File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash
Hello, I'm seeing the following error on a server: File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash The Trash file is full of the following at the beginning: ^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^ I've repaired the file several times, but this keeps happening. Would any of you mind offering me some insight into what could be causing this and how to fix it? Below is

Compiling 3.4.0 on SPARC Solaris 9
I've been trying to compile Samba 3.4.0 on a Solaris 9 server. However, when I run configure, it is only creating a Makefile-noincludes, not the standard Makefile. Looking at the config.log file, there are lines that suggest that it can't find the libiconv libraries. These are installed (version 1.11) in /usr/local so I tried re-running configure with the option --with-libiconv=/usr/local.

quota problems - which Dovecot version ?
Hi, I've got a little problem with Dovecot IMAP. Everything works nice ( pam auth, ldap userdb, and so on ) BUT i need to uses quotas and it doesn't seem to work. I tried both ways : 1) user dovecot-ldap.conf with user_attrs, as it's shown on dovecot wiki ; 2) use the commandes "plugin {.........." in dovecot.conf But it didn't work. Strangely, when i try to use the

Mailbox problem
Greetings, I am using dovecot as our POP3 and IMAP server and Squirrelmail for the Webmail. Some of our users get the error message below when trying to access the mailbox using Webmail: "ERROR: Could not complete request. Query: SELECT "INBOX" Reason Given: Internal error occurred. Error report written to server log. [2008-05-12 09:08:39] To resolve this

Purpose of files under .imap
I've got a user with an unusable account. Tbird just sits in a loop endlessly logging in over and over when a particular folder is selected. What files under .imap associated with that folder can be safely deleted? What's stored in all of them? I see all of these: .customflags dovecot.index dovecot.index.cache dovecot.index.log .imap.index .imap.index.data .imap.index.log

Problem with Dovecot Delivery Agent, Extra "From" lines and mbox
When an mbox email contains a line that looks like a "Mail" header it should be quoted (per RFC 4155). Sendmail's delivery agent does this, as does Procmail delivery agent. Dovecot deliver does not do this. Example line, with ">" quote: >From hokan at hokan.org Thu Mar 8 17:28:01 2008 When reading email (IMAP) that contains such an unquoted line, the email

Problems compiling ADS support on Solaris 9
We are encountering some problems compiling a working version of Samba 3.4.1 with ADS support on Solaris 9. We've run autogen.sh and configure successfully (config.log attached), followed by make and make install. However, despite having openldap and Heimdal Kerberos (1.2.1) installed, and including the configure switches --with-ads --with-ldap --with-krb5=/usr/heimdal, when we try a net join

Dovecot and horde issues
Hello, First time poster to this list, please be kind. I am having difficulties trying to get the current stable version of horde's imp webmail to work correctly using dovecot 1.0rc15. I am using a pre-release version of SME Server 8 which runs on top of CentOS 5. I have also tried using the 1.0 release of dovecot as well. What is happenning is that when I login to imp, I don't

corrupted inboxes
Hi all, Two users on our system have recently had trouble reading their inbox, and it seems to be a result of their inbox getting corrupted. In the most recent case, their Mailbox file (in /home/eric/Mailbox in this case), has the following as the first line: cnw.igmg-- Here's a piece of the logs below... if you look for "eric", there's a successfully delivery,

ssh2 authentication and ip forwarding
I'd been hoping to move all of our site to ssh protocol 2 whilst we are still small enough to do this without serious pain, however the lack of authentication and connection forwarding is making that difficult at present. I see the current (2.2.0p1) code base does not have the code on either client or server side for ssh2 to handle tunneled connections or authentication agent. Is this

ACLS without winbind (but WITH correct user mapping)
Thanks to some of the guys on #samba-technical (obnox in particular!), I now have a working samba configuration. The environment: In our setup each user has an entry in both openldap (no samba schemes) and AD. Each account has the same name and even has a Unix UID entry in AD. Our users ssh into Linux boxes, authenticating off of openldap. Files are shared via samba. Due to the account

Challenge response authentication and PAM
As an experiment I set up Challenge/response authentication on a Linux system with PAM using a pam_opie module (this module works fine with console logins and su). I can log into the box using the opie password, *but* it does not give me the challenge - which can make things a little tricky :-) I can well believe this might be a fault in the PAM pam_opie module I am using, so has anyone got

A simple question??
Dear all, I'm currently use R v0.99 on Windows 98 Second Edition. I have a question on some simple calculations. I wonder that I've done something wrong with the calculation. Here is the imput commands: > a <- 25.01 > b <- 56.08 > a.trunc <- trunc(a) > b.trunc <- trunc(b) > a.tail <- a - a.trunc > b.tail <- b - b.trunc > a.trunc [1] 25 >

StrictHostKeyChecking
Long ago, when I wrote the ssh config file on my desktop box, ssh (which might have been the non-openssh one) took 3 possible values for the StrictHostKeyChecking option - yes, no & ask. Today, when I attempted to connect to a new machine, with no DNS entries (so using IP address) from my desktop box, ssh (now 2.3.0p1) SEGVed. Looks like there is some subtle interaction between having an

RH7.2 journal creation
Stephen et al, You may remember me raising the point that the new e2fsprogs (1.25 as I remember) griped about old journals not having all the appropriate fields zeroed. I've just discovered that the RH 7.2 installer produces journals (ie on partitions created as ext3 from within the installer) that flag these warnings with a modified 1.25 e2fsck (the mods being to clear the errors rather

Mapping AD domain users to UNIX users
We're using Samba 3.0.23b (binaries downloaded from Sunfreeware) on Solaris 9 as a member server, using "security = DOMAIN" in an Active Directory 2003 domain. The server is primarily an application server, running SAS software, but we have a share to Windows to enable users to save programs and data from their Windows XP workstations. Historically we've been using PC Netlink,
