v2.0.beta4: conversion of v1.2 configuration
Hi Timo, I've just tried to convert my v1.2 configuration to a v2.0 configuration. Below a few obsolete warnings, among others "mail_executable has been replaced by service { executable }", was an interesting error: "doveconf: Error: duplicate listener: 198:" The broken parts of the converted configuration: # 2.0.beta4 (84ffb38839b9): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux

Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail
Hello! Currently I'm trying to integrate dovecot's deliver program into procmail. So basically I'd write a patch for procmail to deliver not directly into the mbox file but delivering with the dovecot deliver program. Do you think this is a good concept? For testing I use the commands discussed below. Currently I'm having a problem that deliver doesn't recognize the

v1.1.20 vs v1.2 & v2.0
I am currently running v1.1.20 and was wondering if there is any compelling reason to upgrade to v1.2 or v2.0? For example is there any security updates in v1.2 or v2.0 that aren't included in v1.1.20? The other major thing I would be interested in knowing is there any speed enhancements in the newer versions? I am using basic PAM Auth and Maildir mailboxes on a Linux box. Let me know

public mailbox not showing up in web client
Hello, I'm trying to set up a public mailbox where users can receive notifications out of. I'm not getting any errors from Dovecot 2.1, but nothing is showing up in my user's web clients. In each /home/vmail/public/mailbox folder right now I just have one called testbox I have a dovecot-acl file with: user=testuser1 lr user=user1 lr etc. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Released Pigeonhole v0.2.0 for Dovecot v2.0.2
Hello Dovecot users, I have finally finished the first release of Pigeonhole for Dovecot v2.0. The most notable change from previous Dovecot v1.2 Sieve/ManageSieve releases is that all is now integrated in a single package and there is no need to patch Dovecot anymore to gain ManageSieve support. Changelog v0.2.0: * Merged Sieve and ManageSieve packages into a single Pigeonhole

Compressing Maildir mails on delivery
Now supported by v2.0. Also as a patch to v1.2: http://dovecot.org/patches/1.2/zlib-compress.diff I'm not really sure if I should commit it to v1.2 code tree. The code contains ugly copy&pasted io_stream_copy() and v1.2 is supposed to be feature complete.. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Dovecot v2.0.beta3 quota using userdb
Hello Timo, I'm playing around with the new Dovecot v2.0.beta3 and don't seem to be able to get quotas working from userdb. I didn't change the SQL query which was working for 1.2.10. Feb 20 19:34:06 ubuntu-test dovecot: auth: sql(test,192.168.156.99): SELECT home, mail, uid, gid, concat('*:storage=', quota_limit, 'MB') AS quota_rule FROM users WHERE username =

config file parsing, tab characters
Hello, I am using the latest dovecot 1.1.2 with postfix, and using doveco deliver command for LDA. I really love dovecot, and how it has progressed over the years. However I have noticed that if I put a TAB character in the dovecot.conf file, it sometimes does not parse the file correctlty, and complains about missing postmaster_address etc, even though they are there. So I reformated my

v2.0 / Master/config rewrite
If anyone's interested, I updated my master/config rewrite to latest Dovecot v1.1 tree and added it to hg: http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-master-rewrite/ It probably doesn't work, but with the exception of plugins it compiles anyway. :) I'm thinking that maybe after v1.1.0 I could continue with the rewrite and create v2.0 after all instead of v1.2. Just look at how much cleaner

Roadmap to future
v1.1.0 is finally getting closer, so it's time to start planning what happens after it. Below is a list of some of the larger features I'm planning on implementing. I'm not yet sure in which order, so I think it's time to ask again what features companies would be willing to pay for? Sponsoring Dovecot development gets you: - listed in Credits in www.dovecot.org - listed in

Dovecot v2.0 wiki
I forked the wiki to http://wiki1.dovecot.org/ is the old docs for v1.x http://wiki2.dovecot.org/ is the new docs for v2.0 For now wiki.dovecot.org points to wiki1, but once v2.0 is released I'll change it to point to wiki2. I symlinked the user directory, so users should stay synced between the wikis. The main reason for wiki2 is to be able to describe Dovecot v2.0's actual behavior

Released Pigeonhole Sieve v0.1.14 and ManageSieve v0.11.10 for Dovecot v1.2.9
Hello Dovecot users, Due to personal matters I haven't had time to do anything in the last few weeks. Before that I provided some pre-releases and since nobody indicated problems with those, I release them definitively now. I hope the shit storm has blown over, so that I can dedicate more of my time towards Pigeonhole development. The Sieve release involves a large architectural change,

1.2 , mail_location & mbox_snarf
Hello, I'm currently running 1.1.20 and I'm planning to upgrade to 1.2.10 I've read carefully the wiki page "Upgrading Dovecot v1.1 to v1.2" and a few messages concerning mail_location parameter but I still don't know what to change in my configuration in order to keep it working after the upgrade. I'm using mbox format and mbox_snarf plugin. dovecot -n :

Need simplest method for providing alternate mail location
I am looking to migrate my DC V1.2 from mbox to maildir format....and want to do this in stages, user group by user group rather than in one horrendous fell swoop....since I'd rather fell things didn't happen. Since I'm running sendmail/procmail, I can change the ~/.procmailrc to change the writing of the INBOX, but the IMAP mail location access info is knottier when one wants to

Winbind syslog errors and Domain Local Groups
Hello all. I'm relatively new to Samba, and haven't been able to track down a solution to this particular problem. I use Samba/Winbind to authenticate FreeBSD machines against a Windows 2003 Active Directory. That all works fine. The problem is that groups in the AD of type "Security Group - Domain Local" are causing winbindd a lot of grief. Every time the winbindd daemon is
