How do I pass form values from POST controller specs?
Hi there
I just started my first Merb app and I''m running into some weird
things in Specs. When I do:
describe "create action" do
it "should create a new project" do
project_params = {:name => ''bekkunin''}
Project.should_receive(:create).with(project_params)
controller, action = post(''/projects'', :project

What does js partial(...) do?
In the example application named "sample_app", comment.jerb contains
the following line:
$(''comments'').update(<%=js partial(:comments) %>);
What does the ''js'' method do to/with, if anything at all, ''partial(:comments)''?
Merb is quite fun to use and I''m starting to get a feel for it and
ruby. I''m surprised at

templates with same name before extension are cached
Hi all,
I was just wondering if this is the intended behavior. Here is my setup:
controller
def index
respond_to do |f|
f.xml { render :xml => true }
f.html { render :layout => :none }
end
end
In my views I have a file for each type
index.herb
index.xerb
The first request I send is cached and interferes with the other one.
For example, if I send an xml request

Help a newb with 0.3.1
Hi, first off thanks Ezra for Merb - it''s certainly interesting and
I''m keen to have a play. However, I''m having difficulties in getting
started. I''ve followed the docs for setting up mrblog and everything
seems to be installed correctly, and merb appears to start fine:
$ merb
you must install the markaby gem to use .mab templates

wrong startup information in production environment
Hi,
I check out the last codes from merb repository. And the startup
information for production environment just like that:
======================================================
dev:/var/www/apps/upload_merb/current/log# /etc/init.d/merb_init start
Merb started with these options:
---
:template_ext:
:html: :herb
:js: :jerb
:xml: :xerb
:config: dist/conf/upload.conf

what''s the view format in trunk?
dumb question but what''s the view format in trunk?
I have a simple router:
Merb::Router.prepare do |r|
# default route, usually you don''t want to change this
r.default_routes
# change this for your home page to be avaiable at /
r.add ''/'', :controller => ''upload'', :action =>''new''
end
I have a simple controller

Trying to use ActiveRecord STI but fails
Hi all,
I''m wondering about my sanity here. There''s probably something simple I
overlooked. First off, I have close to zero experience with Merb.
1. I configured use_orm :activerecord in config/dependencies.rb;
2. I have a file named app/models/measurement.rb which looks like this:
class Measurement < Observation
end
3. I have another file named

Xml templates...
I was looking in using an xml_builder template to do something like:
blee.xerb
xml.blees do
<% for blee in @blees %>
xml.blee = blee.name
<% end %>
end
It looks like the xml_builder template can''t expand the erb tag.
It this not the correct way to expand and xml template ?
Thanks !

what did I do?
I''m following merb trunk. This morning I updated my gems, sync''d merb
source and installed the merb gem from source. I don''t know if I did
something wrong, or if a new gem messed things up, or if there was a
merb change which broke something. Now I get this error:
Request: REQUEST_URI: / (2007-11-05 20:27:04)

Nested partials losing the view context ?
Hi all !
I can''t seem to make a simple thing work... The code is here:
http://pastie.caboo.se/130660
Essentially, that''s a form with a couple of partials. The backtrace is
included in the pastie. It looks like the context for the current view
is lost when a partial is rendered. In _series.html.erb:2, I use
"series" to get the name. This is the parameter I

merb_sequel raketasks not working?
I''m trying to run on trunk. When I run "rake -T" I get an error:
undefined local variable or method `full_config'' for Merb::Orms::Sequel:Module
I''m not 100% sure that I haven''t messed something up, so I hesitate to
cry "bug" without checking with everyone. Is anyone else seeing this?
P.S. I''m running merb trunk installed as a gem,

ActiveRecord Sessions
I am considering using merb to process file uploads. For the most
part I''m going to keep it lean and mean. I would however like to
access my active_record_session from my Rails app. Is this built into
merb yet?
Or is it OK to just add require ''action_controller/session/
active_record_store'' to merb_init.rb and then create my own session
object

Transfer-encoding: gzip
Hello!
What is the simplest way to make merb respond to the client sending Accept-Encoding: gzip?
Just checking if it exists, otherwise I''ll implement it myself.

Loading config YAML into merb process for the life of the process
Hey Chaps,
Forgive me for not fully understanding the inner workings of merb, but
I would like to read in a YAML configuration file once when the
application is booted rather than reading it every time it is used (as
presumably the overhead in doing that is significant?) - I had
presumed this is how both Merb and rails do it for there database.yml
config files (hence its a requirement

respond_to API
I''ll probably do my respond_to API rewrite, as discussed here:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/merb-devel/2007-September/000275.html
sometime this week, unless someone has come up with a better API.
I''ll also work in http://merb.devjavu.com/ticket/227 at the same time.
Any serious objections?

Ticket #190 (friendlier way to add / register a mime type)
Following up on #190 [1], I''ve just added a simple patch that allows
the manipulation of the TYPES hash from within the Merb module. Use
like:
Merb.add_mime_type(:png,%w[image/png])
Merb.remove_mime_type(:png)
It specifically disallows the removal of the :all MimeType, since
content negotiation relies on it.
I''m not super wonderful at API design, so comments and

How do you run an app on "edge merb"?
I didn''t quite see a direct answer to Matt''s question regarding
running merb from SVN:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/merb-devel/2007-July/000132.html
In a merb application, is there something comparable to having rails
in the vendor/ folder of a rails app?
Thanks,

Merb::RenderMixin#set_status refers to non-existent RESPONSE_CODES constant
#set_status
http://merb.devjavu.com/browser/trunk/lib/merb/mixins/render.rb#L270
refers to a non-existent constant. I tried, while creating #359, to
make things OK, but I failed. I started by using STATUS_CODES instead,
then used #[] instead of calling a method named STATUS_CODES, then I
found out that during the call to #inherited

Couple of questions for Merb 0.4
All,
I have just updated to the latest release of merb 0.4 and I am
wondering how I can get my controller changes
to reload without bouncing the server ? I am running in dev mode
but my changes to my merb controller don''t
seem to get picked up on new requests.
Also say I have a controller that needs to render an alternate
xml format ie something like:

Where to start debugging
Hi,
I''ve adopted a project that uses some rails features I''m not quite
used to yet. (ie merb, haml)
There is a snippet below. I''m not even sure what other part of the
code to include to help with this. I''m open to suggestions :)
$ merb
