Quota and Trash
Hi,
I finally got a grip on our mail guys to try out Dovecot after they
started migrating a ~15k user mailsystem to Maildir+NFS (Netapp)+Courier
and the performance was not as good as expected. So far the results are
impressive, although there are of course a few small issues to be
solved.
One is the current Quota handling, which they use with Courier IMAP and
(still) think it needs to be

automaticly move expunded emails to trash Folder
Hi
I try to migrate from courier to Dovecot.
Is there a way to get the same behaviour of Courier-imap with dovecot, about
expunged emails ? I though about using the Lazy-Expunge plugin. The problem
with this plugin is the following: messages are moved and set to be deleted
in the Trash Folder. I would like they weren't set to be deleted.
Is there a way to mitigate the behaviour of this

How do I move delete messages to Trash?
I've recently replaced courier-imap with dovecot - mainly for
performance benefits. All of my users in the office use Outlook
Express. It appears that dovecot has no facility to move deleted
messages to a Trash folder - where they can be removed after a
specified time with a cronjob.
Other mail clients seem to have an option to specify a Trash folder.
I see that there's a

fixing deleted-to-trash-plugin
Hi,
I'm currently trying to make the deleted-to-trash-plugin work with dovecot
v1.2.4, without this plugin the trash mailbox is pretty useless with mail
clients like Evolution and Outlook, I still can't believe this
functionality isn't intergrated into dovecot since it doesn't even
influence the operation of other mail clients that do support this option
theirselfs (even when

trash plugin not doing it's job
I enabled the trash plugin yesterday, adding "trash" to mail_plugins,
and configuring the plugin setting "trash =
/etc/dovecot/dovecot-trash.conf.ext".
But I still see users with lots of files in INBOX.Trash getting
bounced because of quota exceeded:

1.08 + quota-rewrite has no trash plugin
I think I'm just going to move to 1.1 - however, I'm not keen on installing all the dev tools necessary on a production box. Does anyone have any pointers to web pages or keywords I can check to see what kind of safeguards are needed.
The problem I have is building the the srpm to include the quota-rewrite with the trash plugin. I think it has been removed and I wanted to check if anyone

deleted-to-trash plugin problems
We have a user who wants to use Outlook with our Dovecot IMAP server but
doesn't like the way Outlook handles deletion with IMAP.
Ironically she would like Outlook to move the message to her Trash
folder, just like Outlook does with "local" folders, I guess.
So I enabled the "deleted-to-trash" plugin (v0.3) on our Dovecot 1.2.17
server (built for SPARC, solaris 10,

Periodic cleanup of Trash
Hi dovecot developers,
Is there any plan to have a plugin which deletes old messages from
certain folders at login time? I am thinking along the lines of the
automatic removal of old messages from say, the Trash folder. This
functionality exists in courier-imap and cyrus imap, and would be very
handy to have in dovecot too.

trash plugin bug?
Hey all, has anyone ever tried turning on the trash plugin when the directory is already over quota? I see some messages being deleted, but it seems it just deletes enough to fit the new email, not enough to go below quota. Example:
. getquotaroot "Spam"
* QUOTAROOT "Spam" "User quota" "Spam Quota"
* QUOTA "User quota" (STORAGE 591036 5242880)

trash plugin
The trash plugin docs say:
"Normally if a message can't be saved/copied because it would bring user over quota, the save/copy fails with "Quota exceeded" error. The trash plugin can be used to avoid such situations by making Dovecot automatically expunge oldest messages from configured mailboxes until the message can be saved"
This leads me to believe that if a message

auto move of purged mail to trash
I am moving a courier installation over to Dovecot and I am wondering if
there is a way to set Dovecot to automatically move purged items to
trash (under IMAP). Additionally, is there a way to automatically
delete old items from a Trash folder?

Plugin trash does not work
Hi.
I use dovecot 1.0.13 on FreeBSD 7.0. I want my Junk mail will be deleted
if my quota is exceeded. So, I configured trash plugin (with Dovecot
wiki). In my dovecot.conf:
protocol imap {
mail_plugins = quota trash
}
plugin {
trash = /usr/local/etc/dovecot-trash.conf
}
In my /usr/local/etc/dovecot-trash.conf:

2 Trash
Emails in there mailboxes are never deleted.

first crack at auto-trash plugin
I have written an alpha version of an auto trash plugin for dovecot.
When compiled in any mail expunged from a non-Trash folder is moved to a
folder named Trash. As of yet the folder is not created if it doesn't
exist (the process fails before expunge). I would appreciate feedback
of any sort. In addition, I am currently getting an error I haven't
been able to puzzle out in the

trash plugin together with sieve_before ?
We have a sieve script doing sieve_before to sort spam to
spam-folders. Now I'm trying to configure the "Trash" plugin, but it
doesn't seem to work.. I noticed my config file says:
# Space separated list of plugins to load (none known to be useful
so far). Do NOT
# try to load IMAP plugins here.
#mail_plugins =
and that doveconf doesn't list any plugins loaded for
