PSARC 2009/571: ZFS deduplication properties
I haven''t seen any mention of it in this forum yet, so FWIW you might be interested in the details of ZFS deduplication mentioned in this recently-filed case. Case log: http://arc.opensolaris.org/caselog/PSARC/2009/571/ Discussion: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=115507 Very nice -- I like the interaction with "copies", and (like a few others) I think

sftp Vs scp
Damien, Reading the various articles about https://sintonen.fi/advisories/scp-client-multiple-vulnerabilities.txt have caused me to question the wisdom of using scp. acts_as_taggable confused
Ahoy, So i''ve installed the acts_as_taggable module and everything is fine, but i''m a bit confused about this bit of code described in the API "photo = Photo.new # splits and adds to the tags collection photo.tag "wine beer alcohol" # don''t need to split since it''s an array, but replaces the tags collection # trailing and leading

converting character strings to numbers
I have a comma delimited text file in which many columns of numbers are also quoted and have commas as well as decimals. I was surprised to find read.csv() didn't import this seamlessly, even after messing around with the colClasses argument. I did find a solution to convert the character strings after reading them in, but wonder if there isn't a better one I overlooked. test =

Creating a list of all objects
Dear all I am trying to create a list of all objects created over the course of a function. To wit: foo <- function(x){ first <- x*(1:8) second <- matrix(x*(1:16), ncol = 4) third <- 1:x list(x=x, first=first, second=second, third=third) } foo(5) No worries there. However, in the search for typing efficiency I wondered if it would be possible to use list(ls()) in

Question about rsync
Hello All, I've been getting an error using rsync that I've been trying to track down the cause of, but haven't been able to solve yet. When I try to connect to a remote rsync deamon, using a double colon address like 192.168.0.2::classes to copy files in either direction, I get this error after a timeout. @ERROR: chroot failed rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (128 bytes

Where is the stud.ci() function used in boot.ci()?
Hello! I am trying to duplicate the studentized bootstrap confidence interval calculations in boot.ci() without using boot.ci(). My w/o boot.ci() calculations are close to boot.ci() using the same object from implementation of boot(), but not quite the same (I think the differences are due to how quantiles are computed for z*). Through examining the boot.ci() code, I can see there is a call

SIP Presence across two servers
Hi All, We've been running Asterisk for years in our offices but just recently replaced an Asterisk Appliance* in our smaller office with an actual server, upgraded the server in hardware in our HQ location and upgrading both ends to 11.5.0 with Gareth's patch for Cisco phones. 99.99% of our endpoints are Cisco 7961Gs. Each office is more-or-less standalone for ease of management and

Dialing a SIP URI with an ";ext=" parameter
Hi All, In the midst of trying to pilot a deployment of Microsoft Lync (mainly for non-voice collaboration, specifically IM) and integrate it with our Asterisk (11.6.0 if it matters) deployment and a "everything in one place" tool when people are out of the office. I have everything on the voice side playing nice from the Lync side (Lync->Lync, Lync->Asterisk,

Dropped Calls / Maximum Retries Exceeded / No Reply to Our Critical Packet
Hi All, I've looked through the archives and tried several variations in Google, and I haven't found anything on-point... So I'm hoping someone here may be able to help this relative Asterisk neophyte shed some light on an issue: I have a box running Asterisk 1.4.22 in our lab with several Cisco 7961G phones and an AEX804E card (4 FXO, hardware echo cancellation). The server and all

Samba not honouring write/admin lists on shares
I'm running debian testing, so samba 3.05 atm. As of a few upgrades ago, which i think coincided with a library restructure or somewhat samba is no longer honouring read/write/admin lists on share definitions. Using the below share as an example, previously all users could access the share with read access, and those in the ntadmins group had write access. Since the upgrade users can only
