Hello,
i have a problem with the process_limit configuration.
Occasionally, it happens that the dovecot.log shows this line:
master: Warning: service(imap): process_limit reached, client connections
are being dropped
So I checked, the process number, with the command:
ps auxwww | grep imap | grep -v login | wc -l
and it shows 1024.
Then, i edited the file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf and

"wbinfo -u" considered harmful towards Winbindd...
Our setup:
Windows AD realm with ~115K users (and numerous groups etc)
FreeBSD servers with Samba 4.7.6 and Samba 4.9.3 (both show the same growth)
We just noticed that one of the ‘winbindd’ daemons on the servers seems to be growing and growing forever. A bit of detective work pointed us at the “wbinfo -u” command being that culprit. As part of a systems monitoring script we ran that once a

Automatic sysvol replication through detection of filesystem events
I thought this can be useful to someone, so here it goes.
I am using automatic SysVol replication with the help of "watcher", a
recursive incron.
https://github.com/splitbrain/Watcher
"Watcher is a daemon that watches specified files/folders for changes
and fires commands in response to those changes. It is similar to
incron, however, configuration uses a simpler to read ini

So, what about clustering and load balancing?
Hello world,
so, with beta2 of Dovecot 2.0 being available, what is the preferred
way to achieve load balancing and fault tolerance? As far as I can see
it, there are basically two options:
1) Use a HA shared storage, export either a cluster filesystem or NFS,
and have your dovecot servers mount that file system. Load balance
these servers (Cisco ACE, ldirectord, ...) and there you go. Overall

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working
Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I
can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows.
But it's still not working.
To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across
the following:

I run 'kill <pid>' which sends SIGTERM. This should shout it down
gracefully.
But even with
