Dovecot LDA config problem on RHEL 4 x86_64
Hello,
Has anyone succeeded on configuring and compiling Sieve capable Dovecot
LDA on RHEL 4 x86_64 platform?
I am having problems with configure script hanging on sed while creating
Makefiles.

I've setup a test machine and have been playing with dovecot-1.0beta7
and dovecot-lda in preparation for a migration from 0.99.x series.
(hopefully with the ability to support imap-quotas)
anyways, i've got it all compiled fine (as far as I can tell) and

PAM authentication woes with MacOSX
Hi. I've just compiled and installed 1.0beta7 on MacOSX 10.4.6. I
have lost the battle with PAM authentication. When I connect to the
IMAP server and provide the correct user name and password, the mail
client is told authentication failed. Here's what's in the log:

Dynamic server address
Hi!
My mail server (ubuntu breezey badger) is connected by ADSL and has a
dynamic address. I have noticed that, every day after the IP address
changes, dovecot is no longer reachable from the net. Iguess this is because
dovecot doesn't register this change and continues to listen on a
non-existing interface/address.
I'm trying to solve this problem by putting a script in /etc/ppp/ip-up/

Dovecot 1.0beta7: STARTTLS/SSL not wanting to start
Greetings -
I have been looking at Dovecot with a view to migrating us to it from the
Washington IMAP server on our Sun systems.
To start our testing we first of all installed the pre-built version of
Dovecot from the Blastwave (www.blastwave.org) community supported packaged
software site.
This was Dovecot 0.99.10.4 and we successfully got it working in our test
environment: at first just

Just to give some more information about this:
Apparently some of our POP3 users are saying that when they checked for
new mail this morning that all the mail that was saved on the server was
downloaded again as unread mail.
I followed the guidelines in the wiki [1] with regards to upgrading
from 0.99 to 1.0, made sure the .subscriptions and

RHEL 3 and quota problems...
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I've just installed 1.0beta9 on my RHEL 3 system and am still getting
the problems with the quota-fs returning "invalid argument".
I think i've traced the problem down to differences in the quota
versions based on the <sys/quota.h> files on RHEL 3 compared to FC3.
on the system itself i'm using v2 quotas (with aquota.user

problems with 1.0beta[78] on RHEL3

I've been running 0.99.13 on RHEL 3 for over a year now and finally
decided to upgrade to the 1.0 series.
unfortunately, I only have one RHEL 3 machine which is my production
machine. So, while doing all my preliminary testing I was doing so on a
FC 3 machine. I got everything to a stage where I felt comfortable
doing the upgrade but I'm

CONTROLDIR directive
Is the CONTROLDIR directive only available (undocumented as it may be)
in the 1.0 series?
I'm currently using 0.99.13 and I didn't find CONTROLDIR with grep.
Thanks

1.0beta7 still has SEARCH TEXT not search the FROM
I just tried out 1.0beta7 and erased all my indexes and with fts and
fts_squat enabled, and when I SEARCH TEXT in Dovecot, it does *not* find
messages where the thing I SEARCH for appear only in the From: header.
Timo, can you confirm or deny that you still see this behavior? I did
clear my indexes before doing it.

1.0beta8 won't start: Fatal: Protocol imaps given more than once
Greetings -
I've just built Dovecot 1.0beta8 and find it refuses to start. This under
Solaris 10 on an Intel-based Sun system. The error message Dovecot
displays (on standard error) in response to
/usr/local/sbin/dovecot

Dovecot randomly stops responding
Hi!
I'm running Dovecot 1.0beta7 on FreeBSD 6.0 (i386) and it randomly stops
responding. To mitigate the problem I made a little ruby scripts which
logs in to the POP3 server every 3 minutes and, in case of error (the
errors are usually timeout or end of file errors), restarts Dovecot.
Although this keeps this keeps things working, I'd like to figure out
what is causing Dovecot to stop

quota-rewrite patch & userdb quota overriding

I've spent the past couple of hours trying to figure this out by
checking the wiki and googling, but haven't come up with anything that
works yet.
I just installed dovecot 1.0.14 with the quota-rewrite (1.09) patch and
i'm trying to get the quota overridden via a passwd-file type userdb.
I had 1.0.13 without the new quota style patched

Assertion failed
We're in a bit of a panic here as we're getting a lot of errors along
the lines of:
May 2 12:39:00 lenny dovecot: IMAP(XXXXX): file mbox-sync-rewrite.c:
line 106 (mbox_sync_headers_add_space): assertion failed: (start_pos <

We didn't see this until our mail servers went under a full load and now
we've trashed the ability of nearly all our users to read email.

dovecot and thunderbird
We've been using dovecot for a while now (currently 1.0beta7) and it works
nicely. We have just one reoccuring problem:
When using thunderbird as the imap client sometimes when messages are moved
from the inbox to other folders (including Trash) they shortly thereafter
reappear in the inbox - this can happen multiple times to the same message.
We have multiple namespaces set up so that

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
Hi
Well we are now using HP instead of Dell and have hit a major hurdle. We
dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most
recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix
kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed
using iso's and the nic appears as

Check_box woes
I have a User model and an Address model.
A user has_many addresses, and an address belongs_to a user.
An address object for a user could be a billing, shipping or marketing address.
The way I''m tracking this is via the user attributes:
billing_adress_id, marketing_address_id and shipping_address_id in the
user table, which holds the relevant address id.
But in my form that allows a
