Help please: Migrating Courier imap - Dovecot (Postfix virtual mailbox domains)
I'm trying to migrate from qmail to postfix.
The original server is combo of qmail and Courier imap (no pop mailboxes)
I have a working Postfix config and had imap working with Courier imap on
the new server. I thought I would experiment with Dovecot as it has some
good press.
I have moved the contents of my original maildir's to the new server and

UIDL conversion courier -> dovecot
I've got a weird split setup where POP3 is currently handled by Courier
(courier-imap-3.0.2 distribution), and IMAP is currently handled by the
RHEL 5 version of Dovecot (1.0.7)
I'm trying to figure out a way to convert the POP3 UIDLs (in cases where
the courierpop3dsizelist is newer than dovecot-uidlist, at least) to
something that Dovecot will read, or to configure Dovecot's pop3 to

sorting order changed during migration from courier
Hello,
I've been working to migrate to dovecot (debian stable: 1:1.2.15-7) from
courier (debian old-stable: 4.4.0-2). I've setup everything and migrated
a test user over to the new system, and ran the
courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script.
The user is using alpine (the free version of pine) and their sort order
changed on move to dovecot. Originally it was the default in alpine,
which is to

Samba 2.2.5 and openldap 2.1.2
Hi,
I'm having problems with the current samba releases (2.2.4 + 2.2.5)
and the current openldap (openldap-2.1.2-1) redhat rawhide RPMS. I
suppose samba is having problems with LDAP v3, because when I try for
example:
[root@fatboy /tmp]# /usr/local/samba/bin/pdbedit -l
Bind failed: Protocol error
in syslog appears:

Problem with LDAP query
Hi people,
first message to this list.
I've a problem with dovecot 1.0.15 (debian latest package) and an LDAP query. The situation is the following. My LDAP users have multiple mail addresses (field 'mail') and mail should be able to be sent to any of these and the mail should always end on the user's mailbox. This is not working for me now.

EXPUNGE delay
Hi people!
I just switched one of my servers from Courier to Dovecot. Planned to do it
anyway but had to do it faster after the discovery that courier [the version
I had installed, at least] returns malformed headers for a few messages,
causing Outlook Express to completely ignore them. Curiously, they were
visible in Squirrelmail and Nokia Series60 e-mail client.
Overal I am quite happy but

Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi David and all,
I?ve read the mail you posted in the Dovecot list.
We?re are having this same problem in a site which is very similar to yours.
We also migrated from Courier to Dovecot nearly 9 months ago, and every now and then users complain about slowness in
the imap connection. We fix it by removing the index files in the user's maildir.
We use Horde as webmail, but the problem

Can't receive emails
Hello everyone,
I installed postfix and dovecot (imap + pop) on a debian server.
I can send emails via postfix and I could receive emails via dovecot
before. Yesterday my server got shutdown and restarted and since then, I
somehow have some problems.
If I send some emails, I don't receive them in /var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir
But the login works fine (pop and imap).
How can I figure out, why

Testing POP3 with telnet - password always wrong
Hello,
I just installed the postfix and dovecot packages according to the document,
http://www.debianadmin.com/debian-mail-server-setup-with-postfix-dovecot-sasl-squirrel-mail.html
And it has been quite helpful. It looks like Dovecot works because I can communicate with it on port 110.
I can't help but feel I am doing something stupid though... The web page listed above told me to test

Problem with quota-dict
Hi,
I wanted to migrate a mailserver from cyrus to dovecot. The new setup was
using postfixadmin let the domain admins configure the hostet domains.
To view the used quota in postfixadmin the usage of the quota dict backend is
required. I have configured it according to the wiki but everytime I connect I
get a sucessfully login and then every next command hangs. It seems to me,
that the dict

namespace problem
Hi all,
after an update from dovecot beta version to 1.0.0.-1 today morning I
had different effects:
thunderbird-, kmail-, Apple-clients, pine and squirrelmail could
receive email correct with imaps. But not MSOutlook!!!
Varying the namespace configurations in dovecot.conf I got different
results with MSOutlook working but with thunderbird, squirrelmail etc.
all folders are displayed but not

I'm testing the virtual mail boxes using telnet. The telnet seesion
completes 100% okay with no errors at all.
Though, when postfix has to relay the message to dovecot, i get the

Debugging sieve-options
Hello all!
I am using a dovecot-server since several weeks - and am really
impressed about this server (after using courier and cyrus).
I tried to install the sieve-plugin now (CentOS RPM) and configured
sieve like described in your WIKI (and on several other pages).
Unfortunately I can not connect to port 2000 (sieve-administration?!)
nor are there any messages regarding sieve in the logs.

imap-login processes
First, thanks for this great product. We migrated from Courier last week
with only small bumps along the way. We have a few hundred active users
with a mix of pop3 and imap clients. The server is running on sparc
Solaris 9.
We're seeing a problem now with the number of "imap-login" processes
rising slowly to it's limit and then (understandably) not letting any more
logins
