POP to IMAP Transition
I am using Dovecot IMAP and added an IMAP folder to an Outlook client
which is also popping another account. Both account folders exist in the
same client. I am wondering if I can drag the pop-ed mail to the IMAP
folder, thereby transferring old mail to the IMAP folder? Outlook allows
me to click and drag folders into the IMAP folder.
You see where I am going with this, I wnat to

Newbie on Fedora 5
Hey Guys,
I want to transition from Merak to Postfix/Dovecot. I am not sure how to
begin. I have been reading the different Howtos - cocktail of services to
Postfix like ClamAV, Spamassissin, Greylisting, Jamm, SquirrelMail.
The thing is that I want stable IMAP mail. Here is what I want to do:
a. Stand alone linux box for email only - 25 users
b. provide IMAP and web
c. provide SSL

PCA with random effects
I have the results of a rating study in which ~30 participants rated a subset
of 20 items on 25 different dimensions.
I would like to perform PCA on these ratings to reduce the 25 different
dimensions. However, instead of doing this on the mean ratings for each
item, I would like to perform the PCA at the level of individual ratings. I
am assuming that in order to do this I have to specify the

How to open only these dovecot ports?
Hello,
I have not clear, due to the new syntax, how to configure dovecot 1.0
to listen only for the following combinations of ports and services:
no pop3, from whatever host
accept imap connections only if coming from localhost (since I
understand this is secure _and_ the only way to make
squirrelmail talk to dovecot)
listen on the internet only for imaps and pop3s connections, accept
them

imap flags - \* - dovecot 1.1.{8,9}
Isn't \* supposed to be (almost always) in flags after "SELECT" command in dovecot imap?
Isn't \* meaning is "you can store any new flag" ?
20 select INBOX
* FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft)
* OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft)] Flags permitted.
so no \* ...

ssl connections frozen, client times out
Hi there,
I'm using the latest Thunderbird & Dovecot. I'm trying to setup either
pop3s or imaps. The plain versions of the protocols both work fine for
me, even with the TLS option selected in Thunderbird. But when I try to
use the ssl versions, my client does not negotiate - it just time's out.
I have as much logging enabled as possible and the only thing that shows

sieve_execute_bytecode(/var/vmail/domain1/user/dovecot.sievec) failed
I am trying to implement vacation with sieve in dovecot, but each time
I try to use a sieve rule that sends a mail, like vacation or reject,
I obtain this error code_
sieve_execute_bytecode(/var/vmail/domain1/user/dovecot.sievec) failed
Checking syslog I found this message:
sieve runtime error: Reject: No return-path for reply
Googling I found a report of a problem like this but I can't

Fatal: sigaction(SIGRTMIN) failed: Invalid argument
Hello all,
I`ve tried to run dovecot many times in my system (Conectiva Linux
9) and was unable to do so. For some reason it gives this message and
quits - never runs.
My system:
Linux ba.gazetaweb.com 2.4.21-28872cl #1 Sex Mar 21 22:02:49 BRT
2003 i686 unknown
I`m migrating from UW-IMAPD to dovecot. I've compiled it from
sources, using default configurations.
Any help

Password auth with Postfixadmin & MySQL
I am trying to get Postfix, Dovecot, Postfixadmin, and MySQP all
working together. I'm using 1.0.5 atm.
I've hit a point where I can't seem top get dovecot to auth to the
MySQL password database
It seems to see the user OK, but I can't seem to get a password match.
MySQL has password stored as MD5, as per Postfixadmin. When I add
plain-md5 to the auth mechanisms dovecot

dovecot-antispam: Failed to read mail beginning, Next message unexpectedly lost
Hello,
I'm trying to configure the dovecot-antispam plugin.
Now I've run into a problem: whenever I try to move/copy a message
in/from the spam mailbox, Thunderbird (and also Sylpheed, haven't tried
anything else) says:
The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Failed
to read mail beginning.
and in the logs I get:

After an upgrade to FC5, and a rebuild and install of dovecot 1.0RC7,
I've been getting a LOT of syslog messages like the following:

Now, everything is working fine as far as I can tell (it's only been a

PAM Error on POP3s auth? And apop?
Fellow Dovecot'ers,
I've -almost- got Dovecot completely functional, and I will add that it works just fine for non-authenticated POP3.
The problem begins when I try to use authentication for same against the system's /etc/passwd section. This is the error message that comes up in /var/log/maillog
