GlusterFs - Any new progress reports?
GlusterFs always strikes me as being "the solution" (one day...). It's had a lot of growing pains, but there have been a few on the list had success using it already. Given some time has gone by since I last asked - has anyone got any more recent experience with it and how has it worked out with particular emphasis on Dovecot maildir storage? How has version 3 worked out for

Clustering dovecot?
Currently I have a mail server running postfix and dovecot with users in mysql. I have Outlook (blich) clients checking IMAP mail on the server. I'd like to build some fault-tolerance into that system in case I have hardware failure. I've read through: http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailLocation/SharedDisk but I feel I need more information. My basic understanding is that I'll need 2

Dovecot + DRBD/GFS mailstore
Hi guys, I'm looking at the possibility of running a pair of servers with Dovecot LDA/imap/pop3 using internal drives with DRBD and GFS (or other clustered FS) for the mail storage and ext3 for the root drive. I'm currently using maildrop for delivery and Dovecot imap/pop3 with the stores over NFS. I'm looking for better performance but still keeping the HA element I have now with

Dovecot and SATA Backend
Hi all, I plan to run a dovecot IMAPS and POPS service on our network. We handle about 3 000 mailboxes. I thought first buying a topnotch server (8 cores and 16 Go RAM) with equalogic iSCSI SAN SAS 15K for storage backend. On second though (and after a comprhensive read of dovecot features), I saw in http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailLocation that index files can be created on a separete local

I'm seeing this message in my /var/log/maillog: May 26 12:35:00 agencymail dovecot: IMAP(info at example.com): Inotify instance limit for user exceeded, disabling. Increase /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances I rummaged through google, and found : http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-cvs/2008-May/011132.html which says I need to increase /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances (no

trash plugin and LDA
I just switched from the default postfix LDA to the dovecot LDA, deliver, and am looking into what new features I have. The wiki references the trash plugin with imap. Can I also enable trash with the lda? Rick Rick Steeves http://www.sinister.net "The journey is the destination"

delivering to folder based on recipient_delimiter?
I'm currently running postfix + dovecot, with virtual users In postfix I have set recipient_delimiter = + so that postfix accepts mail for user at example.com, user+foo at example.com, and user+spam at example.com all deliver to inbox. what I would like is to have email directed to user+foo at example.com delivered to the IMAP folder foo (and, in the context of amavisd, have amavis

Preventing IMAP folder deletion?
Hi! I'm running postfix with dovecot using mysql for user accounts, with Outlook being used as the IMAP mail client. I'm using a mail delimiter ("+") and mail automatically goes to a Spam folder as part of spam filtering with amavisd and spam assassin. It's configured so that folders won't automatically create; if the folder isn't there mail delivers to the

Dovecot ACLs
Running Dovecot 1.1.8 using Virtual users, multiple domains. My file structure is /var/spool/mail/<domain>/<user>/Maildir/ (cur, new, tmp,.Spam) What I'd like to do is add an ACL such that all users can read/delete/move mail that's in the spam folder, but not delete it. Am I going to have to create an entry for every single user, or is there a way to do it once, for all

Case sensitive oddity when mail delivered.
Currently running Postfix/Dovecot1.1.8 with mysql storing the user data and delivering to folders as determined by dovecot using dovecot's "deliver" as defined in postfix's master.cf Mail location is determined by mail_location = maildir:/var/spool/mail/%d/%n/Maildir If I have an account user1 at example.com it works just fine. However, when mail is sent to USER1 at

RC10 errors
I just installed a limited test of RC10 last night. So far, all is great except for errors being logged for one user (out of about 150 users total). This one user has not yet complained or anything, but the log file has repeated entries of the following format for him (host and username changed to protect the guilty/innocent): Oct 24 06:13:02 mail dovecot: IMAP(username): file

Quota not reporting with getquotaroot
I'm running squirrelmail on top of dovecot, and noticed that some of my users display the quota (using the squirrelmail plugin check_quota) and some don't. So I did some digging. For those that do not display the quota, their account also doesn't provide any data with: . getquotaroot inbox * QUOTAROOT "inbox" . OK Getquotaroot completed. When I check the account
