Using Dovecot LDA with Sendmail
Hi all,
After looking at the LDA/Sendmail page in the dovecot wiki, I wanted
to contribute another method to easily configure Sendmail to use
deliver. Instead of adding a new mailer definition, as already
suggested, one can simply use the following line in their sendmail.mc
file instead:
FEATURE(`local_procmail', `/usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver', `deliver
-d $u',

Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail
Hello!
Currently I'm trying to integrate dovecot's deliver program into procmail.
So basically I'd write a patch for procmail to deliver not directly into
the mbox file but delivering with the dovecot deliver program.
Do you think this is a good concept?
For testing I use the commands discussed below. Currently I'm having a
problem that deliver doesn't recognize the

Sendmail + Deliver as an LDA probs
Hi,
I'm having trouble setting up sendmail to be able to use dovecot deliver
as an LDA... I don't want to be able to deliver mail locally, everything
should go via deliver (virtual user setup)... And i'm confused about all
the procmail/lda entry's in different sendmail config files...
When using $# deliver -u testuser < testmail <-- he delivers my mail in

Sendmail + Deliver as an LDA
Need help with setup/config.
Current situation: (dovecot version : 1.1.7)
we have system users and virtual users. (with different domains)
Virtual users have procmail as LDA
Now we want "deliver" to become the LDA
I'm confused reading http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sendmail

dovecot + sendmail, what LDA setup?
I have an existing setup with sendmail, dovecot, on debian.
I want to move LDA and move from using mbox to using
Maildir. I have only 'real' users and aliases, no virtual users.
What is a recommended, trouble free, LDA setup? procmail is
of course on possibility, but I'd be unlikely ever to use any of its
advanced features, just simple local mail delivery. I'd like to use

Locking strategy?
Hello!
I run the following environment:
UW imapd
pine
sendmail
procmail
mbox format
I migrated from UW imapd to dovecot. It is pretty faster than UW imapd.
To ensure a compatible environment I did the following configuration
changes in /etc/dovecot.conf:
protocols = imaps
default_mail_env = mbox:~:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
mail_full_filesystem_access = yes
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks

Sendmail + dovecot-lda + LDAP
Hi,
I experince some problems with setting up Sendmail with the LDAP database for virtual mail accounts.
Why i'm not writing to the LDAP mailing list? I believe, that the reason of my problem is in configuring dovecot-deliver.
What i have:
?- FreeBSD
?- sendmail (Version 8.14.4 with LDAP support installed from ports)?
?- Dovecot LDA + dovecot (as pop3/imap)

Sendmail and Dovecot Delivery to Virtual Users
I'm new to dovecot and sendmail and my server doesn't forward mails to
'dovecot deliver' at all.
I was reading http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sendmail and this
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2009-June/040353.html from the mailling
list but I could figure it out myself. I someone could point me into the
right direction.
I'm confused with the config for LDA. Basically what I

Procmail to Sieve translation
Hello,
I'm trying to move from procmail to dovecot sieve.
I found the translation script at
http://www.dovecot.org/tools/procmail2sieve.pl
It works well except the following use cases:
* ^From:.*myemail at mydomain.com.*
| formail -I"X-Priority: 2 (high)" -I"X-mydomain-com-seen: yes" |
$SENDMAIL -oi \
myemail at mydomain2.com \

per user procmail filtering and dovecot-lda
So I'm confused as to why you're piping back from procmail to dovecot
LDA, rather than having procmail be the final LDA.
Why not use:
:0 w
* ^List-ID:.*jenkinsci-dev.googlegroups.com
mailing-lists/jenkinsci-dev/
(The trailing slash tells procmail that jenkinssci-dev is a maildir,
not an mbox)
Also, procmail is way out of date, no longer maintained, and there are

How to configure sendmail using dovecot lmtp
Hi,
I can't seems to find any posting on how to configure sendmail to use
dovecot as lmtp. All I see is using it as LDA. I am particularly interested
on how to tell sendmail to ask dovecot to deliver the message to the user.
In the wiki for lda it says to add the following in the sendmail config:

LDA problem
Hi,
I am using dovecot deliver as lda for sendmail. My problem is that when
a user account is over quota, deliver program sends message in the logs,
but the message is not bounced back to sender informing that their is
disk quota problem at the recipient side. Further message remains in the
mail queue. Details are below. Plz suggest how to figure out the problems:

Resend: How do I configure sendmail to accept emails for dovecot when dovecot has sql auth/user db.
Apologies for resending this, I am not sure it made it through the
first time..
---
Included below are my config files: sendmail.mc, dovecot.m4,
dovecot.conf, dovecot-sql.conf. Whenever I try to send email into
this system, it rejects it with user does not exist, however, the
user does exist as far as dovecot (imap) is concerned, it is in the
database.
THANKS - Yossie

From Sendmail to Dovecot mdbox, what is missing.
Sendmail 8.14.4
dovecot 2.0.9
I have sendmail working and it is sending mail to /var/mail/%u.
I have dovecot working in that I can move emails into IMAP folders and I can send email through IMAP. I have set up dovecot to use mdbox based on the following:
mail_location = mdbox:~/mail
However, I seem to be lacking a key piece of information.
Sendmail is sending the mail to /var/mail/%u as a

Selective Sendmail Relaying.
Hi all,
I've been trying to hit on the right configuration combo to allow
relaying from specific users and/or domains to an internal box running
Sendmail.
Reading the docs at http://www.sendmail.org/m4/anti_spam.html#relay
and http://www.sendmail.org/m4/anti_spam.html#access_db_fine
I would appear that I should be able to all per-address relaying in
/etc/mail/access by enabling
