Maildir, procmail, and locks
I'm using procmail as the local delivery agent for Maildir style mailboxes. I discovered that I was able to send mail to other users but was unable to send mail to myself. Examples from verbose procmail log: **** Successful message to another user **** procmail: [24589] Fri Jun 2 15:03:34 2006 procmail: Assigning

processing Dovecot maildirs with shell scripts
Hello, I have a postfix server which uses procmail as its delivery agent to deliver incoming messages to several maildirs. For several reasons, not really relevant here, I need to process/refilter/sort again the content of these mailboxes before delivering the messages to the _other_ maildirs which Dovecot sees and serves to local or remote imap users. Basically, I need to write some shell

Maildir
I've spent most of the morning looking through the archives. Great information, however, I'm still unable to get my issues figured out. I believe I am missing something quite simple. From what I have read, I want to use maildir, mainly because it will allow the use of subfolders for my clients. My clients are running Mail.app (mostly) on 10.3 clients. I'm planning on using imap

Using procmail to mark messages as read in dovecot
So, I use procmail extensively, and I have for a long time, but marking messages as 'read' in a Maildir has always been a little wonky: TRAP='mv "$LASTFOLDER" "${LASTFOLDER}:2,S"' Since I've switched to dovecot, is there a way to mark a message on delivery as read or not new or seen? -- Clarke's Law: Sufficiently advanced technology is

dovecot Maildir issue
I'm working on switching a domain from a Cyrus+postfix+procmail to Dovecot+postfix+procmail (using Maildir). It works great, except one small problem. I cannot figure out what the permissions for my Maildir directories should be. Can anyone point me to a doc or just a few pointers on what the permissions of the Maildirs should be? The only way I seem to be able to make this config work is to

Convert from mbox to Maildir
Hello everybody, I am in the process to install dovecot as an IMAP server. Currently, this system runs postfix and uses procmail for local (mbox style) delivery. Procmail ist started by postfix like this: /etc/postfix/main.cf: mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail ~/.forward: "|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 # jw" Before going

dovecot-lda delivery to Maildir/cur as 'seen'?
Hi I've added a server-side feature where authenticated customers sending through our SMTP server have their outbound mail copied to their Sent folder (like Gmail does). The delivery script called by qmail calls dovecot-lda to deliver it to the user's Sent folder. The problem now, is that the Sent folder shows the mail as unread, which MUAs flag (and notify, in the case of some).

Using Dovecot LDA with Sendmail
Hi all, After looking at the LDA/Sendmail page in the dovecot wiki, I wanted to contribute another method to easily configure Sendmail to use deliver. Instead of adding a new mailer definition, as already suggested, one can simply use the following line in their sendmail.mc file instead: FEATURE(`local_procmail', `/usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver', `deliver -d $u',

procmail/formail --> Maildir
Hello List, i switched mailformat from mbox to maildir. Now i have a little problem with procmail/formail and headermanipulation of mails. mbox to Maildir conversion
I've been running a mbox solution using UW's IMAP server. I've run it for years. Now do to heavy message volumes, I've decided to to take the plunge to convert to the Maildir format. Procmail with Dovecot
Hey folks, here's a question. I want to enable procmail for the users so that they can have their incoming messages sorted info various folders and such regardless of MUA access or web access. I know I can set procmail to deliver to a maildir, but wouldn't that screw up dovecot's indexes? If it would, what can I do to ensure that the indexes stay correct? Thanks! -- Dan Egli On my

A little OT but hopefully still related enough... Maildir Delivered mail naming problems.
Normally I wouldn't post off topic to a mailing list, but I have posted every where else I can think of and haven't had any success yet working this out. I know there has to be a few people here with extensive knowledge of how mail works and maybe just a tip in the right direction would help me out at this point. I have migrated from mbox format to Maildir format in the last week. I
