clarify 'type', 'executable' & 'path' in 2.0 master.conf?
@2.0's master.conf, there's, e.g.,
service config {
type= config
executable =config
unix_listener {
path = config
mode = 0666
}
}
can someone please explain function/usage for the 'type', 'executable'
& 'path' fields?
and, for any file paths, are the presumed to be _relative_ to the
dovecot executable? in $PATH? can they accept full/absolute

Dear Sirs,
I try to configure expire plugin to delete emails older than 7 days from the Papelera

OCFSv2 in a mail cluster environment
Hello,
First, thanks to all the people who helped to license this software under
the GPL. This is a very important piece of work for the Free Software in the
Enterprise Market.
Just a few newbie questions. We've been thinking about implmenting a mail
cluster with a Fiber SAN (IBM DS-4000) and OCFSv2 as the storage
backend. The information on this volume will essentially be Postfix

IMAP goes down from time to time
Good Afternoon
I?m really new at this and i don?t know if i?m posting at the right place.
My problem is that our Dovecot IMAP is stopping from time to time with
no info in the log, i just realize about this when our support person
call me saying that the whatsup monitor is showing the IMAP4 process
down. I can figure about this too by trying to get in our webmail Horde
and i cannot login.

Postfix LDA vs the Dovecot LDA + other quetions
Guys ,
1. What is the benefit of using Dovecot' LDA as compared to postfix's LDA? Will there be better performance?
And along the same vein,
2. What is the benefit of using Dovecot's SASL as compared to Cyrus SASL? Is there better performance?
3. Quota Management ( Creating, enforcing, notifying ) - is it done thru dovecot or postfix or are both needed?

About addition of hardware and kernel
Dear Sirs
I have a ML370 G4 server with 1 CPU Intel (R) Xeon (TM) 3.60GHz and 2GB of RAM with operating system CentOS 4.7 and kernel 2.6.9-78.0.22.ELsmp
We have acquired 1 CPU and 2 GB of RAM additional to improve the functioning of the server, my question is whether the current kernel can support the addition of hardware or if I need a new kernel or install any additional software.
Thanks

Problem no update maildirsize
Dears Sirs,
I've noticed that since the Courier to Dovecot migration have had few problems with the %usage of email accounts as they do not reflect the real use, to fix this I have to manually delete the file maildirsize and run the command vuserinfo user at domain.com, depending on your experience may be the cause of this problem?
thanks

Problem migration from Courier-Imap to Dovecot
Dear friends,
My intention is to migrate from Courier-Imap
Dovecot 4.4.1 to 1.1.16, the problem is that I've noticed that when
creating folders using the Courier does not create the file
courierimapsubscribed therefore I doubt if this will bring me problems
trying to perform the migration script by courier-dovecot-migrate.pl

"DATA3.CAB" asked for but not on disk
I'm trying to install the programming software for my ham radio, the Icom RS-91. There's an entry for version 1.0 that says platinum, but mine is either 1.1 or 1.10 (hard to tell from how they wrote it).
Anyway, I'm getting the problem during install that it wants "DATA3.CAB", but no such animal exists on the disk; furthermore, all the disk's readable files say it

gethostby*.getanswer: asked for $FOO, got $BAR
Martin, I see you were already bitten by this with postfix last year.
Should we try to come up with a generic rule that matches any
application, since this comes from the bowels of libc6?

Do not echo chars when asked for (yes/no)
Hi,
In the last decade using openssh I remember only one thing that I hope it
could be changed: Logging in to a host which is not yet known in my
.ssh/known_hosts it asks me something like
The authenticity of host 'xhost (192.168.100.1)' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is c2:6b:6c:55:8a:1b:6b:13:8c:f1:b3:ef:65:67:a3:a7.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
