mail_max_userip_connections=10
Hi,
A couple of questions rather than a problem for once!
We've got our Dovecot server running smoothly now apart from our MD. He's
having problems with mail_max_userip_connections. He has 3
(Phone/Laptop/Tablet) items that all connect to the server at about the same
time. Which means he's frequently running over the max_userip_connections.
My questions are:
Is there

Sieve-scripts won't replicate
Hi,
I am trying to use dovecot replication for a two-way sync. And whatever
I do, sieve-scripts won?t replicate. Mails replicate near
instantaneous. When I disable the sieve-script in roundcube, the other
server will create in the home of the user on the other side a folder
sieve/tmp but enabling won?t create the roundcube.sieve and the
symlink .dovecot.sieve -> sieve/roundcube.sieve

Meaning of mail_max_userip_connections?
Hi,
I set mail_max_userip_connections in our IMAP configuration to
mail_max_userip_connections = 10
to allow users 10 parallel connections. It seems that this also limits
the amount of parallel connections from one IP but different users?!
Our users mostly accessing the IMAP server by a webmailer or proxies.
Thus, all users (>10000) come from only 5 different IP. However, I got a
lot of

dovecot: imap-login: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections)
Hi, has anyone seen this issue before as I have not.
I'm a long time dovecot user and I don't see anything in the config that
should cause this.
The mail.log gets hit a lot of times with this same log message:
dovecot: imap-login: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded
(mail_max_userip_connections)
I have noted that it is more evident when I try to mass delete many

mail_max_userip_connections from userdb query
Hello.
Is still true that mail_max_userip_connections cannot be overriden in userdb
query? Want lower global and raise for some logins.

Increasing mail_max_userip_connections and sys resources
In our low-traffic server we have always kept the default value for IMAP
mail_max_userip_connections (10).
The server has been working fine! (Thank you Timo for this!)
However, recently we have been having:
Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded
errors both for IMAP and webmail users.
Thus, we have now changed the value to 100.
The questions:
1.Might this lead to

Missing mail_max_userip_connections setting
Hi,
I'm having a problem with a webmail client trying to open multiple IMAP
connections with dovecot, and hitting a cap. I see from the error logs
from this program that it's hitting the mail_max_userip_connections cap,
but I'm not seeing this value as defined in the dovecot.conf file. Would
this automatically get set to a certain value by default if it's not
present?
Thanks,

dovecot/imap-login TLS?

dovenull 11879 1.4 0.9 83484 77656 ? S Nov20 19:12 dovecot/imap-login [822 connections (822 TLS)]
What exactly is TLS in this context?
All connections from imap -> imap-login?
All clients connecting to an imap process?

Windows XP and Samba 3.0.22 -- don't mix?
All,
I desperately need a resolution to this issue. I've asked once (about a
day or two ago), but I haven't heard anything back. The only reason I
press the issue is I may because without a quick resolution, I may be
forced to switch over to AD (cry!). I submitted a request via Bugzilla
but I saw a slightly similar problem with 3.0.20a that still hasn't been
resolved, so I

per-user mail_max_userip_connections in userdb extra fields
Hi,
The documentation at https://wiki.dovecot.org/UserDatabase/ExtraFields
states that "It's possible to override settings from dovecot.conf", as
well as the following:
> If you want to override settings inside sections, you can separate
the > section name and key with '/'. For example:

Hi Martin,

no,

root 13192 0.0 0.0 12780 940 pts/0 S+ 13:05 0:00 grep smbd
There is no smbd, nmbd is running.
Ahh, but the log says:

1.2.10 and questions
Hi,
1) Why dovecot -n doesn't display default values? At least it didn't display
mail_max_userip_connections(default): 20
mail_max_userip_connections(imap): 20
mail_max_userip_connections(pop3): 10
if I had set ONLY mail_max_userip_connections (to be =10)
2) "Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded

Fastest restart of dovecot after upgrade: HOW?:
I'm running dovecot under runit:
#!/bin/sh
echo '/var/core/%p' > /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern
ulimit -n 8096
ulimit -c unlimited
exec /usr/local/sbin/dovecot -F
(that way, together with incron, I can automatically generate the
coredumps I'm posting all the time)
If I apply a patch and recompile, what is the fastest way of
restarting dovecot?

Problem with process_limit
Hello,
i have a problem with the process_limit configuration.
Occasionally, it happens that the dovecot.log shows this line:
master: Warning: service(imap): process_limit reached, client connections
are being dropped
So I checked, the process number, with the command:
ps auxwww | grep imap | grep -v login | wc -l
and it shows 1024.
Then, i edited the file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf and

mail_max_userip_connections
Hi
Sometimes, I hit mail_max_userip_connections limit. As far as I know
I'm the only person that does, but I would like to find out why before
someone else hits the limit.
Is there a command available that can list the connections per IP?
I'd like to find out which client is causing this. Or do you have a
better suggestion? Should I just raise the limit (it's still at the
