different auth configuration for pop and imap
Hi there, Firstly, thanks for the great software. I am just wondering if it is possible to configure dovecot to use different authentication configurations for the imap and pop processes. Specifically, I am looking to use a different SQL query for each process. Kind regards, Roger -- ------------------------------------------------------------- Ninth Avenue Software p:

pop/imap & smtp auth installation with just one userdb
Hi First of all thanks to the authors of dovecot. It's a pleasure to work with it. I would like to ask, if somebody has an idea about how I can combine all mailusers (dovecot pop/imap & sendmail smtp) into one db, given that I'd like to use sasl with CRAM-MD5 as authentication mechanism to ensure security. The idea behind my question is, that it is easier to administer all mail

Feature Request - Different SQL queries to retrieve pop and imap auth tokens
Hi! I world like to have different queries to let a user use pop only or imap only (webmail) accounts. It would really be very useful. I have not found any workaround get it working with dovecot. Could it be possible ? It should not be too difficult, I suppose. Max

Building 2.1.rc1 with cluence, but without libstemmer
Hi, I'm testing out 2.1.rc1, building against clucene 2.3.3.4. Without libstemmber, the build fails because it attempts to include SnowballAnalyzer.h which is not part of "core" clucene. Simple patch below to make dovecot 2.1.rc1 build with clucene but without libstemmer (or textcat). Looking at libstemmer itself, there are multiple versions. The version in clucene is put into

Variable expansion in LDA vs POP/IMAP
Hello all, I'm trying to understand when exactly the variable substitution happens in Dovecot, as I get different results in the LDA and in the POP/IMAP server. Here's my general setup: - Postfix MTA, delivers mail via Dovecot LDA - users list sits in a database - mail directory is stored in the database, but with Dovecot variables inside Delivery works perfectly fine,

Problems with IMAP/POP and dovecot director on backend (director_proxy_maybe)
Hello dovecot community, first of all: dovecot ist great! ;) ...nevertheless I?ve got some problems to get my director scenario running as needed/expected :( My scenario: I?d like to configure two dovecot backends, without the need for multiple dovecot instances. Both backend servers are active/active and act on top of a glusterfs storage, which implies the need for dovecot director. As

password expire warning for dovecot users in IMAP/POP login
Aki-san, Thanks for your feedback. Whatever ways will do. For instance, in a thunderbird mail client, a pop-up message or notification email telling client that the password will be expired in XX days, something like this, would be nice. How change the order POP checks mail.

Supporting POP & IMAP with Sendmail
Greetings! I dug thru the archives but didn't see a clear answer to this. A client has an existing sendmail/pop3 system, and I would like to switch to dovecot for imap support. For imap I much prefer the Maildir format over mbox, however, sendmail natively dumps to mbox (mailspool) and that is what pop typically reads. I've read the threads on how to make sendmail write to Maildir. My

Quota problems with IMAP and POP?
Hello, I would like to know if it could be appears problem using POP and IMAP in a mailbox? Is it adviced to use one of the two protocols? My users use IMAP to see their emails (in the webmail) and POP3 to download their emails (in outlook/thunderbird). Is it best to use the same protocol? POP and IMAP have the same quota engine? Thanks. -Nicolas

Is qpopper vulnerable?? Re: CERT Advisory CA-97.09 - Vulnerability in IMAP and POP
I''ve got qualcomm''s qpopper2.2, and am not sure if its vulnerable. The advisory mentions pop and imap servers, but only says: version of IMAP (Section B). If your POP server is based on the University of Washington IMAP server code, you should also upgrade to the latest version of IMAP. Until you can take one of these actions, I installed the new imapd about 3

User login for SMTP but not for IMAP/POP?
Hello everybody, I have a question, though I'm not sure if it's a matter of dovecot or postfix. Or if it's even possible to do at all. If I understand it correctly, SMTP authentification is done via SASL. When a user wants to login Postfix queries an external user database (dovecot). Therefore the SMTP-users are identical to the IMAP/POP-users. I want to achieve the following: I
