Help with master user
Hi, Trying to implement a master user (1) for auditing purposes without luck. Ubuntu 18.04.3, canonical official repos only, no ppa nor self-compiled anything. From the log below I understand the master password succeeds but AD auth fails. I am pretty sure I missed something here. Also, notice the messages "Ignoring unknown passdb extra field: original_user". Log: Nov? 1 14:02:32

SSL problem - no banner
Hi, I am running dovecot 2.2.22-1ubuntu2.4 on a ubuntu 16.04 server. It has a valid Letsencrypt certificate but the problem also happens with a self-digned one. Only openssl s_client -connect localhost:993 works fine and fast, while all MUA's and telnet does not. Telnet timeouts waiting for banner after a minute or so: root at netuno:~# openssl s_client -connect localhost:993

Is "Resource temporarily unavailable" an old problem?
Hi. I've installed dovecot recently in a Fedora 5 Linux. It seemed to be OK but I begun to get the message "Can't connect to auth server at default: Resource temporarily unavailable". When I get the message, dovecot hangs. The problem is that "temporarily" is not quite true since the only way to get dovecot running again is to restart it. As a matter of fact, I

Client with tinc
Hi! They have in my university a Cisco VPN solution. Unfortunatelly, if you are cuban, irakian, iranian or a couple of other nationalities, you are not able to use it (sic...). I would like to study the possibility to install tinc as client. I've read that "There is no real distinction between a server and a client in tinc". Would tinc work as a client with the Cisco VPN? Asterisk ZRTP?
What's the status of ZRTP supported by Asterisk? There was some discussion on the -dev list and -users list, but it was inconclusive. At about the same timeframe, a bug (#0010024) was opened and updated for several months, but has been "suspended" since late 2007. Does any version (1.4.x, 1.6.x) of Asterisk support ZRTP with clients (or with other servers)? Any successful testing

Status of Samba3 Beta3
OK I am a 2.2.8a/LDAP user and have thus far been very skeptical about making the switch to Samba3. I have seen inconclusive evidence of Beta 3's success rate from the postings since its release. So my question is... Has anybody been able to get Samba3b3 to act as complete replacement for their Windows or Samba2.2.8a PDC? How about with an LDAP backend? Is it stable and bug-free enough

[PATCH] Fix cppcheck warnings
fedora comes with 1.75 so I used that. How to speed up rsync when haveing lots of files
Hello List, unfortunatelly rsync is beeing REALLY slow and produces a high load when we try to sync lots of files (>250 000 small files). My experience is, that this is fatser if i do it folder by folder. Is there a rsync option which reduces the load and speeds up the rsync somehow? Thanks, Mario

printer configuration issue
I've installed Samba 2.2.7a on my SuSE 8.1 system in an effort to persuade it to act as a print server on my LAN, which consists of it and 6 Windows desktops of various flavors. Right away it seemed to allow file sharing and printing from DOS and became browsable from the Network Neighborhood, but I can't get it to print from Windows. I keep getting a Status of "Access denied,

NEAR non-leaf subqueries
Hi, Xapian 1.2 supports a query like: (A OR B) NEAR (C OR D) and distributes the factors to create something like: (A NEAR 2 C) OR (B NEAR 2 C) OR (B NEAR 2 C) OR (A NEAR 2 C) Xapian 1.4 rejects such a query with the error message. OP_NEAR and OP_PHRASE only currently support leaf subqueries Because Recoll expands the terms to their stem siblings at query time, its NEAR queries

Constrained regression
Dear list members, I am trying to get information on how to fit a linear regression with constrained parameters. Specifically, I have 8 predictors , their coeffiecients should all be non-negative and add up to 1. I understand it is a quadratic programming problem but I have no experience in the subject. I searched the archives but the results were inconclusive. Could someone provide suggestions

Insert raster image into an R graphic
Dear useRs: Is there a way to include a raster image (e.g., .gif, .jpg, .bmp) representing a company logo, a school logo, etc. into an R graphic? For example, it would be nice to be able to include the logo of the school into the charts that a student produces for her dissertation. Similarly, while working on a competitive analysis, it would be nice to be able to replace the names of the

squared euclidean distance
Dear R-Help-Team, I would like to cluster my data using the ward-method. In several papers I read (e.g. Bahrenberg) that it is neccesary to use the "squared euclidean distance" with the ward-method. Unfortunatelly I cannot find this term in r as a method for measuring the distance. Does anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance, Carolin [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
