Missing 'mailbox' variable ?
Hi, I'm using Dovecot with LDAP. My users have an home directory and a field named 'mailMessageStore'. Then the full mailbox path is 'homeDirectory/mailMessageStore' In dovecot-ldap.conf i configured as follows : user_filter = (&(objectClass=qmailUser)(cn=%u)) user_attrs = qmailUID=uid,qmailGID=gid,homeDirectory=home,mailMessageStore=mail=maildir:~/%$ Everything is

How to create home directories for virtual users?
Hello, I,m using Dovecot 1.2.9, now finishing a migration from Courier IMAP. Documentation (http://wiki.dovecot.org/VirtualUsers/Home) says that home directory should not be the same as mail directory. When I create new user accounts with PostfixAdmin the mail directory is not a problem but is there some smart way to create the home directory as well (locating it for instance in

iterate_query with static userdb ?
Hi, Going by the "static userdb" example? on this page (https://wiki.dovecot.org/VirtualUsers#homedirs), tried to achieve a similar setup in conjunction with pgsql for passdb. However I get an error "auth: Warning: sql: Ignoring changed iterate_query in /etc/dovecot/local_sql_users.conf, because userdb sql not used. (If this is intentional, set userdb_warning_disable=yes)"

Default for non-present LDAP attributes?
With 1.2, is there a syntax to, for LDAP lookups, use a given fixed replacement for a non-present LDAP attribute? E.g. something that would extend user_attrs = mailFileServer=mail=maildir:/import/mail/%$/%d to use maildir:/import/mail/foo/%d in case the mailFileServer attribute is not present?

sieve filter not working

According to the output of command # doveadm log find every type of message goes to the file I was looking at, "/var/spool/maillog". >> So, is it postfix doing the local mail delivery, not dovecot? >> > To answer this question please post relevant

Per User Quotas with LDAP on Dovecot 1.x
Alle, We're running Dovecot V1.0.7 on RHEL5.5, using maildir. We would like to user per user quotas with an OpenLDAP (V2.3.43) backend. We have setup a default quota in /etc/dovecot.conf: quota = maildir:storage=10240:ignore=Trash And have the following userdb configs in /etc/doveconf.conf: userdb ldap { args = /etc/dovecot-ldap.conf } and the following user_attrs defined in

dovecot-2.0-beta4, lda and sieve: Permission lookup failed from /tmp/Dovecot Delivery
Hi all, I'm testing a dovecot-2.0-beta4 and it is great so far, except that I can't get the sieve plugin for the LDA configured. It doesn't find the user's homedir and uses /tmp instead. Thus it never finds any sieve scripts. The log shows that the SQL queries return the correct home path, namely /mnt/data/vmail/example.com/me dovecot: auth: prefetch(me at example.com): passdb

Sieve/ManageSieve integration into pkgsrc
I'm integrating Sieve (the new one) and ManageSieve into wip/dovecot. Currently, this works as dovecot options because dovecot must be built before sieve can be configured and sieve must be built before managesieve can be configured/built. Now, the question arose what the long-term solution (in pkgsrc) should be. To my understanding, with dovecot 2.0, ManageSieve will no longer need to patch

sieve filter not working
Hi, OK. I tried your suggestion. I modified the dovecot config file "10-logging.conf", like so: log_path = syslog and mail_debug = yes It appears that the logging goes to "/var/log/maillog", not "messages" as I expected. Restarting service dovecot produces info in the "maillog" file showing the restart: ... Jan 22 15:20:14 coe dovecot: imap: Server

Error: userdb lookup
Hi list, I am trying to get rid of the "Error: file_dotlock_create(~/.dovecot.lda-dupes) failed: No such file or directory" by adding home directories to my virtual users (ldap). I want this home dir' to be specified like this: /var/vmail/$USER/home/ and the sieve scripts to go to: /var/vmail/$USER/home/sieve/ So as suggested before in this list, I have replaced: user_attrs =

Homedir vs locations vs mail_location?
Hello, I use Dovecot for rather long time, but I'm still in doubt for some small things. Here they are: 1. The homedir value points to the place where everything for the user stored at, while mail_location is something (some place) where mail stored at. if I deal with pure virtual users (all users are in sql tables and no system homes for them at all), should I ever care for returning

I just checked with Thunderbird, SquirrelMail, and Roundcube.? The sieve directory is not in the overview. dovecot is highly configurable.? Help with logging in and getting mail
Hi, Very new to dovecot and to using POP3/IMAP (from this perspective anyway). First things first, per the instructions from the web site: dovecot version: 1.0.5 dovecot config: # 1.0.5: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf protocols: imap pop3 ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable(default): /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login

sieve folders in maildir with imap: not a directory not fixed with maildir_stat_dirs = yes
As my logs fill up with "imap(user at domain.com): Error: stat(/mail/doman.com/user//.dovecot.sieve/tmp) failed: Not a directory" errors, I followed the advice at https://wiki2.dovecot.org/VirtualUsers/Home and https://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2016-June/104403.html and set in /usr/local/etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf # By default LIST command returns all entries in maildir beginning

sieve for systemusers
Hello! I enabled LDA for systemusers bei adding mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda -f "$SENDER" -a "$RECIPIENT" to main.cf of postfix. I have done this because I want to use sieve for systemusers too, not only for virtual users. But the sievescripts do not work for those systemusers. What else needs to be done to get sieve to work for systemusers? Kind regards

pkgsrc-ing sieve and managesieve
I'm trying to integrate both the new sieve implementation and managesieve into pkgsrc. Managesieve seems to need some dovecot libraries that dovecot doesn't install (lib-storage/libstorage.a, lib-auth/libauth.a, lib-imap/libimap.a, lib-index/libindex.a, lib-mail/libmail.a, lib-charset/libcharset.a, lib-dict/libdict.a and lib-charset/libcharset.a). There seems to be no provision in pkgsrc
