Is it possible to use sieve when delivering via pipe to the dovecot deliver command ?
Hello, I am using Exim with this delivery configuration: virtual_delivery: driver = pipe command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d $local_part@$domain -f ... I have enabled manage-sieve and uploaded a simple sieve script that I can see on the server. man page of /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver says it supports sieve. Mail debug is enabled: $ dovecot -n | grep debug mail_debug = yes Delivering a

Differences in deliver and IMAP
Hi I've now got Dovecot 1.0.1 authenticating with PostgreSQL for the IMAP service, but deliver doesn't seem to work the same. I'm using the "prefetch" passdb, but deliver doesn't seem to recognise it. Here's the log for a deliver attempt: dovecot: Jul 01 16:51:35 Info: auth(default): master in: USER 1 andy.shellam at mailnetwork.co.uk service=deliver

Dovecot-lda/deliver - how to deliver root's mail?
There's a good chance I could be missing something obvious here, as I can't find much documentation on the LDA other than on the wiki, which is sparse. Local mail delivery works for normal users, but when attempting to deliver mail for root I get this error: Jan 30 13:42:50 apollo deliver: Running as root isn't permitted Both sendmail and dovecot run as root on my server -

Variable expansion in LDA vs POP/IMAP
Hello all, I'm trying to understand when exactly the variable substitution happens in Dovecot, as I get different results in the LDA and in the POP/IMAP server. Here's my general setup: - Postfix MTA, delivers mail via Dovecot LDA - users list sits in a database - mail directory is stored in the database, but with Dovecot variables inside Delivery works perfectly fine,

deliver vs lda
deliver is the binary name. but it's configured inside protocol lda {} section. This is getting annoying, any thoughts on what would be a good unifying name? a) deliver binary, protocol deliver {} b) lda binary, protocol lda {} c) dovecot-lda binary, protocol lda {} d) mda binary, protocol mda {} e) dovecot-mda binary, protocol mda {} f) something else? In any case protocol lda {} would

dovecot-deliver occasionally fails to deliver, leaving no clues
Hello, I have a FreeBSD 7.1 x86 system using dovecot with postfix and a mysql user database. Everything works completely fine, except that on occasion dovecot-deliver fails. When postfix tries to redeliver the message in about 15 minutes, it succeeds. So this isn't a very big problem, just an annoying puzzle. Here's the postfix log. At first, I thought it could be a postfix

Deliver: command time exceed limit
We use Dovecot on a cluster (10'000 domains, 30'000 account) without any problem with pop/imap. We use Dovecot 1.0 RC10 Now we use virtual transport from postfix for mail delivery. We need the Dovecot LDA for sieve support. We test this solution on some domains with success. But if we change the configuration of all our domains, we have a lots of bounce with this error in postfix

Differences in "Delivered-To" header between deliver and LMTP
Hi, I'm transitioning my server over from using the deliver LDA and LMTP. Suddenly a bunch of sieve filters stopped working, and I noticed the contents of the Delivered-To header are different. Using Dovecot's deliver LDA, the contents are a bare email address (foo at bar.com). Using Dovecot LMTP, they are in brackets (<foo at bar.com>). Is there a reason why this isn't

How to make dovecot-lda/deliver mark a message as seen
Hello everybody, I am using dovecot 2.0.13 and have a special case here in which I want a mail that is delivered locally with dovecot-lda to be marked as "seen". In dovecot 1.1.7 I succeeded to achive this, by modifing deliver.c so that upon adding a -S switch to the command arguments, the flag MAIL_SEEN was added to the call of mailbox_copy(). This seemed to work pretty good.

Can Wiki entry on dovecot LDA/deliver be clarified?
Hi guys, I am having some problems relating to this "Fixing lda user_query error introduces new fault in mail delivery" and I'd like to know if the above wiki comment holds even if a user_query is configured to return the correct mail folder. According to this LDA delivers only to the mail_location setting. Does that mean that it will stick to the value in dovecot.conf or will the

Why deliver+usercheck? deliver+MTA?
Hi, I successfully configured dovecot using virtual users (and LDAP/AD). deliver is the LDA and verifies if the user exists (as recommended in the WIKI). However, the howtos in the Wiki say *nothing* about the case that the recipients should be verified *before* receiving the messages (prevent backscatter, ...). All configurations in the dovecot-Wiki (postfix and exim) just accept the mails

Dovecot LDA (deliver) stopped working
Hello, One day a week or so ago, a server that's Postifx w/ Local users, dovecot w/ LDA decided to stop working. The only thing that stopped is the LDA portion, the rest all works fine. I also posted to the postfix mailing list yesterday but wasn't able to debug any further. Here's the situation: if I use mailbox_command to point to deliver, postfix will always put the message in the
