Being strict on differentiating between IEC prefixes and SI prefixes.
One of the greatest things about rails is that it is so standards-compliant, no other framework that I have seen have complied to the HTTP standard (think REST) in such a degree that Rails does. Kudos to you all for that. I think we (Rails community) should follow the line of standards compliance and also take it to the binary prefixes [1], i.e. kilobytes, megabytes, etc. For more than half a

Deferring, instead of rejecting, messages when at quota
Greetings - I'm having trouble working out where to alter this behaviour (so please forgive me if it turns out to be an Exim thing rather than Dovecot!)... My test service is using Exim as the MTA and Dovecot's "deliver" for the LDA. We are using Maildir mailboxes with filestore quotas. When I send a large test message to myself that cannot be delivered because I

maildir++ specification compliance.
Hi folks. I was doing some testing this morning and realized Dovecot RC2 isn't fully compliant with the maildir++ specification. Most notably, it appears that Dovecot isn't creating a "maildirfolder" file (0 byte length) in folders it creates. >From http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html "Within each subdirectory there's an empty file,

Conflict -> Dovecot + Maildrop (maildirsize)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm having some problems with quota from sql (maildir++) and dovecot + maildrop. I'm using maildrop for MDA and dovecot as IMAP server. When an e-mail arrives, maildrop calculates the quota and updates the 'maildirsize' file. When i use dovecot (webmail, thunderbird) it updates the 'maildirsize' too, overwriting it, but in a

Maildir++ quota: When is it recalculated?
We use Maildir++ quota, with the rules taken from our LDAP backend. We also have an old expunge script that's not quota-aware; it removes old messages from the maildir by simply deleting the files. Sometimes, a mailbox is over quota before the script runs, but well under quota after the old messages are deleted. This change does not seem to be picked up, however: When I try to deliver a new

Maildir++ implementation issues.
Hi Timo and crew! I'm doing more testing with Dovecot and Maildrop today and have run across some strangeness. It appears as if Maildrop stores updates to the maildirquota file in a way that causes Dovecot to ignore them. In my test scenario, Dovecot just rebuilt my maildirsize file to the following: 0S 86213796 108 After delivering a few messages through Postfix -> Maildrop and have

Prayer, Maildir and Folders whose names begin with "."
Greetings - I think I've just had one of my fears confirmed: not Dovecot-specific exactly, but it affects how we will use of Prayer (Webmail Software) with Dovecot... Currently our production service uses MBX-format mailboxes with the UW IMAP server; we also use the University of Cambridge "Prayer" software for Webmail. By default Prayer saves its preference settings,

Maildir++ problem
Hi to all, I am semi-new to the dovecot system, but i like it very much for the versatility of all the system. I have a problem: i am migrating my servers from postfix with vda patch + courier imap to dovecot. All works fine, except for one thing: i use Maildir++ format, but i don't know how to make the file maildirsize into the home of the users. This file is needed by me becouse i have a

1.1rc4 problem with maildir++ quota and POP3
Hi, it looks like there is a bug (in dovecot or in my config) with quota on maildir mailboxes when accessed via POP3. The maildirsize is not created when not already present (even after a DELE + QUIT command). The quota limit (the first line of maildirsize) is not updated if values are not in sync with those in the database. If maildirsize is present, DELE commands are correctly reported in

vpopmail quota
Hi, I'd like the vpopmail user database to return the quota settings for users, instead of having to rely on the validity of the maildirsize files. It doesn't look like this is currently possible. Would simply adding a auth_stream_reply_add call for "quota" with a suitable value in vpopmail_lookup be sufficient to make this work? (the quota can be read from the pw_shell

Beta 7 maildir++ "unlimited quota"
Hi. It looks like Beta 7 is treating a zero quota in maildirsize as a literal quota value. The maildir++ specification says a zero quota means unlimited. Steve

Slightly OT : Maildir format (silly) questions
Hello, I was asking what was the motivation for not having the envelope From in the Maildir format, as defined in the qmail spec : "The message is delivered without an extra UUCP- style From_ line, without any >From quoting, and without an extra blank line at the end." which may sound silly since we lose an important piece of information. Same question about the motivation in

Dovecot quota dict
Hi, Im using dovecot with maildir++ quota and I have this problem, maybe some of you already solve this and can helpme. I want to use some flat file to tell exim and dovecot the quota limit for each user, i tried to work with exim and maildirsize file, but exim just ignores the limits there. I need a way (a really simple one, i dont want to create a database or an ldap server just for this) to

Human readable output
Hello, I would like to suggest an option to rsync that makes it output sizes in human readable units, instead of always using bytes. So Total file size: 30864401502 bytes would be output as: Total file size: 28.7 GiB Similarly for mebibytes and kibibytes. If there's already such an option, then I'm sorry -- I didn't find it in the manual pages. -- Martin Geisler

maildir++ quota support on dovecot
Some information about maildir++ that I have read: http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Quota/Maildir When I have to deliver a message with an MDA I can use dovecot-lda. If I have enabled "quota = maildir:User quota" I am pretty sure that in the mailbox on file system I find a file named "maildirsize" maildirsize on top contain

Maildirsize automatically (re)build
Hi, Im testing with 1.1RC1. I read here: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota/Maildir "If you configure quota limits in Dovecot (e.g. quota=maildir:storage=102400(kilobytes)), Dovecot makes sure that this header is kept up to date. If the file does not exist, it's simply rebuilt." This is my query: password_query = SELECT username as user, username as userdb_user, passwd as password,

quota calculating
Hey everyone, Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered, qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can, but haven't yet

Maildir Quota backend
Hi, I've noticed that in the maildir backend for the quota plugin the quota limit is being read in kilobytes. In the quota-maildir.c at maildir_quota_init() , line 550 (rc18) if (strncmp(*args, "storage=", 8) == 0) { size = strtoull(*args + 8, NULL, 10) * 1024; if (size != 0) root->message_bytes_limit = size; root->master_message_limits = TRUE; } The value

Dovecot + Exim + Maildir quota problem
Hi all i'm a new user of this list, i got a server with DirectAdmin which has exim as MUA, dovecot as POP/IMAP server, recently i added the quota to exim and pointed the maildirsize file in the same location if the dovecot's one so both services can interact with it. This has been done to let exim update the quotas while doing localdelivery while dovecot can show quotas through
