UNIX perms appear ok (ACL/MAC wrong?)
Hi,
I am struggling with Postfix/SASL/Dovecot-IMAP setup with ~/Maildir/ setup.
Receiving the mail works fine, but viewing the mail(+listing) is failing.
The setup I use is simple unix users from etc/passwd, (pam thru SASL) as I
only host for a few people.
The ~/Maildir folder has the ownership of the user, not mail or vmail, as I
would have expected from the master.cf from Postfix,

Trash plugin
Hello! This is my first dovecot install, which I put together by mixing
and matching pieces of various online howtos (fortunately, Dovecot doesn't
seem to be overly complex - a big plus). I've got it mostly working, but
the trash plugin doesn't seem to be working right. Below are configs and
some logs.
Any thoughts? Also, any suggestions regarding my configuration? I can

Dovecot extremely slow!
Please help,
Dovecot is running extremely slow for the last couple of weeks and it
seems to be getting worse (or my patience running short).
I attach the 10-master configuration and the log file after running
strace according to: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Debugging/ProcessTracing
I can click on an email and wait for a minute or more before receiving a
connection dropped or no error at all. I

Mbox corruption - Inbox beginning with 'FFrom' or 'FrFrom'
Hello,
we're having some problems with our dovecot setup.
I've seen similar problems in the mailing list some years ago but alas
wasn't able to find a solution.
Our setup is as follows :
An MX farm (postfix) sends mails via LMTP to a director farm (dovecot
2.1.12) which proxies pop3/imap/lmtp traffic to a dovecot farm (dovecot
2.1.16).
All mailboxes and indexes are on NFS and all

Problems with dsync and global acls
Hi all!
I have 2 servers running dsync tcp replication between them. After
setting global ACLs to

over quota issue
I have a situation where if a user is over quota and sending through postfix
I get an error, now this error only happens if the user is over quota,
otherwise it works with no problem. However if sending using
/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda it works every time even if
overquota, any ideas? I just can't seem to figure this one out.
TIA, Paul

dovecot 2.0.8 LDA with MYSQL issues
Hi, after deciding to use Dovecot 2.0.8 as a postfix LDA using mysql DB I'm
running into some issues. I started to follow,
http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotLDAPostfixAdminMySQL but noticed that
the auth settings on the config changed, after looking through the dovecot
wiki I think I have that issue fixed. However I still can't get the SQL part
to work right, below is what I have on the

dovecot-proxy with managesieve, director and backend dovecot imap
hi all,
I've been tasked to add sieve/managesieve to an existing dovecot cluster
running 2.1.7 on debian wheezy which is made up of 2 dovecot-proxy hosts
as directors and some back end dovecot imap hosts all running the same
version.
My problem is that I thought to put the service on the director/proxy
hosts since they wouldn't have too much load on it, but when I do I get

connection to director (lmtp) time out
Hi all,
I'm running two directors with lmtp proxy as relay transport for my
mail exchangers.
relay_transport = lmtp:inet:dovecot-directors.example.net
dovecot-directors.example.net resolves to 172.17.1.3 and 172.17.1.4
Now, .3 is down and Postfix tries to deliver it to .4 but this
connection gets a timeout:

hoping someone has a suggestion
Hi using dovecot 1.0.10 with pop/imap, using maildir, with 2000+ users
mostly using pop but many using imap.
Once in a great while I have problems with dovecot pop timing out. If I
telnet to port 110 it just takes forever to come up or it doesn't at all,
the samething happens on the imap port although 110 is always worst.
At 1st when troubleshooting I was not sure what was causing the

couldn''t get available bandwith
Hello all.
We have three tunnels over the internet between our "central" gateway and
some branch office gateway.
Each gateway has eth0 on its LAN an eth1 on the internet. We use DSL lines
and eth1''s have the internet IP directly attached on it. Each gateway, also,
acts as iptables NAT gateway.
The outgoing bandwith is 300 kbit, and we tried this (i.e.) on each tunnel:

director with multiple instances
I'm experiencing some problems similar to those described in
http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-July/137250.html
except with 2.0.9.
Adding http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-July/084906.html
to the main config didn't seem to help, nor did setting the list of
director and backend servers to just the system itself.
I get a banner connecting to port 143:
