is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?
Hello people, I used primarily mutt and sendmail for many years. (And elm before mutt.) All my mail was saved into ~/Mail. Messages from, say, smith at foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to find something that smith had written, I would just cd to ~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase. Is there a script

MCMCglmm multinomial model results
Hi David, Thanks for your comment. I haven't posted the data because they are unpublished and include human subjects so there are issues with sharing on a list serv, but I thought perhaps someone had encountered a similar problem and would already know the answer. I will reconsider whether my University's ethics approval would allow me to post the data and update the question if I think

Specifying priors in a multi-response MCMCglmm
1. (Mainly) Statistical issues are generally off topic on this list. You might want to try the r-sig-mixed-models list instead. 2. However, I think a better answer is to seek local statistical expertise in order to have an extended discussion about your research intent in order to avoid producing yet more irreproducible psychological research. Cheers, Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with

Specifying priors in a multi-response MCMCglmm
Hi Bert, That was distinctly unhelpful, and your outward hostility to a field you obviously don't understand reveals a regrettable level of ignorance. By the way, my research is Anthropology despite my job title. Michelle On Tue, May 1, 2018 at 2:48 PM, Bert Gunter <bgunter.4567 at gmail.com> wrote: > 1. I didn't see any hostility to any field. Bert, like many of us, objects to people blithely and arrogantly applying possibly

MCMCglmm multinomial model results
Hi, Thanks in advance for any help on this question. I'm running multinomial models using the MCMCglmm package. The models have 5 outcome variables (each with count data), and an additional two random effects built into the models. The issue is that when I use the following code, the summary only gives me results for four of the outcome variables. Here is the code for my model: m3.random

Specifying priors in a multi-response MCMCglmm
Hi all, I previously emailed about a multinomial model, and after seeking some additional help, realized that since my response/outcome variables are not mutually exclusive, I need to use a multi-response model that is *not* multinomial. I'm now trying to figure out how to specify the priors on the multi-response model. Any help would be much appreciated. My data look like this: X

Effect sizes
I'm just curious . . . if effect sizes are so important, and possibly a better way of looking at results than p-values, since they don't depend on effect size (Kline,2004; Murphy and Myors, 2004), why don't any of the classical tests, like t.test or glht specified for Tukey's posthocs, return effect sizes? I say "classical" because I'm sure there may be packages out

Read only nfsroot and diskless booting CentOS 6?
Does anyone have any good how-to's or documentation on setting up read only root NFS for pxe booting diskless computers? A few months ago I stumbled upon an official Redhat doc through a google search(not hosted by redhat and I cannot find it anywhere on the Redhat site) written by Dave Kline named "Configuring diskless clients with Red Hat Enterprise Linux" from 2011. It seemed to

Hi, Dovecot v2.3.7.2 on Ubuntu 18.04LTS I have configured for imap proxy to imap.gmail.com However whilst the imapc_host setting is working, imapc_port is not - it ignores the value I set and dovecot always tries to connect to gmail on port 143 (as per error log output). I have the imapc settings in the 10-mail.conf which gets loaded by dovecoat.conf Looks like a bug. Any assistance would

Problem with gsl package
Hi all, I am new to R and am writing after having contacted Robin Hankin, who maintains the R gsl wrapper. I am trying to use an AFNI (neuroimaging analysis) program that depends on the R gsl package. When I try to use the script I wrote, I get an error that led me to suspect the gsl package was a culprit. When I do library("gsl") within R, I get: Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath

Centos and Software RAID
I purchased an Intel D945GNT motherboard and it comes in the BIOS with an option to create a RAID 0 or RAID 1 volumes using my existing two SATA disks. However when installing Centos 4.3 x86_64 I see the the installer recognices the two drives and does not "see" the RAID 0. Is that ok? Should I disable the RAID in the BIOS and then go for a LVM+RAID 0 setup in the installer ? Since it

For you old-timers, an RS232 question about data rate confirmation.
Hello all. This is a question that I should be able to answer, but the old grey cells aren't working. My Google-Fu must not be up to snuff, either. I have a MOXA IP-RS232 converter that I'm going to be using over an RF WAN and I need to confirm the actual data rate that I'll be able to achieve. I have the drivers loaded (/dev/ttyr00) and a loopback plug on the end of the device. I

IBM x226 lockups, convert CentOS to RHEL 3.0
I have a friend who has been having an intermittent problem with his nice, shiny new IBM x226 server. It's a Xeon processor, 1.5Gb RAM, hardware RAID controller running CentOS 3 The system will will sometimes run for a couple of weeks, then simply lock up -- nothing on the console, no response to pings, no "caps-lock" lights, no kernel panic indicators, nothing in the logs to
