Is "Resource temporarily unavailable" an old problem?
Hi. I've installed dovecot recently in a Fedora 5 Linux. It seemed to be OK but I begun to get the message "Can't connect to auth server at default: Resource temporarily unavailable". When I get the message, dovecot hangs. The problem is that "temporarily" is not quite true since the only way to get dovecot running again is to restart it. As a matter of fact, I

1.0.beta5 released
Just two changes: - Beta4's SSL proxying rewrite worked worse than I thought. Reverted it back to original code. - Filesystem quota plugin now looks up the mount path correctly. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... 1.0.beta7
Sorry, the authentication problem still wasn't actually fixed in beta6. Now, this time I tested every possible authentication case that it really works. I'll soon create a CVS branch which is going to stabilize into the 1.0 release. I won't add new features there so it shouldn't really get broken anymore, at least because of new features.. So, two changes in this release:

1.0.beta6 released
Fixes, mostly: * The login and master usernames were reversed when using master_user_separator (now the order is UW-IMAP compatible). * Killing dovecot master process now kills all IMAP and POP3 processes also. + -a parameter to dovecot prints now all settings that Dovecot uses. -n prints all settings that are different from defaults. + Added pop3_lock_session setting + %M modifier

1.0.beta4 released
I haven't had yet time to read all the mails in this list which I skipped in the last few of weeks. I'll try to get to them eventually. This release contains several new features which haven't been fully tested yet, such as ACLs, master users and Maildir++ quota. If you intend to use them, test them properly first. This is the first Dovecot release where it's supposed to work

Stale imap processes
Anyone have any theories or experiences as to why for a certain user, some of his imap processes hang, and stay around for days and days? He just reported that his Thunderbird was timing out when trying to open folders, I looked on the server, and he had 3 old imap processes from 1 week+ ago. I killed those and his performance immediately improved. He checks mail with Thunderbird > 1.5

ant RPM for CentOS 4
Attempting to build OpenOffice 2 on CentOS 4 from rawhide (future FC5) SRPM. The spec file has EL4 target (which is nice), and I got almost all dependencies in place (mostly from 4.2beta and some from rawhide). However, I'm missing the ant package. Ant from rawhide doesn't compile since it is already gcc 4 based (fails on dependencies, getting it to use gcc4 instead of gcc seems like

Running CentOS on very old hardware
A friend has an old Pentium-133 laptop with 32MB of memory and a 1.3 GB hard disk that he wants to use as a web server for a very small community. Will CentOS (or any other RHEL derived distribution for that matter) install and run with acceptable performance on such a system, or will a specialized distribution like Damn Small Linux be a better choice? In this case, disk space is not a big

Caching passwords?
Hi all! I need some help....changing passwords....... Dovecot server, appears to cache the old credentials. It only discovers the change upon a restart. I need to know how to configure dovecot (dovecot-1.0-0.beta2.7) as not to cache the passwords. (Using fedora core 5) Thanks Hein Celliers

missing empty line in mbox folders with Outlook 2000 client
I recently looked into a problem that has been plaguing me since the switch to dovecot a couple of years back, documented here: http://mailman.rwth-aachen.de/pipermail/procmail/2006-May/024363.html The gist is that when I tell Outlook 2000 to write all outgoing mail into a Sent-mail folder on the IMAP server (using mbox format), I find that the mbox's don't have empty lines separating the

unlink a directory
Hi, Occasionally I get an error message in my dovecot log when, in evolution, I click on the inbox: dovecot: Apr 21 00:07:06 Error: imap(admin): unlink(/home/admin/.maildir/cur/1145393825.P23027Q0M159929.terminator.odyssey.nl:2,ST) failed: Is a directory Instead of the message being delivered as a file it appears to be written as a directory.
