Problems with Outlook clients after a migration
Hi,
I'm doing the final tests before I migrate my 10000 users from RHEL 4 +
dovecot 1.1.20 to RHEL5 + dovecot 1.2.11, and I'm having some serious problems
with outlook 2007 clients disconnecting very often.
In dovecot's log I see lot of connects and disconnects from these clients (as
oposed to my kmail, that just connects once when I come in and disconnects
when I shut it off).

Dovecot Solutions company
I recently created Dovecot Solutions Oy (Ltd) company with two other guys. We sell Dovecot support, development, etc.
I was planning on announcing this only after we get an actual web site, but since I already told about it in Linuxtag today, I might as well tell everyone. The upcoming web site should have some more details, but if you already know you want to buy something, let me know. :)

System Users with IMAP
Hi All,
Sorry if this is a dumb questions, but what methods are available for
retrieving mail for a system user i.e www-data. Basically my setup is
just a normal Dovecot-IMAP which is working fine for shell users, but I
want to be able to read mail for system users via IMAP.
Is this doable?
Cheers

Over quota
Is there any way to still be able to login/delete email via
dovecot-imap when the user's filesystem quota is exceeded? We just
moved from courier where this was still possible but now a user over
quota can login but cannot get a list of messages and the logs show
this:
May 27 10:24:45 pop1.gwtc.net dovecot: POP3(cody at howaboutnow.net)

Can't get it working
I get dovecot to work and answer when telnet to 110 both local and from
another computer.
But it shows nothing in the log files except it's running.
Here's the log and other info:

disabling outgoing mail ?
We're using roundcube as a method of access to a read-only email archive
served via imap/dovecot. I was thinking of disabling outgoing mails by
fiddling with the roundcube code, but thought it might be possible to
disable the outgoing functionality from dovecot?

Admin access to shared mailboxes
Having enabled shared mailboxes - is there a way to provide access to
all users' mailboxes by a given user? Instead of having to manually
provide ACL rights to every mailbox of every user?

dsync, separator, but really - Default Namespace
Just made the leap from 1.2 to 2.0.6 - and several maddening config
typos I think I have a working system again! Getting closer to
converting from maildir to mdbox, but first...
Trying to use dsync gives me:
dsync(root): Fatal: Mail locations must use the same virtual mailbox
hierarchy separator (specify separator for the default namespace)
Ok - I 've never configured namespaces

Forwarding loop
I used to filter my mail through gmail with the following sieve rule.
if not header :contains "X-Forwarded-To" "bmihulka at hulkster.net"{
redirect "bmihulka at gmail.com";
}
With the gmail account set to forward to bmihulka at hulkster.net
After upgrading to dovecot 1.2.9 and postfix 2.7.0 from whatever was with
debian etch. I get a forwarding loop error. I

Question about lda & auth_socket_path
Hi all,
storing e-mails (using postfix) via dovecot-lda fails and I assume this
is related with a auth_socket configuration problem. But I am at a dead
end, so perhaps anybody has got a hint for me:
This is dovecot-2.0.8 on Solaris 10:
10-auth.conf and its include:

userdb {
driver = static
args = uid=104 gid=104 home=/some/path/%u

Dovecot 2.X, built from source, no extensions?
Greetings list.
Pardon the ignorance.
I am working on CentOS 5.2. Unfortunately the repo version of Dovecot is 1.0.X. This works fine mind you but it doesn't have ORDEREDSUBJECT Threading support, which I need. I downloaded 2.0.11 and built from source, but now I don't see any Threading support, not even REFERENCES. I looked to see if I was missing a ./configure option but if I am, it

Sieve: unknown tagged argument ':create' for the fileinto command
Hello, I've upgraded from dovecot 1.2.x with sieve to dovecot 2.0.11
with sieve. I've noticed that folders are no more created at delivery
time now. I've read that I have to do two things:
lda_mailbox_autocreate = yes
in dovecot.conf
and fileinto :create in the sieve script. Now the error message I receive is:

Ldap and secondary PosixGroups
Hello all,
I'm using "Pam Ldap" for my users (Debian Lenny).
getent passwd :
*m.ambrosy:x:2000:100:m.ambrosy:/home/m.ambrosy:/bin/bash*
getent group :
*l_admin:*:2000:m.ambrosy
l_personnel:*:2001:m.ambrosy
l_mail:*:2003:m.ambrosy*
As you can see, in LDAP, user "m.ambrosy" (PosixAccount) is defined with
gidNumber = 100 (local group "users") and uidNumber =

Splitting up mail_location setting?
mail_location setting has started becoming a bit bloaty. I'm not
actually even sure why I've kept adding more parameters to it rather
than just adding new settings. It's also caused confusion, because
people try things like:
mail_location = mbox:/var/mail/%u
mail_location = mbox:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
Although the first one has been giving ok enough error message for a
long time now and

Question about the pop3 feature "leave messages on server for a certain period of time"
Hi all
I am missing something on the the pop3 "leave messages" rationale.
Although the UIDL feature solves for the MUA the problem "whch mails
should be downloaded",
how the duration that these mails should be kept on server, say 10 days
for one MUA and 20 days for another MUA for the same account,
is resolved on the server?
thanks in advance

.dovecot.sieve as Mailbox
Hello,
I current using dovecot 2.0.11 and with all other 2x versions occurring the
same problem.
When i create the file .dovecot.sieve and compiled one .dovecot.svbin on
user homedir, the imap show it like a folder, example:
doveadm mailbox list -u user at domain.com
..
..
*dovecot.sieve*
*dovecot.svbin*
..
..
I current using maildir and mail location is:
