[CSL #301925] centosplus kernel xfs patches and CVE-2006-1855
Hi All, we've run into a problem with the xfs component in the centosplus kernel (2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp) where synchronous writes sometimes fail with EAGAIN. It's causing headaches for DB2 installs and for our database research group. There is a fix reported at: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-xfs&m=110808122904352&w=2 ...that's supposed to take care of

CentOS 4 and Intel D965 motherboards
Does anyone have information on support for Intel D965-based motherboards for CentOS 4 (i386)? I've got a DG965RYCK that fails a CentOS 4.4 install early on (problems scanning the PCI bus). Fedora Core 6 installs just fine. If anyone has any information, or magic boot parameters to try, please let me know. ("Works for me" is OK too). Thanks much. Dave Thompson UW-Madison

Re: [CSL #329283] centosplus XFS bug?
We're running a mix of ext3 and xfs file systems on CentOS 4 workstations at our site. We have benefitted greatly from the increased performance and fast (crash recovery) reboot times that we get from xfs. We're currently running CentOS kernel 2.6.9-42.0.8.EL and xfs version 0.2-1. We have one host where we've got issues. It's a (very) busy imap server with external scsi hardware

xfs 0.4-1 kernel modules CentOS 4/5
Is anyone else having difficulty with the kmod-xfs-*0.4-1* rpms from the centosplus repositories? For several years I have used a patched anaconda to get xfs file systems into the initial install for non-root file systems. With the 0.4-1 rpms, The subsequent reboot immediately reports file system xfs errors, and the system is unusable. I'm finding this with both CentOS 4 and CentOS 5.

3ware 9650SE success
I had posted a question recently on this list regarding the new series of cards from 3ware, and wanted to follow up with some real-world results. My test motherboard was an Intel D945GTPLKR (a desktop board). I was able to use the motherboard video and plug the 3ware card into the PCIe x16 slot. The card I was testing with (16ML) is a PCIe x8 card. Hardware-wise, everything worked without

RPM -e for single architecture
Hi All: On architectures where multiple architectures for an RPM may be simultaneously installed (my example is x86_64), does anyone know the RPM magic to remove only one version? For instance, if I have the x86_64 and i386 versions of an RPM installed, how I can specify to only remove the i386 version? I have been unable to find a search phrase that turns up any useful information.

athlon64/opteron 8GB per CPU
I'm putting together a spec for a big(ger) memory x86_64 host, and I hope some of you-all can help. I'm looking for success stories of hardware that folks are using in production environments, preferably with CentOS 4, with more than 4GB of memory per CPU. I know there are lots of mobos out there that can do this, but I'm looking for what folks really have running. Call me

C5 i386 kernel-debuginfo-common-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5.i686.rpm from vault
Is anyone else having trouble getting some RPMs from vault? When I navigate to http://vault.centos.org/debuginfo/5/i386/ ...and try to click on (e.g.) kernel-PAE-debuginfo-2.6.18-8.1.3.el5.i686.rpm I get 404 errors (The requested URL /debuginfo/5/i386/kernel-PAE-debuginfo-2.6.18 -8.1.3.el5.i686.rpm was not found on this server). But then if I wait a while and try again, maybe I get it. Is

New RPM signing key?
The newest tetex RPMs in the CentOS 4.2 updates tree seem to be signed by a new key. Can someone please point me to the relevant information? error: <directory>/tetex-latex-2.0.2-22.EL4.7.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: BAD, key ID 443e1821 Thanks. Dave Thompson UW-Madison

[CSL #351425] perfctr-enabled C5 kernel anyone?
Hi all: We have a user who needs to do some work with PAPI, which requires the perfctr patch applied to the kernel proper. Before I do that work here, I wanted to ask the list if anyone knows of a repo where such kernels are available? Also, if anyone has gone down this route and has helpful hints, perspectives, horror stories, etc., I would covet that information also. Cheers and Thanks,

rebuilding anaconda for centos 4.0
Hi all: I'm trying to rebuild the anaconda installer for Centos 4.0 (i386) to add some RPMs and do some other things, and I've run into a problem. I've done lots of anaconda rebuilds for Tao Linux 1.0, and I'm bringing those bits forward into Centos 4.0. The all-knowing web hasn't turned up anything useful. It looks like the PXE-loaded kernel unpacked and mounted the

Large file system idea
This idea is intruiging... Suppose one has a set of file servers called A, B, C, D, and so forth, all running CentOS 6.5 64-bit, all being interconnected with 10GbE. These file servers can be divided into identical pairs, so A is the same configuration (diks, processors, etc) as B, C the same as D, and so forth (because this is what I have; there are ten servers in all). Each file server has

CentOS 4 lm_sensors help for intel D945 motherboards
Has anyone succeeded in getting lm_sensors to produce useful output for intel D945-based motherboards? According to the lm_sensors site, I need a newer kernel (2.6.16) to read the ICH7 data. I noticed the i2c patches in the kernel source rpm, but no joy. I'd be okay with building my own modules, but haven't found anyone to provide the kernel module source apart from the kernel

CentOSPlus kernel - Request for input
OK, I am building the new CentOSPlus kernel for i386/x86_64. It is based on the 2.6.9-42.EL kernel that will be part of CentOS-4.4. Currently it has all the features of the older plus kernels and all the items turned on by the upstream provider in their main kernel ... except that XFS is being removed from this kernel (and added by a standalone module that has newer sgi code for xfs). I am not

xfs question
Hi, folks, CentOS 6.6 (well, just updated with CR). I have some xfs filesystems on a RAID. They've been mounted with the option of defaults. Will it break the whole thing if I now change that to inode64, or was that something I needed to do when the fs was created, or is there some conversion I can run that won't break everything? mark

Hi everybody, We are developing several applications on a single server and I''m looking for a way to use mongrel with each of them. Right now, http://testapp.com/ is being served on that machine through apache and mongrel. Replicated and Non Replicated Bricks on Same Partition
Gluster-Users, We currently have a 30 node Gluster Distributed-Replicate 15 x 2 filesystem. Each node has a ~20TB xfs filesystem mounted to /data and the bricks live on /data/brick. We have been very happy with this setup, but are now collecting more data that doesn't need to be replicated because it can be easily regenerated. Most of the data lives on our replicated volume and is
