First, it seems that the configure script is looking for inotify.h in /usr/include/sys, whereas it is in /usr/include/linux on my Debian Sarge system. Hi, I need some feedback for the following problem I encountered compiling dovecot. It seems to be a wrong check in configure, that comes out in a fatal error (crypt symbol not found because the -lcrypt is omitted). With these configure parameters no crypt module is recognized (and so the need_crypt variable is still off), but at compile time gcc fails to create executables. I solve the issue

Overall the build process for dovecot is very clean. I did however run into a significant problem when it came to locating the mysql libraries, especially when building a 64 bit executable but similar problems occured building a 32 bit executable. I am describing the 64 bit build issues below since that is the worst case scenario. Fixing the 64 bit build will automatically fix the 32 bit

I was hoping to finally get shared libdovecot.so and libdovecot-storage.so libraries for v1.3, so Sieve (and maybe others) could link against them. But I'm running into trouble getting it to compile in Solaris 10. Sorry, the authentication problem still wasn't actually fixed in beta6. Now, this time I tested every possible authentication case that it really works. I'll soon create a CVS branch which is going to stabilize into the 1.0 release. I won't add new features there so it shouldn't really get broken anymore, at least because of new features..
