usbhid-ups causing hang on boot with 2.6.35 - any ideas?
(Arjen - I apologize if you get two copies, I sent the first one to the old de-korte.org address) Arjen, all, I've run into a usbhid-ups problem with nut on Arch Linux with the new 2.6.35 kernels. (latest is 2.6.35.4-1) For some reason when you get to the udev events on boot and it tries to load the usbhid-ups driver, it hangs until the 120 sec timeout occurs and then boot continues but

Mixing POP and IMAP
Hi, I run a small site, about a dozen users, and many of the users POP their mail. I have just installed Squirrelmail which uses IMAP. Has anyone had any significant problems with mixing POP and IMAP for mail retreival? 2.4.1 Voltages are Great for CP1000AVRLCD, but usbfs messages in logs (a lot)
Arjen, all, Just dropping a note on two points. First, Voltages are perfect in 2.4.1 for the Cyberpower ups's. Glad to see I'm not pushing 20+ any more: http://www.3111skyline.com/nut/ Second, even though the changes to where the monitor lines go in the configs and changes from ACCEPT, etc.. to LISTEN are fairly old now, the documentation for setting up monitoring for multiple UPSs

My view on 1.0 release and version numbering
Just throwing out some thoughts here. I know Timo has high standards and is trying to make 1.0 bug free before calling it 1.0. But I want to argue for an earlier less perfect 1.0. Dovecot is already way past the quality of most 1.0 releases. So it is good enough by common standards. No one really expects a 1.0 release to be perfect. But - some people don't consider a product ripe until it

RC10 errors
I just installed a limited test of RC10 last night. So far, all is great except for errors being logged for one user (out of about 150 users total). This one user has not yet complained or anything, but the log file has repeated entries of the following format for him (host and username changed to protect the guilty/innocent): Oct 24 06:13:02 mail dovecot: IMAP(username): file

repairing mbox files
Hi folks, Is there a good tool for repairing/working with mbox files? I'm trying to get a user moved off of Entourage (Outlook for Mac). Entourage actually exports the mail (was pop, will be imap) as mbox files, however, I can't just drop them in place even after fixing the line-endings. many of the messages with attachments come up with the correct header info but no message body

Problem with rc10
I just upgraded our test server from rc6 to rc10... ISSUE #1 I noticed that we no longer are getting two "From_" lines. However, the one that was good (had the original sender e-mail address) is now gone. The one with "dovecot.deliver" remains. I attempted to add "-d test" to the mailbox_command line in main.cf as follows: mailbox_command =

Problem with rc10, perhaps 11-15
I don't recall if I mentioned this on the list, but when you are configured with mbox format, and a user has no Dovecot index files yet, and the config is such that mbox_min_index_size is set to non-zero, non-default (128 in my test case), dovecot deliver fails. Commenting out "mbox_min_index_size" fixed the problem, and the indexes then get created. This problems exists in RC10 --

1.0.rc10 status report
(Background: Relatively new to dovecot; looking to do transparent replacement of long-established UW-IMAP on cluster of Linux boxes which NFS-mount a shared "/var/spool/mail".) With rc8, where I had already increased "login_max_processes_count" from default 128 to 1024, we had still hit the issue of too many logins crashing dovecot, so that trial had only lasted a couple of

smbd error: Matchname failed on (machine name)
Listmates, Samba has been trouble free for some time, but I have a very strange error related to one machine on my network that is filling my logs with smb errors. The box in question "ripper" is a normal WinXP box that is dual-boot with SuSE 10.3. The errors are received every 30 minutes or so: Aug 21 17:04:03 archangel smbd[3116]: [2009/08/21 17:04:03, 0]

samba 3.3.4-1, lib/util_sock.c:matchname(1749) error??
Listmates, On my Archlinux server with samba 3.3.4-1, I am getting a smbd error that is filling my logs and I'm not sure why. The box 'ripper.3111skyline.com' shown below is a dual boot box and spends most of its life and mom's XP box and masquerades as an openSuSE 10.3 box the rest of the time. There are seven other boxes on this lan with 5 others being dual boot XP/openSuSE

1.0.rc10 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc10.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc10.tar.gz.sig I've finally read all the mails in the mailing list and in my INBOX. If I haven't replied to some of your mail, please resend it. Remember that since 1.0.rc9 release dovecot.index.cache files will get rebuilt in 64bit systems, and it's probably better to delete them manually so

1.0.rc10 in inetd mode
Hey.. I'm finding that I can force dovecot (setup in inetd mode) into a wedged state by spamming it with carrage returns. As I've not had enough time to familiarize myself with the code.. I thought I'd ping the list before 1.0 is christened. -Phil.
