Problem with flags
Greetings! I'm having a problem with flags not working correctly. I'm
using Mozilla Thunderbird as my mail client, and Dovecot 0.99.10.4 as
part of Debian on a Sparc box.
The thing that doesn't seem to be working right is Thunderbird's Label
feature, which uses custom IMAP flags. I noticed that once I labeled a
message, I couldn't un-label it. I recorded this exchange

Locking strategy?
Hello!
I run the following environment:
UW imapd
pine
sendmail
procmail
mbox format
I migrated from UW imapd to dovecot. It is pretty faster than UW imapd.
To ensure a compatible environment I did the following configuration
changes in /etc/dovecot.conf:
protocols = imaps
default_mail_env = mbox:~:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
mail_full_filesystem_access = yes
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks

Doubtful, and if so I don't know any.

Hi all,
my Dovecot 1.1.20 does not store flags (I mean, Thunderbird Labels
like ToDo, Important and so on..)
When logging in via telnet, I get:

Junk $Forwarded NotJunk receipt-handled $Label7 $label1 $label2
$label3 $label4 $label5 expired_2w expired_2m delete rimandata

FreeBSD pam auth problems
I'm impressed by dovecto and try to upgrade my home system from
wu-imapd running there for last 5 years to dovecot.
It's straghtforward FreeBSD setup with ssl-only auth,
inboxes in /var/mail and user mail under %h/Mail
But I get some strange error:
Fatal: userdb didn't return a home directory, but mail location used
it (%h): %h/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
Thank you in advance!

Providers running dovecot?
Dear list,
I am looking for providers of free e-mail addresses known to run
Dovecot (or a variant thereof) for IMAP access. I need only a few MB
storage space and no particular features beyond SMTP and IMAP.
The reason I ask is that Dovecot is known to implement the IMAP spec
quite respectfully, and I am writing a software which uses IMAP search
(so I would suggest my users to register an e-mail

remove non-standard flags
Having relocated my virtual folders to a new namespace - I'm having some
subscription challenges.? I'm able to reach them via telnet without
issue - and some clients have better luck than others.? Some folders
have no problems at all - some seem different.
In trying to identify what might be the issue - at the moment the only

Migrating from UW IMAP - pine - Thunderbird - squirrelmail
Hello!
In this email you can find a configuration primer for a Migration from UW
IMAP with pine, Thunderbird and squirrelmail as client. For compatibility
the mbox format is used.
A description for pine with imap acces without entering any password is
also discussed. Please use dovecot 1.0beta1 or later for correct handling
with pine.

Custom flags in v1.0.15
Hello all,
I'm having problems with setting custom flags on a dovecot imap setup,
with mbox mail store. I was running v1.0rc15 on a Debian Etch box,
upgraded recently to v1.0.15, but nothing changed.
The problem :
I read my mail using IMAP. In Thunderbird (various versions, current one
being v2.0.0.19), I can set various message flags (Important, Personal,

got too little data ??
I just switched in a hurry one of our mailbox servers from UW-imapd to
Dovecot in an attempt to address performance and stability problems.
This server hosts ~5500 accounts, ~2000 are daily used, ~600
simultaneous IMAP connexions in rush hours, and lots of POP ones. Some
accounts may be accessed simultaneously with IMAP and POP.
The system is :
- Debian Sarge (x86 with amd64 kernel)
- MBOX files

expected with or without the fileinto action (so also with only setflag).
I changed your script a little to detect "INBOX/Archive" rather than
just "Archive" to match

Assertion failure with IMAP NOTIFY
Hi,
For a few weeks I've been running a custom notification script[1] that
uses IMAP NOTIFY. The script uses a single connection, sets up a NOTIFY
watch on a couple of mailboxes + automatic FETCH for the selected
mailbox. If a status update arrives for a different mailbox, it selects
that box and fetches the mail.
Today I got the following error in the log:
