Dovecot LDA - Performance/issues versus postfix delivery? Also, installing on OS X?
Can anyone give me an idea of whether or not dovecot-lda can solve the following issue: We seem to have constantly-corrupting dovecot* files for people who fit one (or more) of the following categories: 1) 1000+ message inboxes; 2) multiple clients simultaneously checking mail; 3) people receiving a lot of mail, and/or the server receiving and trying to deliver a single message to all users at

OS X-centricities? Too many files, temp, indexes, etc...
I'm just writing to see if anyone else is seeing the following issues, and particularly if they are running OS X (especially 10.4), and/or have compatible solutions (I've been reading the mailing list quite a bit, and every now and then, I find a solution that just "doesn't work" because of the differences in OS: 1) Too many files open - no plimit command on OS X, so I

HOWTO: Install RMagick on OS X
Hello all fellow Mac OS X Railers. I''m just setting up a new MacBook from scratch. Everything has gone very easily, so I decide to attempt to install RMagick from scratch once again, something that I''ve wrestled with in the past, finally punting and going with a DarwinPorts ImageMagick install then direct gem install of RMagick. Well, I had no problems and have achieved

[LLVMdev] Patch to VMKIT tools makefile
Hello, Here's a tiny patch to the VMKIT tools makefile, that allows you to build VMKIT without both Java and CLI. I'm working on a new bytecode front end so wanted a 'clean' mvm without building to two existing front ends. Currently it still tries to build VMJC even when its told not to build the JNJVM. This patch fixes that. Index: tools/Makefile

[LLVMdev] Patch to VMKIT tools makefile
Hi Dean, Applies thanks! Out of curiosity, which part of mvm are you using? I guess the GC? RMagick on OS X - HOW
Hello all. I''m a seasoned system administrator and have no fear of building source packages on a variety of platforms, but RMagick has, until recently, evaded all of my attempts to building it on my PowerBook. Someone else just mentioned that they had trouble with RMagick on OS X (Intel, don''t really know if my advice will help) so I decided to post a HOWTO to the list. I

mongrel_cluster on OS X 10.5 Leopard
So, Leopard server has been great, most everything I need is here. Thanks to a nice example here: http://www.cyberarmy.net/library/article/1722/ I was even able to sort out using Mongrel with Apache 2. All works out of the box, except mongrel_cluster. The gem just won''t install. I could really use some guidance here. I did try the darwinports mongrel_cluster install from here:

Bizarre failure of samba shares to XP
OK, this one is really strange, and I'm not sure where to go with it. Here's the setup ... Main box is running Debian testing/sarge with samba 3.0.5. Earlier it was 3.0.4 and 3.0.2. Very generic installation for home, acting as a file server for several XP Pro boxes, and everything has been running swimmingly. Using USER security, with users logging in to the XP boxes with the same ID

LDA not being called by postfix?
Hello, I'm using Postfix with virtual domains (MySQL), Dovecot 1.0beta7 and CVS LDA. I've set up postfix to use the LDA for maildir delivery and defined a global sieve script. -- master.cf -- ... dovecot unix - n n - - pipe flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail argv=/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d ${recipient} ... -- main.cf -- smtpd_banner =

Current thinking on backups ?
I run a pair of dovecot servers for personal small domains with several layers of backup in place ... - The two dovecot servers replicate to each via a Tinc vpn mesh. That gives email resiliency. - All mail is replicated via offlineimap to a 3rd server over that Tinc vpn. It's on the mesh, it has space, so why not ? - All mail is replicated as well as via mbsync to a zfs dataset on my

problems getting dovecot-LDA to work
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've setup a test machine and have been playing with dovecot-1.0beta7 and dovecot-lda in preparation for a migration from 0.99.x series. (hopefully with the ability to support imap-quotas) anyways, i've got it all compiled fine (as far as I can tell) and following the directions on the wiki for setting up dovecot LDA with sendmail. more LDA woes
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 OK. So, I got over some of the segfault problems I was having with dovecot 1.0beta7 and have even downloaded and installed the latest CVS version which is properly providing quota information to thunderbird (although Mail.app doesn't show the quota details) now i've also downloaded the CVS version of dovecot-LDA and have run autogen.sh and

Hello, I''ve installed Ruby 1.8.4 via Darwinports, installed gem 0.8.11 too and then installed Rails via gem. I''m using OS X 10.3.9. When I now type rails in the terminal, the following lines appear: # rails /opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.2.5/lib/ active_support/values/time_zone.rb:12: undefined method `attr_reamer'' for TimeZone:Class

installing dovecot on Mac OS X
Hi, I'm trying to install dovecot on Mac OS X, and I'm having trouble to make it run. If someone could point me to what I'm doing wrong or suggest some documentation to read, I'd be very glad (I've search the wiki for Mac OS X specific documentation, but could not find any). I installed dovecot using darwinports. The version installed is 0.99.10.5. (It's running well

News for OS X Users
Sorry things have gone silent on the release front, but I have some good news: I''ve gotten wxruby-swig to build as a OS X framework. This has a couple of ramifications 1) wxruby for the Mac will finally exactly like its Linux and PC counterparts, menu bar and all. 2) Bundling wxruby applications becomes a lot easier. 3) The next binary installer should be able to support darwinports,

maildir quotas, dovecot-lda
Hey guys, Running rc15, I have maildir quotas working with deliver - however I seem to be unable to get the maildir quota ignore option to work. Am trying to ignore a user wide directory "Maildir/Filtered/", where detected virii/spam gets sorted to. Does deliver take notice of the maildir ignore option ?
