Tinc performance on a Dir-300
Hi, we are using Tinc in our Freifunk Network in Oldenburg for internode connections over the internet. So Tinc is running on OpenWrt 10.03 on Dlink Dir-300 Routers. We all have enough internet bandwith (1,6 MB/sec and more) but we only get a maximum speed of ~350KB/sec between two tinc nodes because then tinc uses 99% of the cpu. Is it possible to get more Speed with tinc on this machines?

R Compilation error on Ubuntu
Hi I bought a new laptop HP dv9500 just a week ago and installed a Ubuntu gutsy ribbon on this laptop. I wanted to install Fedora but there are more threads on Ubuntu, so I decided to install Ubuntu. After hours of struggle in configuring x server/graphic card stuff, I installed R for Gutsy ribbon using "sudo apt-get install g77 r-core'. Now when I tried to install 'sp' package

How to wrap my (working) code in a loop or function? (loop/function newbie alert)
Dear R-helpers, I have split a dataframe into a list with five elements, with the following code: > datalist<-split(data,data$UNIT) I would now like to run some code (below) on each element of the list to extract rows from the list elements; then I would like to rbind the extracted rows into a new dataframe containing all of the extracted rows from all of the list elements. I don't

transition matrices
I am working with transition matrices of sequences of animal behaviours. What I would like to do is parse the original matrices, adjusting row/column order so that the matrix has its main values in blocks surrounding the diagonal. This would cause behaviours involved in functional groupings (e.g. grooming, resting, foraging etc) to appear as blocks. This can be done manually by applying

"Core Show" being assumed before commands
Good Afternoon, I have an Asterisk box that is acting like it is passing "core show" before every command I type. For example, if I type sip, I will get "No such command 'sip' (type 'core show help sip' for other possible commands). Any ideas? -- -jayson

points on a sphere
Not an R question directly, but has anyone got a method for placing a moderately large number of (near) equi-spaced points on a sphere? I have a nasty feeling platonic solids are needed for exact solutions and I'm thinking of samplings involving around 200 - 1000 regularly-spaced points, Thanks, Richard Rowe Richard Rowe Senior Lecturer Department of Zoology and Tropical Ecology, James

[LLVMdev] Changing The '.' Used to Prefix Labels in Assembly Output
I'm working on an LLVM back end with output to assembly file (.s). I'm using the ARM assembly printer. The generated labels (e.g. for a while statement) start with '.' like .LBB0_1 I would like to change the '.' to something else (specifically $$ if it matters). I see a lot of customizability in targetinfo.cpp but not that particular item. Where should I be looking?

Heartbleed openssl vulnerability?
Do we know if dovecot is vulnerable to the heartbleed SSL problem? I'm running dovecot-2.0.9 and openssl-1.01, the latter being intrinsically vulnerable. An on-line tool says that my machine is not affected on port 993 but it would be nice to know for sure if we were vulnerable for a while. (Naturally I've blocked it anyway!). Thanks John

if ... problem with compound instructions
I am having problems with the 'if' syntax. I have an n x 4 matrix, X say. The first two columns hold x, y values and I am attempting to fill the second two columns with the quadrant in which the datapoint (x, y) is and with the heading angle. So I have two problems 1) how to do this elegantly (at which I've failed as I can't seem to vectorize the problem) and 2) how to

finding the colour at a point
I think this was asked recently but I can't find the item. Is it possible to find the colour at a point on a graphics page? I want to estimate the area of a complex shape by colouring it then random sampling from an enclosing box ... Samba and XP - Updated Registry - Still no go
One user on our church network is using XP Home Edition. I updated the registry as I have seen posted on various sites. He is still not able to connect. I have the feeling it is because he has joined a "workgroup" and not a "domain". I am able to change the workgroup name but I can't seem to figure out how to join a domain instead. Is there a restriction that the

Windows OS, R and unicode
I'm trying to use the biological female and male signs in R2.5.1 under Windows XP. I can access and insert these symbols using word-processors. In general these should be available as \u2640 and \u2642 but I can't make them happen in R using (say) text(5,5, "\u2640") message "invalid \uxxxx sequence" I've replaced Arial with Arial unicode MS in Rdevga and

Bug: maildirsize not updated when deleting folders
When using maildir++ quotas, if you delete an IMAP folder, the maildirsize file should get updated so that it subtracts the size of the messages that were contained in the deleted IMAP folder. However Dovecot is not doing this, resulting in Dovecot showing an incorrect quota value until the next time the maildirsize file is rebuilt. Bill

Change line colors based on data values in Lattice
Say I have x = seq(1, 40) y = seq(1, 40)^2 g = rep(c("A", "B", "A", "B"), each = 10) xyplot(y~x, groups = g, type = 'l') Is there a way to have a single line and have it be one color when g == "A", and another when g == "B"? ZFS & small files
First - many, many congrats to team ZFS. Developing/writing a new Unix fs is a very non-trivial exercise with zero tolerance for developer bugs. I just loaded build 27a on a w1100z with a single AMD 150 CPU (2Gb RAM) and a single (for now) SCSI disk drive: FUJITSU MAP3367NP (Revision: 0108) hooked up to the built-in SCSI controller (the only device on the SCSI bus). My initial ZFS test was to

considering dovecot
Hi all. I'm making a case to use Dovecot over Courier and would like some feedback. I've searched the web extensively and have been unable to find any hard information regarding Dovecot's IMAP performance. I've got some pressure to use Courier but my gut tells me that Dovecot should be much faster. In particular, I will have typical users with mailboxes exceeding 10,000

ext3 on a KT133A chipset
Hi, With 2.4.14 and the ext3 patch on redhat7.2 with my KT133A Athlon system, the kernel panics on boot up just after starting init. I removed the ext3 patch and the kernel did not panic (However I could not mount my ext3 file systems :) ). Is this a proble with ext3 of something different? Thanks for any help. BaRT
