imaps multiple domains proposal
There was a thread earlier this year that noted a difficulty in modifying dovecot to handle multiple domain certificates. This is a proposal that may require only minor modifications. Virtual domains can be set up with a unique ip address for each server; mail.domain1.tld ###.###.###.1, mail.domain2.tld ###.###.###.2, etc. Users are instructed to enter 'mail.domain?.tld' for their imap

MS Exchange SMTP Login problem
Hello, I'm using dovecot & postfix to bring smtp auth to our customers. Normal mail clients have no problem at all and I'm so satisfied. However, we're having problems with Microsoft Exchange server clients. We're using our postfix-dovecot server as smarhost for several Exchange Servers, and we wish to use TLS + basic authentication for these outgoing mails. But it seems that

SSL-read error in logfile
Now most things seem to work (rc12 on Mandriva 2007.0), I've been looking more thoroughly at the syslog file. I see a 'syscall failed' at the end of a normal timed poll from the client. I wonder what it means. Sorry for the layout, it is messed up by the cut and paste. I have created the selfsigned cert and key in the /etc/ssl/dovecot/[certs,private] directories. Egbert Jan Nov 8

Help with LDAP authentication - user / user+domain
Hello Folks, I've my dovecot working well and authenticating in my ldap servers. But I'd like configure my users to authenticate in two ways. One is just submitting the username and the other one is providing user at domain.com . I'm moving from a cyrus-imap solution to dovecot and I've implemented it with VD domains. But nowadays I still have one domain at my servers.

DRbFire / ActiveRecord performances
Hi, I''m using drbfire to send a "DRbUndumped" ActiveRecord object from the server to the client, through an ADSL line of 4Mbits/s download, and 600Kbits/s upload. I was afraid there would be too many round-trips between the client and the server, and unfortunately this is true: Server code: ------------ #!/usr/local/bin/ruby require ''rubygems'' require

model construction
I buy flowers at a local market on a fairly regular basis. The flower vendors post their prices and if I want to buy only one or two flowers I will generally get the posted price. From time to time I want to buy large quantities of flowers, and sometimes a vendor will give me a better price than their posted price for the bulk order, but more often I have to offer them a higher price than the

passwd-file contents are not being used
I am setting up my dovecot installation and I am not getting results that I expected for the authentication phase. I expected: * PAM authentication would not be attempted * passwd-file would provide gid, uid, home, mail I notice that even thought it appears that this information is returned from auth(default) in the IMAP(randykahle) phase, it is not using that information - it

Using dovecot auth with Postfix
Attempting to setup smtpd auth for Postfix using the Dovecot authorization unix socket. Some info is at: http://www.postfix.org/SASL_README.html To enable operation when Postfix is chrooted, a method from the reference above is to locate the socket at: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth To do this, I have this configuration in dovecot.conf: # listener sockets will be created by Dovecot's

Just setup Dovecot and having a small problem.
I've just installed Dovecot and am running into a bit of a problem with it. I'm using virtual email accounts and everything seems to be working up to a certain point. Let me break down how the server is setup. Each domain belongs under the directory /mail so it's path is basically: /mail/domain.tld. Within each domain directory there are two sub-directories etc and mail. Under

PAM function ordering
Dear all, I've been looking into hacking with some PAM modules, and thought I could learn from the OpenSSH source (it's probably the closest thing to a canonical cross-platform consumer of the API). One thing I've noticed I don't understand though is how OpenSSH's invocation of do_pam_session/setcred can work (in main of the process forked in sshd.c). Ignoring privsep for the

stochastic growth models
Hello, It's not easy to express clearly what I have in mind by stochastic growth models. I've been working with a couple of titles -Stochastic Models in Biology, for one, but both date back a decade or more. I'll try to illustrate the model a little more. A reasonably comparable situation is Bolker's analysis of how many flowers are created on a given plant among a patch of
