dovecot permission denied problems.
I am trying to setup dovecot on a FC4 machine. Access to the machine is
provided through pam. When I login to the machine my home directory is
mounted over nfs from a central file server. I have dovecot installed
and running but it can't seem to access my home directory. When I try
and access my mail I get the following three lines in /var/log/maillog:

SSH Logging
Hi,
I'd like to be able to log file transfers to/from an SSH server
(both through scp and sftp-server).
Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places, but I don't see a
way of doing this in the current code. The "scponly" shell goes
some (small) way towards doing this, however, it logs patterns
rather than filenames in scp transfers. I have even less success
with sftp.

Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
Hi, thanks for your help. Your suggestion makes sense, however I think there should be some way for users to be able to change an expired password from login dialogue.
Actually I had a problem doing this previously with NT4 style Samba domain and never looked into a resolution.
Now that I've found Samba does AD style domain, I'm excited to use it in several customer locations.
Since I

Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login

Finishing up the contributors list as well
Guys,
OK, now that we have the new core contributors squared away, we
can go back to finishing the contributors list.
There were some people who got added and then there is existing
contributors list. I think Darren''s suggestion to wait to add new
core contributors is fine (let the new constitution settle down
and we can in the meanwhile have a more inclusive look at both

Using Samba AD for NFSV4 Kerberos servers and clients
Hello Kevin,
We have a Samba/Windows20008R2 domain that's been running a few years now.
Here are the details:
* clients auth with SSSD (ldap, kerberos, ldap_schema=rfc2307bis)
* idmap
* samba on clients/server for joining domain
We have scripts that automatically create users with UnixHomeDir, UID
and GUID numbers within AD.
I don't know about using WInbind... I dropped that

re: help with lattice plot
Dear List,
I have been using R to create an xyplot using the panel function within
lattice libraries. This plot is based on the data supplied in R named
'Oats'. The graph represents oat yield by nitro level with an overlay of
each variety of oats for each nitro level.
I have three questions regarding this graph:
1) I cannot seem to specify the type of symbol used by the plot, even

--cuesheet include the full cue sheet or just the seekponints?
Dear list
Sorry to ask a user's question on developer list. I didn't find the user
list.
I am experimenting with --cuesheet and encoded a flac file with a
cuesheet. Result is:
* Totem on opensuse 10.2 opens the flac file with no meta data, no
play list. "Next" button doesn't work;
* Mplayer on opensuse 10.2 opens the flac file with no meta data,

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
With Linux DHCP + Bind it was possible to have the DHCP server
dynamically update Bind as new clients appeared. I don't need the
clients themselves updating DNS records directly. For those few nodes
using static IP addresses and not on the AD domain, I'm fine with having
to manually enter their A/PTR records into the DNS database. IIRC normal
MS Windows AD DC allows for nodes that are

Multiple spelling suggestions
Hello,
I am looking at the Xapian database spelling support, with the idea of
getting rid of the cumbersome use of aspell in my application.
One advantage of aspell, though, (in my eye), is that it can supply a list
of alternate spellings, not just the one it considers best.
In some cases, this can be useful. 2 examples on my test index:
porbability: xapian suggests portability, which is nice,

TE205P
Hello,
I am working on a project and have a few questions. I want to connect
one port of the TE205p to the PSTN, and another port to the PRI port
of a PBX. Basically Asterisk will sit between the PSTN and the
existing PBX. Are there any gotcha's I need to be aware of? Will the
existing PBX be able to dial through asterisk as if it was a PSTN
connection?

Rails noob db questions
Hi, I''m trying to get my head around rails, but the documentation seems
sparse at best (and manuals.rubyonrails.com is unreachable from my location
for whatever reason). I''m trying to figure out a few things:
1) The documentation for the magicfields mentions using datetimes instead of
timestamps, which pgsql doesn''t appear to support. What''s the answer in this

Mapping to BigDecimals instead of Floats
Hi everyone,
I''m new to Rails and Ruby, and have been working my way through the Pickaxe
and Agile Rails books for the last week or so. With a background in payroll
apps I found that the default ActiveRecord mapping of decimal columns to
float variables really bothered me! Financial calcs need high levels of
accuracy and floats just don''t give you that.
I know there are a bunch

trouble getting table of coeffs with quantreg with fixed effects
I'm a new user, so my apologies for what is likely a dumb question...
I am having a hard time getting a table of regression results when using Koenker's code for quantile regression with fixed effects (http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~roger/research/panel/rq.fit.panel.R). I use the example data parameters that Koenker provides (see below).

s <- rep(1:n,rep(m,n))

before-after control-impact analysis with R
Hello everybody,
In am trying to analyse a BACI experiment and I really want to do it
with R (which I find really exciting). So, before moving on I though it
would be a good idea to repeat some known experiments which are quite
similar to my own. I tried to reproduce 2 published examples but without
much success. The first one in particular is a published dataset

Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
Thanks for the help, however I don't think your suggestion applies in my
case. On a fresh install of Samba 4.7.4 AD you cannot change a user
password on a logged in PC through cntl-alt-del -> ChangePassword
because the default MinAge is 1 days. I had to use the "samba-tool
domain passwordsettings set --min-pwd-age=0" command to make the
logged-on style of password change

Using Samba AD for NFSV4 Kerberos servers and clients
Thanks Luc,
First, can I just use the small /etc/krb5.conf suggested in Samba AD
docs or do I need something more substantial on the server & client for
Kerberos NFS to work?
[libdefaults]
default_realm = SUBDOMAIN.DOMAIN.COM
dns_lookup_realm = false
dns_lookup_kdc = true
I understand a /etc/krb5.keytab file has to be created on both server &
client. Most

Possible bug - delete complains about parent directory in new version
I have what I believe to be a bug in the behavior of the current (2.6.4)
version of rsync. While trying to upgrade from version 2.5.2 to the
current version (for security concerns), I noticed the following
difference in behavior between the two versions which is preventing the
upgrade:

Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
I went back and re-installed on a clean VM of Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 and
built Samba 4.7.4 with default configuration and it works just fine to
change expired passwords at login. I should have tested this default
configuration a while back.
I was trying to use MIT Kerberos instead of Hemidal and had followed all
the directions on this link:
