Logging "issue" with PAM authentication
Hi,
We currently have a postfix/dovecot setup using nss_ldap with PAM for
authentication. Everything is working fine, but there are excessive
"error" messages in /var/log/messages that I'd like to prevent from
happening.
Since auth_userdb defaults to passwd and that our users are not in the
passwd file, we get the following message everytime a user logs in:

LDAP users/groups not showing up with nis, pam, & ldap
I am trying to configure NIS, PAM, & LDAP on a CentOS 6.2 host. I've
previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4, but CentOS now
uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations
are a little different.
Currently, local users and groups are showing up but not LDAP users.
When I do a /getent passwd/ and/getent group/ I don't get LDAP users.

Problem with User and Group Ownership listing
I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've
previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but
CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the
configurations cannot be moved straight across.
When I do a listing of a share directory that should have user and group
ownership determined by LDAP, I get the uidNumbers and

A little help with nss_ldap - User xxx in passdb, but getpwnam() fails!
I keep getting the following errors when I try to log on to my domain or
access a share (some how I have no clue I was able to get one computer
to access the samba domain). It is a standalone PDC, ldap on the same
computer.
This problem has been killing me for about a week, any help would be
greatly appreciated

chdir() on NFS
Hi,
I'm having problems accessing home directories though NFS. This setup uses
LDAP and Kerberos. Users defined on the local host work fine. This is what
dovecot writes in the logs while trying to log in as the user johndoe:

Fedora Directory Authentication on CentOS 5
Hi,
I am trying to set up a Fedora Directory server for centralised
authentication.
I configure the directory server, add a user called (via the Java GUI)
test and then, using system-config-authentication, enable LDAP on both
tabs. I then try to log-in using the test account I set up on the
directory, but I get an error message in /var/log/messages:

I was looking to upgrade my dovecot .99.14 installation to 1.0alpha5

Samba+Ldap problems
I'm trying to trobuleshoot my previuos problem from the basics.
I've a box setup with Ubuntu, samba and ldap. I have a lot of problems with
user authentications.
I'm checking if LDAP and PAM ar working together. I've added an user to ldap
with smbldap-useradd command (as posix account) and I'm trying to use it to
login via ssh. This user cannot authenticate.

Multiple samba servers with LDAP
I was wondering what the best practice is for setting up several SAMBA

Should I set the member servers up with:

Initial samba + ldap howto
A couple of days ago I decided that I needed a samba and ldap
setup. After reading the samba mailing list , specifically the
thread "Re: [Samba] Samba and LDAP backend - howto docs problems?"
I decided to buy the Official Samba-3 HowTo and Reference guide",
(the Samba-3 By Example mentioned in that thread wasn't available
in my bookstore and they could't order it for me too)

Authentification with PostgreSQL
Hi all,
I found Dag Wieers' Fedora Core 2 rpm on
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/dovecot/ and installed it. Now
dovecot-auth isn't complaining anymore about an unknown userdb type
but I can't get authentication working.

Changing User password from ssh member server
Hi Rowland,
This is a CentOS 6.7 server.
I was able to make some progress. I have edited /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and
now it looks like:

auth sufficient pam_unix.so nullok try_first_pass
auth requisite pam_succeed_if.so uid >= 500 quiet
auth sufficient pam_ldap.so use_first_pass
auth required pam_deny.so

dovecot-auth hangs with IO leak
Hi dovecot,
I am using the debian dovecot packages on a system running LDAP.
My /etc/pam.d/common-* looks like this, which simply means try /etc/passwd first, and try LDAP using the same password if it is failed.

account required pam_ldap.so use_first_pass
account required pam_permit.so

Changing User password from ssh member server

Is there a way to make it work ?

Samba, Passwd, LDAP auth
Hi,
I have searched all over and I am at a deep loss.
I have Openldap setup and it works fine holding users and is searchable,

I have samba setup to auth via LDAP and it works.
I can NOT for the life of me get system password stuff to work.
The strange thing is, that my "testuser" can telnet to the computer and
login and can login with samba fine. I can not ssh into the

dovecot-auth leaves zombies
Hi all,
I have installed and configured dovecot on two different machines, so
I don't have much experience with this server. One installation is
giving me serious problems, that I have a hard time tracing. From the
beginning: the machine is a debian mix (stable/unstable) dovecot

users, all of them using Outlook, Outlook

Does NIS/yp work for authentication
If a host is running NIS (passwd file ends in +::0:0:::) authentication,
will dovecot be able to authenticate with
auth_userdb = passwd
directly and automagically or do you have to do a ypcat passwd > pwfile periodically
to generate a passwd file that dovecot can use?
?
Thanks!
