darkice connection error
Wanted to give a quick update. The problem still exists but I may have isolated the problem a bit. I tried to stream to the icecast server using both liveice and holyshout. Neither could connect. I also had a friend (thx vanguardist) attempt to stream remotely to my server. He received a connection error as well. It would appear to me (in my AMATEUR opinion) that the icecast server is not

"sleeping without queue" ?
Hello! My attempt to build openoffice.org-3 seems to be hanging. Pressing Ctrl-T produces: load: 0.11 cmd: tcsh 79759 [sleeping without queue] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 0k (tcsh is used by OOo's build-script). What is this "sleeping without queue" state, and why is process in it for so long? This is an 4-CPU amd64 system with 4Gb of RAM. Only 16% of the swap is currently in use and

Can't get hpa-tftpd working on Slackware 9.1
Hi, I have a question on tftpd on Slackware - I know this is an embedded Linux forum, but I think it still must be the appropriate place to ask. I have hpa-tftpd V0.40 on Slackware 9.1. No matter what I do, I can't get files transferred to the tftp server. I just get timeouts - no messages in /var/log/messages or in /var/log/syslog - just dealthly silence. This is the configuration line

Large & busy site, NFS with deliver only servers
Timo / Others, I have been working on a new installation for a fairly busy site, and after many weeks of tribulation have come to an architecture Im happy with: 2x Debian (2.6.18) - MXing machines running Postfix / MailScanner / Dovecot-LDA (A slightly patched RC17 for prettier Quota bounces) 2x Debian (2.6.18) - Mail retrieval machines running Dovecot IMAP/POP3 (Currently RC17) 3x Node Isilon

Last login fields
Hey guys, Wondering if anyone has tried to do this before - a last login timestamp field. Using mysql for auth, I figured it would be easy enough to add a timestamp field and then tack an UPDATE statement on the end of the password_query. But of course, dovecot sees this as only one statement to pass to MySQL - of which MySQL barfs at.. Any ideas on how to achieve this ? Regards

maildirsize corruption
Using maildir++ with LDA and POP/IMAP we have been seeing intermittant maildirsize corruption. Where an operation will be prepended by a handful of ASCI null characters ^@^@. RSpec stories introduction
I have played a bit with RSpec specs and now want to check out stories. I note that there is no generator for rspec stories pre se (unless I managed to miss all references to one ) and that the only directory relating to stories added by installing rspec is ./stories itself. The documentation at rspec.info seems to presume a great deal of prior knowledge. What I am looking for is a guided tour

Possibly memory leak & DoS
I am not sure, spent all the day looking the code and couldn't find the problem, but the problem exists: For each connection _without_ a source (a 404 error), about 100 bytes are leaked. It's easy to test: for i in `seq 10000 `; do echo -n -e $i'\r'; \ wget -q http://HOST:8000/any_uri -O /dev/null; done; echo After running it, you'll probably see (with "ps axl")

Dovecot servers / SAN
Hey guys, Wondering if anyone out there has any input on running Dovecot with SAN storage. Its coming to the time where we need to run load balanced servers, and past experiences steer us away from a NAS. Tips / pitfalls ? The following Dovecot-LDA message is generated: ---- Message body ---- Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent. Apologies if this is an <=rc19 thing, but am waiting for rc24 to come into Debian unstable/testing before upgrading. Pause in file transfers while printing,

Pause in access of realtime file transfers when printing
Hello, I'm running Slack 8.1 and Samba 2.2.4. The mp3 I'm playing off of the server, or anything else realtime for that matter, pauses when a print job is sent to the box. I'm printing to a small cheap print server that does lpr. The pause seems to occur when my linux box sends the job to the actual print server (by the looks of my switch activity) hanging off of my printer, so the

Understanding fcntl() error messages
Hey guys, After many trials and tribulations I have now got some fairly stable NFS clients serving dovecot-lda and pop3/imap. Over a 9 hour postal/rabid stress test only saw 5 errors for the 4 servers. Wondering if anyone can shed a bit more light on what they mean exactly. I have tried to find "Resource temporarily unavailable" and "No locks available" in the src to get
