dovecot imap hangs
All, I recently did a fresh install/setup on centos 5 to replace my older courier-imap and all seemed to go well until today I started to notice that it simply hangs. I use thunderbird and squirrel mail and after a while it seems like I"m simply rejected. I'm almost guessing that it has to do with the session timing out and then dovecot is unwilling or unable to renew the session. I

Upgrading from 1.2.8 to 2.0.6: INBOX not selectable in Thubderbird (greyed and italic)
I recently upgraded from 1.2.8 to 2.0.6, I am using Maildir, and Thunderbird is showing the INBOX grayed out and in italics, and does not show new messages in it (it shows messages previously downloaded). This occurs when Thunderbird is restarted (if I upgrade dovecot, TB keeps working fine until I shut it down, and at next startup it greys out the inbox). All the subfolders of INBOX work

converting from maildir to mdbox ?
I?m considering moving from maildir to mdbox, but don?t quite see how I should do the conversion with minimal downtime. Our userdb is ldap, and the we use this setting to point to the users maildirectory: user_attrs = mailMessageStore=mail=maildir:%$:INDEX=/indexes/%1u/%1.1u/%u,mailQuota=quota_rule=*:storage=%$ i.e. every user has a "mailMessageStore" attribute in LDAP that points to

Problem overriding default quota limit
Hi, We get user's quota limit from LDAP. ?It works fine when user has quota attribute in LDAP (this is when it's different from default quota). But when user doesn't have quota limit attribute Dovecot doesn't take default value defined in quota plugin and assign unlimit quota to user. Our configuration is similar to the example from wiki (

Dovecot 1.2.+
The Dovecot version is 1.2.8 and i am using an LDAP for a user database. The problem is following... i would like to use a quota dictionary backend from file rather than sql proxy for some reasons. Is it possible to get the full path for dovecot-quota file location from LDAP like from mail variable (/mailboxes/storage_01/domain.org/u/us/use/user/dbox/dovecot-quota)? /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf

missing .dovecot.lda-dupes file in LDAP/virtual user environment
Hi, I'm running a postfix/dovecot/ldap setup and it works quite fine. I am now trying to setup a global sieve script to forward all incoming mails to a local user for vacation management (gnarwl). I can't user the vacation extension of the sieve script itself because it is not configurable enough (each user has his vacation message and status stored in LDAP). The problem is that when

I configured correctly the quota_rule value, know I'm trying to override this values: quota_warning = storage=95%% /usr/local/bin/quota-warning.sh 95 quota_warning2 = storage=80%% /usr/local/bin/quota-warning.sh 80 quota_warning3 = storage=70%% /usr/local/bin/quota-warning.sh 70 reading

Problems with Mailstorage path.
Hi all, my environment: dovecot-1.0.rc15 Fedora Directory Server 1.0.2 Currently I've configured dovecote to find user's mail folder like this: dovecot.conf mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%u/Maildir All my domain mailboxes are under /var/vmail, as evident. But there are some users whose mail folders are directly under /var/vmail like this one: /var/vmail/myuser1 at mydomain1.com

ldapsam:trusted = yes : trouble getting it to work
I have been trying for a while now to enable set the parameter ?ldapsam:trusted? to ?yes? in smb.conf but as soon as I enable it, users cannot access shares anymore. I am trying to enable this because the users are member of a lot of groups and I want to take the stress off the ldap server. I have searched the lists for previous posts with the same problem and I tried to figure out if it has been

Problem using LDAP generating Userhome
Hi there, I'm trying to let dovecot generate the userhome directory dynamicly via user_attr. If "uid" is returned from LDAP before "mail" everything is fine, but if "mail" is delivered before "uid" the localpart of the mailaddress is used in home path. e.g.: Mail: testuser at domain.de UID : test123 sometimes home is /mail/store/testuser and

Problems with IMAP/POP and dovecot director on backend (director_proxy_maybe)
Hello dovecot community, first of all: dovecot ist great! ;) ...nevertheless I?ve got some problems to get my director scenario running as needed/expected :( My scenario: I?d like to configure two dovecot backends, without the need for multiple dovecot instances. Both backend servers are active/active and act on top of a glusterfs storage, which implies the need for dovecot director. As

Linking mdbox directories
Hi Timo/list, We have a scenario in which some email accounts on dovecot (stored in mdbox, separate paths for indexes, email, ALT storage and also using SIS for attachments, LDAP directory) need their names changed. I know we could just change the mail LDAP attribute (and leave mailMessageStore alone) so they keep the same directories on disk, but this would throw a spanner in the works for
