Recipient delimiter and lmtp proxying
Hi, I'm attempting to proxy lmtp using director to hash to the same backend as pop3/imap. My pop3/imap users are of the form: username and my lmtp users are of the form: <username at domain> Where domain is fairly redundant but does carry some useful information. Now, I can proxy lmtp using user=%{username} and destuser=%{orig_user}, and this all appears to work correctly.

Error: userdb lookup: connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: Permission denied
I am making my first attempt to get dovecot working with Postfix virtual users/domains. The following is the error log and the output of "dovecot -n". I am probably doing something really stupid; however, I do not know what. Oct 03 17:50:41 pop3-login: Info: Login: user=<user at mydomain.com>, method=PLAIN, rip=192.168.1.103, lip=192.168.1.103, TLS Oct 03 17:50:41 POP3(user at

Sieve extension for testing for mailbox
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! Which Pigeonhole Sieve extension should I use to process/test a message depending on whether the message is in a particular mailbox? (Is it the mboxmetadata extension by any chance? If so, I would appreciate if someone could tell me what the reason is for it not being enabled by default.) The reason I want to perform this test is that I have

Configuring for virtual users in Postfix
FreeBSD-7.2 with Postfix-2.7x OK, this is my first attempt to configure Dovecot using Postfix and virtual users. In the LDA.Postfix.txt file, there is a reference to making the following setting: dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1 virtual_mailbox_domains = your.domain.here virtual_transport = dovecot However, Postfix does not recognize the dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1 setting.

dovecot.log file permissions and ownership
Using FreeBSD-7.2 and Dovecot v1.2.4 what user does dovecot use to write to its log file? I have the logfile located in the /var/log directory. I have Postfix configured to use 'virtual' users and use dovecot for delivery. While dove can write to the file when accessed for POP services, when accessed via Postfix, I get this error message: Oct 25 07:02:15 scorpio postfix/pipe[56956]:

Selective and efficient logging of auth/connection information
Hello everyone, this is my first mail to the list, please forgive me if some of my questions have been asked before. I'm currently thinking about a way to implement an efficient logging method for authentication results together with client connection info on my linux boxes. My aim is to circumvent expensive and delayed mechanisms like tail()ing syslog to get to the required info and be able

Disabling plus sign extension delimiter in lmtp listener (or userdb)
Hello We have migrated our email services from a server, which did not support IMAP and folders, therefore threated the plus sign + as a normal character in a part of an email address. Our new server delivers the emails via lmtp to dovecot. the few users which got a + character in the username first could not log-in (fixed by adding + to auth_username_chars). Now the next problem turn out to

MailDIR and expire plugin
All of the mailboxes on this system are in MailDIR format. None of the users delete mail off of the server after POPing their accounts. This is the present setting: expire = Trash 7 Spam 30 expire_dict = proxy::expire Is that correct for MailDIR style mailboxes? It doesn't appear correct; however, I have not been able to find any specific documentation on expire with MailDIR style

R 3.4 has broken C++11 support
Hi, This commit (I?m using the mirror to have a working link) broke C++11 compilation. Before (and still now, according to the comments in the configure script), it?s sufficient to just have ?SystemRequirements: C++11? in the DESCRIPTION file. But now ?R CMD install? fails with ?C++11 standard requested but CXX11 is not defined?, which is, according to the documentation , a lie. I can?t

syslinux / antique computers
Hi, is there an easy way to circumvent the SYSLINUX novice protection thing? intended users don't know about CTRL key to circumvent it. I'm trying to make a generic bootdisk for systems of 8086 - Pentium4. however the bootdisk is slow, so I'd like to use Syslinux + Memdisk to load a diskette image. then the text displayed to user will be: 1) FreeDOS bootdisk (accelerated, 386

application 'allway sync' evades sticky bit?!
Hi, am running: Redhat EL4.4 i386, Samba 3.0.23d from Sernet, ext3 fs Samba as PDC Someone's got the idea to have one big share with access managed by directory's sticky bit. This works perfectly well when normal XP or W2k clients work with their explorer. But: With 'allway sync', an app to synchronize for example between laptop and fileserver the program is somehow able to

Syslinux and USB support
Hi, I'm writing as I'm an happy user of syslinux/isolinux(pxelinux, as it has kade booting from floppy/hd/cd simple and reliable... (I've looked the tons of workaround developers had to develop to circumvent bugs BIOS bug in isolinux....) I think that next frontier for syslinux should be USB booting: it already works, but here also there are a lot of BIOS problem that a bootloader

master user
Greetings all... We are thinking about using the master DB, so a few admins can impersonate an ordinary user. So, we want to define one master for a set of users. And this administrator cannot be master of the other users? Can this be done somehow? Reading the docs, it seems that if a user is defined as master, it can login as everyone. Thanks for any hint.

Samba PDC and big files
Hello, I'm trying to setup a PDC with Samba, but I have the known problem of the roaming profiles: big files. I think it's difficult to guarantee that a inexperienced user will copy is downloaded files, documents, or whatever, to a H:\ share instead of is handy desktop. Other problem is the files of Outlook or Thunderbird that can get big. The goal is to avoid email configuration each

(no subject)
Hi, I use a OpenLDAP for authentication. To authenticate a full DN as the user name must be used, like "cn=jim,ou=users,dc=example,dc=com". There are several domains, like example2.com and example3.com. I want to use Dovecot with ldap and authentication binds. For testing I use "auth_bind_userdn = cn=%n,ou=users,dc=%d" and the user name must provide as "jim at
