Overly long email of miscellaneous Dovecot migration questions
Hello to the list! I've been asked to spec out the feasibility and, if feasible, plan a migration from Courier to Dovecot for both POP3 and IMAP for about 4 million mailboxes. I've been trying to absorb all the dovecot-related info I could over the past couple of weeks from the docs and from the list and I'm sure that I've muddled at least some of it, so apologies in advance if I

Postfix - Dovecot - SASL
I am trying to get Dovecot - Postfix - SASL to work. So, I do not have to use the pop-before-smtp goofy way of authenticating pop3 users when they want to SEND mail. dovecot.conf ------------ pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv auth default { mechanisms = plain login passdb sql { args = /home/digipanel/secure/programs/dovecot/config/dovecot-mysql.conf } userdb sql { args =

courier2dovecot migration script
Howdy, I've just migrated a couple of servers to Dovecot, and am loving it so far. I thought I'd share the courier2dovecot shell script I whipped together (based on the instructions I found in the wiki.dovecot.org migration how-to), for converting Courier-IMAP maildirs to Dovecot format. It can be downloaded from my home page: http://bendiken.net/scripts/ While the script is rather

Civ 4 patch help?
Hello. I'm following the instructions on how to install Civ 4 on my Ubuntu system. I've had it working perfectly in the past, but this time I come to a stop every time I try to patch to 1.74. The patch installer doesn't recognise that I have an existing installation of Civ on my system. Sorry to be a pain in the arse, but I can't remember if this happened before and if it did how

SSL and certificate authorities.
Hi all. Usually for in-house use and SSL I would just generate a self-signed certificate because most clients either ignore it or only ask the first time the account is configured. In terms of offering the service to our customers is there any value of getting someone like thawte or instantssl to sign a certificate for imaps/pop3s/smtp? Also, is there a configuration directive for dovecot

Courier to Dovecot: problems with folders
Hi all, I am migrating a maildir Courier-IMAP installation to Dovecot. Almost everything seems to work well, but I still have problems accessing subfolders. First let's see what I have done. I used the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script suggested in http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier to convert mailboxes from Courier to Dovecot. No problems here. My dovecot.conf contains this: (...)

looking for feedbacks on courier to dovecot
Manao ahoana, Hello, Bonjour, We currently run courier POP . We would like to switch to Dovecot. I encounter problems when migrating the UIDL because we have big Maildirs and POP re-downlading the data is not possible for most of the users. I tried the http://www.dovecot.org/tools/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script but I still have the re-downloading event. What are your stories and advices

Courier migrating issues: indexes, maildirsize, update query
Hi, (my first post to the list) I'm in the process of testing Dovecot to see whether it meets our needs to replace our current Courier setup which serves well over 100.000 mailboxes (pop3 and imap: mysql with NFS) So far dovecot seems pretty straight forward; however I ran into a couple of things that I'm curious about. 1. What's the deal with

Dovecot performance under high load (vs. Courier)
Hi, We are building a new system that will support a large number of users (high volume, high concurrent usage, etc).? We have played with Dovecot, but in most serious applications we have traditionally used Courier IMAP.? It's my (lay) understanding that with indexing and perhaps other things in Dovecot, it might perform better than Courier in larger environments like this.? Am I correct or

Dovecot Courier
Hello, I've been testing dovecot, and it appears to be much faster then courier-imap. I am using the latest .99 version, trying to make the transition from courier to dovecot as smooth as possible. We really only use IMAP via squirrelmail, I think I've got that worked out fine, changing a few settings in squirrelmail as the FAQ instructs and migrating the courier subscriptions to

Hi all, I am in the process of migrating my Maildir IMAP server from courier-imap to dovecot. I am now at the point of converting my Maildirs into a format that dovecot understands (as per http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier). Dovecot first impressions
Hi, I have only recently become aware of Dovecot and gave it a try. The previous 0.99.9.1 version didn't work well for me (OpenSSL), I dropped it, but 0.99.10 has come just in time (saw it on freshmeat) and I thought I'd give it another try if it promised SSL fixes, and it's sorta working for me (i. e. it works with mutt, Mozilla, sylpheed, but not cone -- but cone is beta and has SSL

Courier keywords - anyone even tried?
I do realize from the Wiki that the formats are incompatible, and am looking at the Courier spec (http://www.courier-mta.org/imap/?README.imapkeywords.html) and the Dovecot spec (http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir) trying to see if there's any sane way I could try and write a shellscript. The pain here is the Courier spec, I think I lost a few brain cells trying to understand

Courier to dovecot migrations
Dear All, I saw some topics discussed in forums about this, but none with my problems :( Currently we have a mailserver postfix with courier-imap-4.1.1, and courier-pop3 and courier-authlib. Our Maildir's are written in the users home directory (ex: ~/Maildir) I'm now migrating the mailserver to other cluster and installing with dovecot. We're also moving the Maildir's to
