Redundant shared mail store?
Hi guys
I'm about to embark on a project replacing a legacy single mail server
running proprietary software with a cluster of Dovecot servers. We
clearly need a shared mail store for these servers, but we are not happy
with simply using a server running NFS as this becomes a single point of
failure.
What have other people used? AFAICT our options are:

Missing Files/Missing Folders from an NFS Share
Ok, starting to make sense now. In order to fix it....
I note that the lower level calls are wrapped in dir.c - eg
dptr_SeekDir(...) wraps SeekDir(...)
this might allow for some code to use array indexes instead of NFS cookies
as noted by Chris Chilvers here for the 3.10 kernel:

Missing Files/Missing Folders from an NFS Share
Alternately, we could possibly modify the dptr_TellDir function to set a
flag somewhere if it ever returns a negative offset. Then any calls to
dptr_SeekDir checks if the flag is set and does a slower approach of a
RewindDir and then multiple ReadDir & TellDir calls until we get the
matching offset. If flag is not set then go with the normal SeekDir call???

Big sites using Dovecot
Hi,
Are there any big Dovecot sites (say 50,000-100,000) users on this
list?
What sort of hardware do you use.
What sort of problems do you see?
Many thanks,
Jonathan.

default nfsmount options
Hi,
In a discussion on the kernel bugzilla (bug 11154) the question of NFS
mount options came up. Trond Myklebust seems to consider the default
nfsmount options (V3 over TCP, with timeo=7 and retrans=3) to be bad.
I don't know yet if that's my problem, but anyway, would you consider
changing the defaults to timeo=600 and retrans=2, if only just to match
the default util-linux mount

OCFSv2 in a mail cluster environment
Hello,
First, thanks to all the people who helped to license this software under
the GPL. This is a very important piece of work for the Free Software in the
Enterprise Market.
Just a few newbie questions. We've been thinking about implmenting a mail
cluster with a Fiber SAN (IBM DS-4000) and OCFSv2 as the storage
backend. The information on this volume will essentially be Postfix

ZFS with Equallogic storage
I''m planning on setting up an NFS server for our ESXi hosts and plan on using a virtualized Solaris or Nexenta host to serve ZFS over NFS.
The storage I have available is provided by Equallogic boxes over 10Gbe iSCSI.
I am trying to figure out the best way to provide both performance and resiliency given the Equallogic provides the redundancy.
Since I am hoping to provide a 2TB

Netapp like snapshots using Centos 5/6 direct attached storage
Hello,
I'm researching the best method of providing about 20 users in a production environment the same functionality as they would have on a Netapp NFS share.
The O/S I will be using is CentOS 5 or 6 (max flex on which one) and the hardware is a disk array directly (12 SAS disks 7TB un-configured brand new) attached to a HP 580 G 7.
I've done some reading on ZFS on Linux ,fuse-ZFS,

Support for SLES9
Support for SLES9 seems to be pretty much lacking at the moment.
The OCFS2 site [1] states OCFS2 is supported with SP2+. There actually
does not exist a SP2+ for SLES9 (or should this rather read "will be
supported in SP3" instead?).
Latest RPMs that come with SLES9 SP2 are 0.99.14 which has critical known
bugs and is unusable.
Anybody got to compile current source on SLES9 x86_64?

Struggling to define multiple yum/rug repositories
My head hurts from trying to figure this out for the past several hours . . .
I want to determine what provider to use based on a fact (thanks for
the suse version fact btw) but I ain''t gettin it:
What''s wrong? Am I going down the completely wrong path? Is there a better way?

tree connet failed
Hi.
I'm setting up samba on our webserver here, and are experiencing problems
connecting to the shares on the computer.
When I run this command:
smbclient //194.234.215.20/gjestebok top_secret_password trond -W
OSLONETT-KONTOR
I get this error:

mounting ocfs2 partitions on boot
Hi list,
today, I installed a two node Oracle 10g RAC system on SLES9 SP2 RC2 which
shares
(via a SAN) a database volume and a quorum (ocr and voting). This volumes
are formated
with ocfs2 - so far no problem.
At the moment I'm stuck with the mounting of these volumes at boot time.
The user-guide
of ocfs2-tools mentions to add the corresponding lines to fstab - but at
the time when

Unable to upgrade ZFS pool to feature flags, SPA version 5000, on stable/9 @ r243825
Hi,
I installed FreeBSD/amd64 9.1-RELEASE yesterday.
I chose to do a manual installation due to the use of ZFS.
I checked out stable/9 and recompiled both world and GENERIC kernel.
Said kernel and world was installed without any problems.
System is still up & running, with uname -a revealing r243825.
I then decided to upgrade the root pool to feature flags, SPA version
5000, and was not so

Problem bringing up 32-bit Sles 9 on a Dom-VT
All,
We are facing some issues bringing up a DomVT on Xen x86_64(changeset
9267).
We created a disk image with dd 8 G in size.
We then booted an associated Dom-VT with a CD-ROM and did net-install of
the sles-9 OS.
This completes successfully.
Then, when the system is brought around for a reboot (having changed the
boot option from cdrom to disk), the system hangs after the line

Documentation clarification re: SLES9 and nsswitch
Hello,
I've been unable to succeed with Samba-Ldap setup on SLES9 until this
evening.
I thought I had a PAM issue but that was not the case.
To cut to the chase, I ran Yast's 'ldap-server' module without any changes
as it found the ldap server settings.
Once finished I could join the domain from XP Pro which is what I was
unable to do. I checked what Yast did and it

Binary Packages SuSE9.0 != SLES9
Hi
I need to install a current version of samba on a server running
SuSE9.0 :-/
My Idea was to use the binary package provided at samba.org for SLES9
but I do not have the exact libraries that are needed:
libtalloc.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
libtdb.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
libwbclient.so.0 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
-> these are also
